(212) Shane Vaughn Don't Esteem One Day Above Another - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOz29H6ZnS8 Transcript: (00:00) so when we talk about keeping the Sabbath day you would be so shocked and surprised at how hard Christians Spirit-filled Christians will search their Bibles front to back trying to find one little scripture maybe two to totally destroy why we should keep the Sabbath day one of their favorite scriptures is where Paul said not to esteem one day above another so we want to deal with that takes me about 3 minutes to help you understand that verse number one let's get one thing straight Paul wrote that to men he told (00:35) men not to esteem one day above another but guess what it is not men that esteem the Sabbath day no sir not one time did a man ever say the seventh day of the week is holy man never said that never not one time not one time did man say remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy so therefore men have not esteemed the seventh day Yahweh did God esteems the Sabbath day so we are not esteeming one day above another the Creator is and we simply obey what he esteems so what did Paul mean I surely he had a point he (01:17) did one of the greatest embarrassments is when people try to argue their Doctrine without reading the the whole chapter of the one little verse that they find it's like digging for gold nuggets you know they find one I call it the Roman Rockets they'll find a rocket one verse and they'll shoot it at you it's a driveby shooting they won't even let you explain they'll just shoot you well what about Romans 14 and 6 and what about Romans 14 and 20 and what about well what about it stop slow down read the whole chapter and you won't (01:55) embarrass yourself no more because in fact when Paul was saying not to esteem one day above another do you know that he was talking about food oh yeah go back to verse one that's your homework assignment right now go back to the first verse of that chapter and you're going to find your context the whole chapter from the top to the bottom has zero to do with the Sabbath day did you know that no you didn't or you wouldn't embarrass yourself and try to defeat God's holy Sabbath with your coam many excuses from your your ill understanding (02:33) of the Bible go read from verse one to the last verse of that chapter and you GNA find food food food food food fasting fasting fasting that's what the whole thing is about is what day of the week to fast on in those days there was many pagans that were being converted to Christianity and there were many Jews that were being converted converted to Christianity and from both of those Traditions they fasted on a certain day of the week the pagans fasted on Fridays and the Jews fasted if I'm not mistaken on Mondays or Wednesdays I forget but it (03:15) was one of the two there was an argument among them in the Roman Church about which day to fast and this is when Paul says look don't esteem one day above another whatever is in your conscious whatever day you choose to fast on it's all alike in the eyes of God and so I that when you go read that chapter again you're going to find out what I'm telling you is the truth it had to do with fasting and as a matter of fact any good Bible commentary will tell you that the argument they were having in the Roman Church was about what days to fast (03:55) on and now these pagans they were very very sup ious um they were big in astrology very big in astrology and as a matter of fact astrology dictated their lives like it does a lot of Hollywood actors and a lot of politicians they would go to their astronomers to see what day was their lucky day or what day was a better day to get married on or what day was a better day to have a child on or and they live their lives they esteemed certain days above another Paul is instructing them them not to do that now here's your next homework (04:34) assignment I want you to go to that chapter from the top to the bottom and tell me if you find the word Sabbath day anywhere in that chapter there is not one ioda of a mention of the Sabbath day and yet these Christians Holy Ghost filled fire baptized tongue talking aisle running water walking casting out devils and everything else yet they're looking for every excuse in the world to keep the Pagan day of the sun rather than yahweh's holy Sabbath day and I love you I don't care if you ever do it but don't come to those that do (05:14) keep it and act like you know something when you don't because that chapter is about fasting and food so I hope that that it would at least challenge you to go back to your Bible start at verse one and read till you're done that's my motto I say that to our Bible college students go to verse one and read till you're done don't read till you get to the verse you like go right behind it and you'll find out what it means go above it because in this verse not one ioda not one ioda about the Sabbath day and once again it's not man it's not (05:53) brother Von that esteems the Sabbath day I do not esteem the seventh day above any other day of the week he does he said in his word the seventh day is Holy unto your God so I didn't esteem it he did and I just obeyed [Music]

Summary

This message teaches that Romans 14 should not be used to dismiss Sabbath obedience. The speaker says the context is food and fasting disputes among converts, not Yahweh’s holy seventh day. The Sabbath remains holy because Yahweh esteemed it, and believers are simply obeying what He already declared.
