Title: My response to Rom 1:20 Summary: 1. Introduction to the eighth day teaching — 00:01–00:37 Vaughn opens with a Sabbath greeting and identifies himself with First Harvest Ministries. He introduces the ministry's teaching concerning the eighth day, also called the last great day. He explains that his ministry associates this future period with the great white throne judgment. He teaches that many people who never heard the gospel will receive an opportunity to hear it and be converted. 2. The question of fairness and opportunity — 00:37–02:00 Vaughn explains that critics challenge his teaching by citing Romans 1:20. Before examining Romans, he refers to Yeshua's statement concerning Tyre and Sidon. He emphasizes that Yeshua said those cities would have repented if they had witnessed the mighty works performed elsewhere. Vaughn argues that this raises a serious question about condemning people who might have repented if they had received an adequate opportunity. mighty works performed elsewhere. Vaughn argues that this raises a serious question about condemning people who might have repented if they had received an adequate opportunity. He rejects the idea that such people will necessarily suffer eternal torment without another opportunity. 3. The objection from Romans 1:20 — 02:00–04:21 Vaughn introduces Romans 1:20 as the principal objection to his eighth day teaching. He reads the verse concerning Yahweh's invisible attributes, eternal power, and Godhead being understood through creation. He explains that critics interpret the statement about being without excuse as applying to every human being. He argues that this interpretation confuses awareness of creation with receiving and understanding the gospel. He announces that the surrounding verses will demonstrate a different meaning. 4. Romans 1:16 and the Jew-first principle — 04:21–05:11 Vaughn begins his contextual reading with Romans 1:16. He emphasizes that the gospel is Yahweh's power unto salvation. He highlights Paul's statement that salvation comes to the Jew first and also to the Greek. ng with Romans 1:16. He emphasizes that the gospel is Yahweh's power unto salvation. He highlights Paul's statement that salvation comes to the Jew first and also to the Greek. He interprets this order as an important principle throughout Paul's writings. 5. The first becoming last — 05:11–06:03 Vaughn connects the Jew-first principle with the teaching that the first shall be last and the last shall be first. He argues that the Gentiles historically received revelation after the Jews. He presents the movement of the gospel toward the Gentiles as a reversal of earlier religious privilege. He emphasizes that the distinction between Jew and Gentile must be remembered when interpreting the chapter. 6. The righteousness revealed through the gospel — 06:03–06:58 Vaughn examines Romans 1:17. He teaches that the righteousness of Yahweh is revealed in the gospel. He identifies Yeshua as the righteousness of Yahweh. He emphasizes Paul's statement concerning living by faith. He then introduces Romans 1:18 and the revelation of Yahweh's wrath. 7. Holding the truth in unrighteousness — 06:58–07:46 Vaughn focuses on the people who hold the truth in unrighteousness. oduces Romans 1:18 and the revelation of Yahweh's wrath. 7. Holding the truth in unrighteousness — 06:58–07:46 Vaughn focuses on the people who hold the truth in unrighteousness. He asks which people possessed Yahweh's revealed truth. He identifies them as the Jewish people who received the Torah. He argues that they possessed the Scriptures but failed to accept the Messiah revealed through them. 8. The manifestation of Yahweh through Israel — 07:46–09:26 Vaughn continues into Romans 1:19. He emphasizes that Yahweh had made himself known to the people being discussed. He connects this revelation with Yeshua's coming through the Jewish people. He argues that the Gentile nations had not previously received the same covenant revelation. He concludes that the context identifies a specific group possessing revealed truth. 9. Reinterpreting Romans 1:20 — 09:26–10:19 Vaughn returns to the statement that certain people were without excuse. He argues that this statement concerns the Jewish people who possessed Yahweh's truth but rejected Yeshua. He denies that the verse proves every human being has already heard the gospel. that this statement concerns the Jewish people who possessed Yahweh's truth but rejected Yeshua. He denies that the verse proves every human being has already heard the gospel. He connects the described wrath with Jerusalem's destruction in AD 70. 10. Knowledge, ingratitude, and spiritual darkness — 10:19–11:50 Vaughn reads Romans 1:21–22. He emphasizes that the people described had known Yahweh. He argues that their failure to glorify Yahweh demonstrates the rejection of previously received revelation. He interprets the darkened heart as a condition resulting from the loss or rejection of spiritual light. He identifies religious pride as a major cause. He associates the profession of wisdom with Jewish religious leaders, including Pharisees and Sadducees. 11. The exchange of divine glory for idols — 11:50–13:18 Vaughn examines Romans 1:23. He emphasizes the exchange of Yahweh's glory for images of created beings. He connects this imagery with the golden calf. He argues that Israel's history provides the context for understanding the passage. Yahweh's glory for images of created beings. He connects this imagery with the golden calf. He argues that Israel's history provides the context for understanding the passage. He then continues into the description of people being given over to sinful behavior. 12. The rejection of Yahweh's knowledge — 13:18–14:07 Vaughn reads the passage concerning the rejection of divine knowledge and the reprobate mind. He emphasizes that the people described had failed to retain knowledge of Yahweh. He argues that this description fits people who previously possessed revelation. He again identifies the Jewish people as the intended group. 13. Covenant breakers and knowledge of judgment — 14:07–15:37 Vaughn reads the concluding list of sins in Romans 1. He places particular emphasis on the description of covenant breakers. He argues that covenant breaking presupposes the possession of a covenant. He identifies Israel as the people who possessed Yahweh's covenant and Torah. He also emphasizes the knowledge of Yahweh's judgments and the penalties associated with disobedience. identifies Israel as the people who possessed Yahweh's covenant and Torah. He also emphasizes the knowledge of Yahweh's judgments and the penalties associated with disobedience. He argues that this knowledge supports his identification of the passage's audience. 14. Final defense of the eighth day doctrine — 15:37–16:40 Vaughn concludes that Romans 1 concerns people who possessed Yahweh's truth but rejected it. He argues that the passage does not establish that every person has received the gospel. He reaffirms that many people have never understood the truth or received an opportunity to respond. He maintains that such people must receive that opportunity. He closes by stating that Romans 1:20 concerns the Jewish people in his interpretation, not every human being without distinction. and I'm Shane Von with first Harvest Ministries I want to deal with something that I believe uh we need to deal with for those that know one of our teachings here at first harvest is that we believe in what's called The Eighth Day or the last great day which will be a time at the great white Throne judgment when we teach that many people that have never heard the gospel many people that are uh with an excuse uh (00:37) will have an equal chance to hear the gospel and to be converted now whenever we teach that and I do have a video uh where we did preach that live in uh Peru Indiana I would encourage you to watch it it's called the 8th Day Festival now the first scripture that uh most ministers and theologians will bring to us is the one that I want to discuss with you tonight whenever we say that there will be people with an excuse uh as to why they did not come to know the Lord um you will bring to us is the one that I want to discuss with you tonight whenever we say that there will be people with an excuse uh as to why they did not come to know the Lord um you know Yeshua said and I won't Bel the point but he said um (01:22) speaking to the inhabitants of Jerusalem he said that if the inhabitants of Ty and sidon had seen the things that you've seen and heard the things that you've heard they would have repented and believed the gospel and been saved well there's God manifest In the Flesh admitting that if certain folks had a chance to hear the gospel they would have repented well then the question comes up how could he send them to an eternal boiling torment knowing that if they would have had the chance they would have repented we don't believe (02:00) that's going to happen we do believe that there will be an equal chance but we run into a problem with Romans chapter 1 and it seems to refute what we're teaching uh at first glance it seems like every man woman boy and girl is without excuse it seems to say that everyone has heard the gospel uh through one means or another so if you don't mind let's do a quick little study on that and let's see exactly what out excuse it seems to say that everyone has heard the gospel uh through one means or another so if you don't mind let's do a quick little study on that and let's see exactly what the scripture is saying let's go to Romans chapter 1 and we'll uh let's just read the proof text let's read the verse that (02:45) they use they they don't they don't use the whole chapter they use the one verse one of those Roman Rockets I call them a scriptural drive by shooting with one bullet um and and they they they they want to blow up your entire thesis with this one verse of scripture let's read it Romans chapter 1 verse 20 for the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen they're understood by the things that are made even his eternal power and godhead so that they are without excuse now what our antagonist tried to prove (03:34) with that verse is that every man every woman every person has heard the gospel through some means some invisible means um and they are without excuse because it says that the invisible things of God are understood and clearly seen by the things that he made so they try to say that uh by invisible things by the Stars maybe by the whatever says that the invisible things of God are understood and clearly seen by the things that he made so they try to say that uh by invisible things by the Stars maybe by the whatever that everyone has heard the gospel and without excuse but I want to show to you um that that is not what that verse is saying actually it is saying the exact opposite and proving The Eighth (04:21) Day message now to find that out let's go up a few verses like we always have to do and let's see exactly who is without excuse and we're going to start at verse number 16 Romans 1:16 one of my favorite verses Paul says I'm not ashamed of the Gospel of Yeshua the Messiah for it is the power of God un salvation to everyone that believeth to the Jew first and also to the Greek always remember in Paul's writings everything is to the Jew first remember in the economy of Yahweh everything goes to the Jew first but remember the first shall (05:11) be last the last shall be first who is last it's always to the Jew first and then to the Gentiles the Gentiles have always been last in the economy of Yahweh but they're now first and then that which was first which is the Jews have come in last so keep in mind the context les the Gentiles have always been last in the economy of Yahweh but they're now first and then that which was first which is the Jews have come in last so keep in mind the context of this chapter is about the Jew first and then the Gentile verse 17 for therein there in what in the gospel for therein in the gospel is the righteousness of Yahweh revealed who was the righteousness of Yahweh Yeshua Jesus Christ Yeshua hamashiach the Messiah he was the (06:03) righteousness of Yahweh it is in the gospel that Yeshua is revealed to us which is the righteousness of God from Faith to Faith as it is written the just shall live by faith now let's read Verse 18 for the wrath of Yahweh is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men I want you to pause right there the wrath of God is revealed the wrath of God is about to begin on men now is it all men or is it a certain group of men let's read who hold the truth in unrighteousness the men that the wrath (06:58) of God is being poured out upon thank God for the revelation of the spirit of God the one that the Wrath is about to be poured out upon is those that know and hold the truth what is the truth that then it was on thank God for the revelation of the spirit of God the one that the Wrath is about to be poured out upon is those that know and hold the truth what is the truth that then it was the Torah it was the truth of Yahweh there was a certain group of people the Jew first that held the truth but they held it in unrighteousness they didn't live it they didn't accept it now what did they not accept remember Paul just told us the gospel reveals Yeshua now the gospels was foretold in the Torah that the (07:46) Messiah would come so here's a group of people holding the truth they have their Scrolls in their arms they're carrying it around they are holding the truth but they're doing it in righteousness because it was yua that reveals the righteousness of God it's really that simple let's keep reading verse 19 because that which may be known of God is manifested in them for God has shown it unto them again there is a certain group of people that have the truth and it was through these people that yua would be manifested that which may be known of (08:38) Yahweh can only be known through yua through Jesus only through him and it was through the Jewish people that yua came to us so that that so ted that which may be known of (08:38) Yahweh can only be known through yua through Jesus only through him and it was through the Jewish people that yua came to us so that that so that which may be known of God is Manifest in them who is them these people that are hold holding to the Torah without accepting the Messiah the righteousness of God therefore making themselves unrighteousness for Yahweh has shown it unto them now I want you to know something up until this point the truth the Torah had not been revealed to the Gentiles the world it was revealed to a (09:26) certain group of people that was to protect the the truth of God the Jews so now we come to verse 20 where everybody loves to go and it says for the invisible things of him from from the creation of the world are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made even his eternal power and godhead so that they are without excuse who the Jew first they were given the truth they held the truth without yua they held it in unrighteousness so it is them that are without excuse and that's the reason the wrath of Yahweh was about to (10:19) be poured out up on the Jews in ad70 when the wrath of Yahweh would fall upon so it is them that are without excuse and that's the reason the wrath of Yahweh was about to (10:19) be poured out up on the Jews in ad70 when the wrath of Yahweh would fall upon the Jews and they would would have no excuse no reason that this wrath should not fall upon them they are without excuse now how we get that this refers to the whole world is really mindblowing it shows our lack of understanding of the scriptures let's go to the next verse and we'll prove the point even further because that when they knew Yahweh I have a question for you did the Gentiles ever know y no but when these certain people the Jew (11:04) first when they knew Yahweh they glorified him not as Yahweh neither were they thankful but they became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened you can't darken something that never had light these were a group of people to whom the truth was revealed but they became puffed up in their vanity and their pride because they held the truth the Covenant they held it but they didn't hold the righteousness of God which was Messiah verse 22 professing themselves to be wise the the Pharisees the Sadducees the Jewish (11:50) people thought that it but they didn't hold the righteousness of God which was Messiah verse 22 professing themselves to be wise the the Pharisees the Sadducees the Jewish (11:50) people thought that they were the epitome of wisdom because they had Torah they professed themselves to be wise but they became fools ladies and gentlemen the Gentiles were never wise and they never became fools they were always fools because he that hath not the law of God is foolish let's go to verse 23 and they changed the glory of the uncorruptible Yahweh into an image made like to corruptible man and to birds and to beast and to creeping things did the Gentiles ever do that did the Gentiles take the image of the (12:32) corrupt uncorruptible God and turn it into an idol did they ever do that no because they never knew the uncorruptible god they never knew Yahweh and they didn't create the golden calf the Golden Ox this was those people to whom the truth had came that did this not the world verse 24 for this reason for what reason for changing the image of the uncorruptible god into false Idols false images God gave them up to vile affections for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against ing the image of the uncorruptible god into false Idols false images God gave them up to vile affections for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature and (13:18) likewise also the men leaving the natural use of the woman burned in their own lust one toward another men with men working that which is is unseemly or unnatural and receiving in themselves that recompense of their era which they deserved even as they did not like to retain God or Yahweh in their knowledge God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient now what did he just say there this certain group of people did not retain the knowledge of Yahweh in their minds the Gentiles never had the (14:07) knowledge of Yahweh this has to be the Jewish people verse 29 and we're almost done being filled with all unrighteousness fornication wickedness covetousness maliciousness full of Envy murder debate deceit Mal mity Whisperers backbiters haters of Yahweh despiteful proud boasters inventors of evil things Disobedience to Parents Without understanding Covenant Breakers Now ladies and gentlemen the Gentiles never had a covenant with yahwe Israel did the Jew s inventors of evil things Disobedience to Parents Without understanding Covenant Breakers Now ladies and gentlemen the Gentiles never had a covenant with yahwe Israel did the Jew and Israel didn't at this point the Jews did they were still in Covenant (14:52) with Yahweh but they are now Covenant Breakers without natural affection implacable and unmerciful who knowing the law of God nobody else in the world knew the law of God the judgments of God which was his law his ordinances only the Jews knew the Judgment of God that's all that they which commit such things are worthy of death only the Jews would have known that the death penalty was ascribed to these sins the Gentiles did not have this same law or Torah or instruction only the Jews did not only do the same he said they (15:37) know the truth they know the penalty their minds are clearly understanding my word and he said but yet they break my law and they have pleasure in them that break my law Now ladies and gentlemen it is those people that the wrath of God is being poured out upon in this verse of scripture in this chapter and yet when I preach on the eighth day and I preach that not everybody knows the truth not at the wrath of God is being poured out upon in this verse of scripture in this chapter and yet when I preach on the eighth day and I preach that not everybody knows the truth not everybody understands the truth not everybody has had their eyes open they must be given that chance and this is the scripture they (16:23) always bring verse 20 that that no man is without excuse no man has an excuse rather I hope I've shown you that that has nothing to do with all men that was the Jewish men God bless you have a great evening

Summary
