Gatlin Terrell my grandmother and I'm going to try to bring you a message that I 42 believe relates to my grandmother but before I do that a few nights ago my mother called me my real mother it's a long story but anyway she called me and she said baby Nana but what we called her is getting bad and she said you know y'all were just here yesterday but if you if you want to see her before she goes you may want to come on when we were headed to the dursties for dinner whenever we got that phone call and I I didn't know what to do because mama said I said well how long she said this could it could be days she could be like this so I said well we'll just come early in the morning 43 we'll just get up early and come but on the way back my wife spoke to me and said we've got to go now and I said well okay the way I know it was God my wife got back to the ing 43 we'll just get up early and come but on the way back my wife spoke to me and said we've got to go now and I said well okay the way I know it was God my wife got back to the house and got dressed and packed in 10 minutes [Music] after God's moment with two little bags that's a God moment and we got to the house all my mother said during the day there had been two or three hundred people come in to say goodbye to this great Legend of the Apostolic Church you're going to hear some of her story tonight but anyway when we got there all the children were there she had 10 children and the ones that 44 are still alive was all there were several people in the bedroom where she was laying [Music] then I walked in she looked okay I mean you could tell she was going down but she looked she did have that death rattle in her throat but besides that she could last for a long time I'm saying all that to bring a point finally about two in the morning everybody went to sleep it's almost like the Lord put everybody to sleep it's the weirdest thing my mother my uncles my aunts the ones that were not asleep had left the room living room laughing and cutting up with my cousins if y'all don't know what cousin laughter is like there's nothing like it and so we're all out there just trying to lighten the moment and the door opens and a woman says your wife needs to see you so I walk in the door and there was nothing wrong with Nana she had not changed but the Holy Ghost had spoke to my wife to call me into the room everybody's asleep my wife is sitting there and she moves over so I can 46 get next to my mother my grandmother when she does I feel no urgency in my spirit I just sit there and rub her little arm the one that for those that don't know my grandmother when I was born in New Orleans in the church house literally I was born in church literally I was born in the church house my mother was 14 years old around my neck I was black and blue I didn't cry for 47 several minutes and it was my little grandma that was the Midwife hadn't got there my grandmother pulled me out of my mother after nine months well here I am after nine Decades of her life 91 years old she pulled me out at nine months and here I sit at her bedside after nine decades and when I did my wife said honey sing to her I don't feel like singing she said say now and I rubbed her little arm and I said Nana you are so loved all your families here and by the way y'all I'm doing everything I can to not break down this is my duty not to break down so I said Nana I said you're you're 48 surrounded by love your family is here she was gasping for breath and I said we love you and then I started singing a song that she wrote many years ago I sang the first verse the course the second person the second verse was gasping for breath and I said we love you and then I started singing a song that she wrote many years ago I sang the my arm and fell on my arm and she was still doing wonderful alive because everybody was gone so I just leaned in and I pulled her up to me like I bet you'd pull a baby up to your breast I just pulled her up to me and I started singing 49 the last course when I did my wife is standing right there and she says honey and I said God I said I didn't know she had left I didn't know she was gone she was in my arms and I said no no and when I the rest is history but the point is this is the song I was singing and I thought tonight in her memory I would sing it for you uh in her memory tonight I have you've got to understand tonight this miracle is in the mantle I want to preach to you tonight a message entitled what was in that mantle what was in that mantle you may be seated tonight what was in that mantle I want you to notice that Elisha he is the plowboy he's a nobody he came from Louisiana he came from 63 Bayside he came from Hancock County he he it wasn't nobody all he was doing was like Judy go day planting his garden just just just doing what he does and one day truth walked by and Truth gave him a Destiny and said to him if you will follow he didn't say follow God he said if you'll follow me he said I will turn you into the next pastor of Israel because many don't ave him a Destiny and said to him if you will follow he didn't say follow God he said if you'll follow me he said I will turn you into the next pastor of Israel because many don't understand why God removed Elijah the only reason God could take Elijah to into the atmosphere was because there had to be somebody ready to take his place now the successor must not be in love with the mantle Elisha did not 64 follow Elijah for the mantle he followed him for the man the back go read it he served him when you desire to be part of the work of God for what you can get from a Ministry rather than what you can give you're in love with the mantle God is calling you to get in love with the ministry of service to one another and all this church is full of servants Hallelujah that's the difference in a student and a disciple is your love for the ministry that God called you to now prophets today do not really wear cloaks or mantles if you will but in those days your mantle was a sign of your Authority in 65 that Dominion they don't wear that anymore uh but rather the reason the prophet wore the mantle it was a sign of the priesthood okay it was a sign of his authority in God there are some ominion they don't wear that anymore uh but rather the reason the prophet wore the mantle it was a sign of the was someone with great Authority and God great Authority because Authority is not granted I cannot turn to my son Tyler right now and say here you're the pastor I can't do that why he's not earned one ounce of authority the people will not receive it now you come in here and begin 66 to work among the people slave labor with us serve the ministry then what happens is you begin to escalate in Spiritual Authority when they see you on your knees somewhere in prayer talking to the Lord you begin to escalate in Spiritual Authority the problem we have in the church today is nobody recognizes Spiritual Authority and that is a dangerous thing for you when someone doesn't understand Spiritual Authority they'll think they're in Authority when they have no Authority at all authority is gained from a lifetime of service to the people of God that's where you get it from faithfulness 67 y'll think they're in Authority when they have no Authority at all authority is gained from a lifetime of service to the people of God that's where you get it from faithfulness 67 gives you Authority all right so faithfulness gives you Authority when a prophet dies the father is not going to let a prophet die without somebody ready to take his place amen why would the Lord allow his great generals to leave the earth when there's no one that's been submitted to them training under them preparing to bring that message to the Next Generation listen to me I want to talk to you tonight about what what's in that mantle and to do that I want to take you to II Kings chapter two and I want to show you something that I've never seen before and we're going to go to verse number 68 nine and I want to read this to you line by line Elijah two and nine I'm sorry Second Kings two and nine and it came to pass when they were gone over that Elijah said unto Elisha ask what I shall do for you before I be taken away from you and Elisha said I pray thee let a double portion of thy Spirit be upon me now I'm going to be honest with you I never understood why anybody would need a double portion of rom you and Elisha said I pray thee let a double portion of thy Spirit be upon me now I'm going to be honest with you I never understood why anybody would need a double portion of Elijah's anointed I understand tonight and I'm going to teach it to you why did he need a double portion what in other words are you just trying to be double better are you trying to be 69 double anointed well I mean if you get the authority of Elijah which is what the mantle of Elijah is if you gain that Authority I remember when I was a young preacher 14 years old 15 16 17 18. 70 my foolish behind thought I had Spiritual Authority I have some little young whippersnapper running around preaching and what happened uh not submitted nowhere not settled and the the listen your ministry will only go as far as your Elijah goes whoever God puts you under that's where your limit is so choose carefully who you set under and whenever God calls you he will call you with the mantle you will feel something fall on your life that just makes your life from that day forward feels so different you've been called to the ministry huh you are double power devil anoint you you want devil you and that you don't know what you just put on your shoulder oh you want to go out and do what I just did and park the water don't you wait till they part your heart out of your chest talking about you why did you 72 just wait son you've asked for a hard thing but you want it if you want it I give it to you you better know what you're asking for you're asking for every detail of your life to come under the scrutiny of the Holy Ghost you're asking for every decision to become scrutinized by the word of God you've asked for a high the 74 flower garden planted she had me shuffling and I I'm out there making sure my Elijah don't have to put her hand down there and do nothing I was her little Elijah all of my life I went Where She can give it to you but the only way God can do it is if somehow just have to go Monday night I just happened to be there with my Elijah and I'm going to tell you about my Elijah son tonight that way you'll recognize my Ministry and understand why things are the way they are and why some why some things are about to change around here I'm trying to prepare you is all I'm trying to do I had to talk miraculous moment where you should you see 78 when I leave somebody with the Holy Ghost gonna pick up what I'm preaching in a minute glory to God and Elisha saw it and he cried my father my father that's what I tell all of you that follows so many different teachers and so many different things you can call them instructors but you only got one father in the Lord until you find out who it is thereof my wife Karen do you remember me saying this I don't know if you do I'm standing there when she died and I immediately said the horses of Israel the Chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof you remember that the moment my mother died I said the Chariots of Israel that The Horseman there I said it three times I repeated it why because I saw Elijah when Elijah went into the atmosphere I saw it third [Laughter] he saw him 80 and he saw him no more I'll never see Lois Gatlin anymore until the first resurrection and he took home oh I want you to notice what happened the minute he saw that that he rent his own identity he knew it was time to step up he took his own clothes off it was time to wear a new mantle I want you to notice what happened the minute he saw that that he rent life before I read it I thought that mantle fell on Elisha how many of you believe that he didn't follow my life watch what happened and he when he dropped the mantle he took up the mantle that fell from Elijah when Elijah went up the mantle watch it didn't fall on Elijah it just fell and at that moment Elisha there it is it didn't fall on you because there's one more test you've got to pass will you pick it up [Applause] are you sure you're ready you don't have to pick it up I got a school of profits up there with 50 preachers in there you but I chose you first it's there who wants it 82 was total obedience to Yahweh you sure because it's there if you want it the night my grandmother passed away I heard the Lord speak to me say it's there if you want it but if you 83 want to just keep doing your thing wearing your clothes go right ahead but if you want that mantle of law Scotland are you sure you're ready to wear it because if you pick it up it there's something in that mantle this is not some Superstition stuff he said there's something that has attached itself to that mantle and I said Lord what he said the woman that wore that mantle released into that mantle everything she was her Authority her Authority and God with great Authority comes great responsibility [Applause] and I said Lord what is that hat mantle released into that mantle everything she was her Authority her Authority and God with great Authority comes great responsibility [Applause] and I said Lord what is that mantle he said I want you to look back over her life 84 and you'll find what's in the mantle so tonight if you will bear with me I want to talk to you about her life and I want you to see for yourself what was in that matter when Royce Gatlin was 13 years old she married her husband at 13. 85 she was filled with the Holy Ghost in Albany Louisiana at 15 years old under the ministry of Wilbur sistrunk did you know him Mama brother sistrunk ran a Revival somewhere there we can't quite by figure out where it was but my grandmother at 15 heard the message of baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ she responded to truth what was in that mantle a response to truth she responded to truth that night and then when she got the Holy Ghost she had been singing in a little cafe in Albany as a little country singer one night she was up singing If Loving You Is Wrong wrong I'll always be and 86 that's when a man walked in while she was singing he was a Navy Seaman with his navy suit on and that was my grandfather singing If Loving You Is Wrong wrong I'll always be and 86 married at 13 she was 13 years old and right after she married him uh after that she began she received the Holy Ghost and began to seek the Lord in Earnest and fell in love with something called holiness what was in that mantle holiness she fell out of love with the world sister Stephanie she fell out of love with the world and there's a mantle coming upon this ministry where you're gonna have 87 to fall out of love with the world it's falling upon us you're too in love with the world some of you and that's why this mantle will make you uncomfortable the holiness is in this mantle she began to serve the Lord and then she had she had children for my grandfather and her husband did not serve the Lord at that time she attended the church a Brother Ray Hudson in Holden Louisiana while she was under brother Hudson's Ministry did you hear that she was under a man's Ministry while she was under brother Hudson's Ministry she began y Hudson in Holden Louisiana while she was under brother Hudson's Ministry did you hear that she was under a man's Ministry while she was under brother Hudson's Ministry she began to play the guitar and sing during the church services well the 88 word on the street was her her guitar playing and her singing would cause Revival before the Evangelist could even get up to speak she was so anointed when she took the platform what was in that mantle anointed so far holiness anointing and A Love For Truth all in this mantle all of it and while she was singing One night she began to testify and she testified so powerfully that brother Ray Hudson came to her her Elijah and said sister Gatlin the Lord is calling you to preach and she said no I'm a woman and then she said no I there's my husband doesn't served the Lord my children I got she had 89 children everywhere there's no way I can preach there's no way I can work for God like that he said okay three weeks later her daughter Cheryl got so sick she was dead literally at the point of death that nothing could be done for her and my grandmother was praying for her and she said Lord if you'll raise Cheryl from the dead I'll start a Revival terally at the point of death that nothing could be done for her and my grandmother was praying for her and she said Lord if you'll raise Cheryl from the dead I'll start a Revival Sunday night they said within 30 minutes Cheryl's fever broke and she was healed instantly and uh so there's something else in this mantle miracles what do you think when I walked in this church tonight the Lord said pray for miracles because there's 90 something in that mantle to believe me for miracles signs and wonders if you don't want it you don't have to have it you can listen to all these people say Miracles are not for today but the mantle you've been handed says it is [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and that Sunday night true to her word you started a Revival what's in that mantle true to her word anybody follow me true the whole word honesty Integrity is in that mantle she started a Revival that night brother and on the first night five grown men received the Holy Ghost she had never preached in her life never done anything and that 91 Revival lasted for 12 weeks in Holden Louisiana and people came from everywhere to hear sister Lloyd scapland preach and that night God affirmed to her her calling ing and that 91 Revival same local area there but she said I was standing in a strawberry field and I had one child on one hip and another child on another one trying to make ends meet because my grandfather was an 92 alcoholic and a partier and she said I was standing there and these words began to come in my mind and it was words to a song and it was the first song she had ever written my grandmother's written over a thousand songs uh we are kin to The Gatlin Brothers so music runs through that whole family but she began to write these words first song she ever wrote and they were so simple her songs were so simple people wouldn't sing them today they're too simple but it just said some say make ready for depression some say make ready for a war but what matters my friend is to be cleansed e people everybody and everywhere what was in that mantle what's the words of that song be cleansed from sin what was in that mental Holiness again Holiness was her message it was her life it was left over in her mantle holiness separation from the world cleansing from sin separated this is her mantle as she dawned that man or she grew into it and she enlarged it and one day her husband came 94 home from The Honky Tonk said tonight I'm going to church with you brother Roy Gatlin my great my grandfather he had blue eyes and wavy black hair and she wrote a song when he left her with all those children and I'll tell you that part in a minute but she wrote a song said there's no eyes blue enough know how waved him out no love strong enough to turn me around cause I've heard of the land ll tell you determination to serve the Lord no matter what it costs no matter what happens I never ever turn around that's what's in that mantle right after he got the Holy Ghost they got married no they begin to evangelize and then they built their first church in Springfield Louisiana after that they begin to evangelize together the whole time he's seeing women on the side and my grandmother 96 took him back
