Shane Vaughn Teaches - The Purpose of Life - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZnZCvOMQJA Transcript: (00:00) good morning this is Brother Shane Von first Harvest Ministries and I want to just bear some things that's been on my heart maybe help you understand a couple of things that you might be dealing with addiction um if you don't have a family member or a friend that is addicted to drugs or alcohol or sex or a plethora of devices then hang tight because you will it seems like the whole world is addicted now um people when you know when I was a young child our the worst addictions that we had I didn't have this particular (00:51) addiction but was probably cigarettes I mean you know that was just about the worst in alcohol which alcohol is a horrible addiction anyway but it seems like today in the world we live in everybody is addicted to something whether it's pain pills prescription medication I watched a loved one that I love dearly very close loved one of mine that went from a strong robust man a productive member of his community uh politician artist a chef just just talented I watch this robust man dwindle from the epitome of a man to an (01:48) unrecognizable creature and it's heartbreaking because I love this person dearly and I look up on him and I see the results of addiction and it seems like we are powerless to help these people we love them we pray for them only to be disappointed over and over I thank God that I grew up in the church that I fell in love with my Messiah the Lord Jesus Christ Yeshua hamashiach when I was a young boy and I believe that saved me from a lot of these addictions although I had my own addictions but not quite as debilitating as what I see people (02:36) suffering with today and so I have prayed and I've sought the Lord over and over and over of how to help these people with addictions and you know there's some wonderful programs out there but I think that there is an underlying reason for all of these addictions and here's what it is knowledge is power the word of God says my people are destroyed literally decimated for a lack of knowledge now not knowledge as an ABC DFG but knowledge is understanding and this generation is missing out on some key understandings and it's not their (03:43) fault whose fault is it I'm going to be honest with you I believe it is the fault of a lazy church now what I mean by a lazy church the church has been called to be the light of the world a city on a hill we are supposed to have a message that delivers men and women from the bondages of these addictions you know we want the easy way out we want to lay hands on them and see a dynamic deliverance and you know I suppose that's that's a possibility but it's not I don't believe it's the best form of Deliverance okay (04:30) but rather the best form of Deliverance is for people to have an understanding of what I'm going to explain to you what we need an understanding of every addiction is linked to a missing part of someone's life some people are sexually abused um I was I was sexually abused as a young boy uh more times than I prob remember grew up in the foster care system grew up in broken homes and when you have a broken home somebody's probably not watching out for the child to protect them as they should sometimes addiction comes in that way and (05:19) sometimes other ways but here is a key element that is missing when we fail to understand the purpose of our life it will lead us to try to F the void of not understanding our purpose and so many young people today are clueless of what their purpose is in life maybe somebody watching me right now maybe you're clueless of your purpose in life were you born just to wake up every day go to work struggle all day long long trying to make enough money to provide for the family come in at the end of the day so exhausted you can enjoy your (06:08) family go to bed wake up do it all over again for the duration of your life until you're too old to do it anymore and then you get forgotten by your loved ones and that's your life that's the of life when people no longer see purpose in their life they then try to find escapes from the reality of not knowing the purpose of their life now the church has failed in bringing to our understanding the purpose of our life and that's what I want to hopefully help you understand right now the church has taught us that the (06:53) purpose of life is to get saved so that we don't go to hell and that we can go to heaven when we die now if that's the purpose of our life then I have a grand solution if my purpose in living is to get saved get filled with the Holy Spirit be baptized and Wham there you go if that is the reason I'm living then why don't we start a project to where when people get saved when they come to the altar when they get baptized why don't we just give them a cup of Kool-Aid and send them on to Heaven if that's the purpose of life is (07:45) salvation then let's just end life at the point of s I know a crazy idea I get that but the point is hidden behind the craziness and if you have a mind to understand you will see what I'm getting at the purpose of your life is not to get you saved and this is the reason that people try religion only to be disappointed with religion they want help but then they come they get saved and that's the climactic end of their religious experience because why the church has failed to teach men the true purpose of life life the purpose of your life is (08:33) not to get you saved if it were we will go back to the coate example we'll get you out of here and there you go that's the purpose of living but you see God never desired just to get you saved his desire from the moment you were born was one thing and that's what I'm going to teach you on from the word of God right now his desire was not to get you saved his desire was to get you changed transformed renewed recreated reformed reidentified from something to something from what you ask it's real simple the Bible says that you beloved were (09:34) born an animal a son of man man is an animal he's no different than all the other animals of the field except his mind he has an ability in his Spirit or his mind to reason and therefore he is like a God if you will he's able to create things animals can't create anything you've never seen an animal paint a renois painting you've never seen them build a skyscraper you've never heard an animal play the beautiful chords of music only sons of men can do that now that's the only thing that makes us different than (10:17) the animals but in our flesh we were born animals the purpose of your life is to transform you from a brute beast from an animal unto something totally different a son of Yahweh that's the name of God it's funny when I say that word Yahweh how people is like who's he talking about that's the god that you claim to worship now I want to read you a scripture one that has always given me a reason to try to help people understand their purpose in life second Peter chap 2 and verse 12 it's talking about men like you and I (11:12) that have not yet been changed and here's what it calls them second Peter 2 and2 but these speaking about men are natural Brute Beast that is how the Bible describes you in your unchanged nature the way you were born you were born a brute Beast a son of an animal neither good nor bad but with the propensity to be bad far outweighing the propensity to be good so therefore you're a brute Beast you're an animal and the Bible says that you were created to be taken and destroyed in that nature as an animal now what makes (12:10) you a brute beast when you speak evil of the things that you don't understand when you hear men speaking evil of God of the ministry the church they speak evil of their president their governments they speak evil against dignitaries what you're hearing is the voice of a brute Beast an animal an unchanged person and this person will be a person nine times out of 10 that will become addicted to something in this life because they don't understand their true Joy their true happiness only comes from their change he said that they are they will (12:57) be destroyed they speak evil of things that they understand not and they shall utterly perish in their own corruption now let's go to the next verse and it's going to explain something to you verse chap chapter 2 verse 13 they shall receive the reward of unrighteousness as they that count it pleasure to Riot in the daytime you see that word Riot this is a people that's always angry about something they're angry about God remember the previous verse says if they speak evil about things they don't understand they're (13:40) always going off on the government going off on God going off on the preacher going off on the president going off on the church angry there is an uncontrollable anger in these brute beasts that are not changed the Bible said the wicked is like a troubled sea they're always boiling ready to get in a fight with anybody that crosses their path brute Beast animals animals of the lowest order no different than dogs and horses actually many times the dogs and the horses are better than the humans they're born with this iniquity (14:23) they will riot in the daytime they will fight they will have it out because there's not a change in them yet now listen to what he says they sport themselves with their own deception while they Feast with you he's talking to the church he says in the church there are these people that are angry they're mad they want a riot they're animals they're uncontrolled in their passions verse number 14 their eyes are full of adultery he said they can't control their sexual desires their animals you know a dog a dog will Mount (15:08) any in the yard he'll Mount them with no regard to who she is or where she came from he'll Mount her why an animal will Mount now now that word that I just said folks that's not a curse word that's a female dog the he will Mount her with no regard and and and when you see humans doing the same thing they mount any woman in town with no regard for marriage covenant no regard that she might be somebody's wife or somebody's girl no regard just animals everybody being satisfied with their own pleasure these are animals they've not been through the (15:49) change there's a change that begins to happen at the infilling of the Holy Spirit and it this is why people are addicted they have many of them begun at Mount Calvary but the church has not taught them about the change called sanctification we've only taught about salvation and therefore people come they'll leave the drug rehab house they'll go down to the preacher's house he'll ask them do you receive Christ as your savior yes I do and then all of a sudden they're still the animals they were and they go right back to their (16:28) vomit their slop because nobody told them salvation was not enough they thought that's the purpose of it all to get saved no my brother and sister you get saved after your process of sanctification salvation is a byproduct of sanctification it's not vice versa you don't get saved and then get Sanctified you get Sanctified and salvation is the end result of the sanctification but nobody's teaching that very few in the church anymore we ask people to give their heart to the Lord which is totally unscriptural by (17:10) the way nowhere in the Bible does Jesus want to come into your heart no no no the Holy Spirit wants to come into your mind he wants to change your way of thinking from an old animal to a controlled son of the almighty God now he says their eyes are full of adultery verse 14 they cannot stop sinning that's what it says now we know that the word sin is is the is a word for law breaking you can read this in your Bible the scripture says that transgression is uh sin is the transgression of the law well the law is the Ten Commandments of the (17:52) almighty Yahweh he said that these animals they cannot stop breaking those Commandments why why because in order for a change to begin in you from a brute beast from a competitive taker to a compassionate Giver there's a process and it begins in the waters of baptism the Bible said in Acts chapter 2 verse 38 repent and be baptized and there's no doubt about it at that moment you shall receive the GI gift of the indwelling of the holy spirit in your mind you see the entire change takes place in the mind and the Holy Spirit is (18:41) the holy mind of Yahweh it moves into the animal mind and begins to push out the animal ways in your life see you were born in a jungle you and I were born in a jungle called life just like the dog is Born In the Jungle the the uh animals are born in the jungle they are taught from infancy to survive it's in their DNA it's in their Instinct the animal is taught to kill whatever it must kill to survive and you know what you're no different you will take whatever you have to take to survive you're competitive you want to destroy (19:28) anyone from getting getting ahead of you you know why you're an animal you're a brute Beast you love sports more than the word of God because you want to win everybody wants to win and if you look at all the sermons being preached today on the radio and on television it's how to be a winner nobody wants to be a loser but you see J Jesus yua he was a loser in the eyes of man he did not win he lost lost but he was willing to lose you see there was no competition in him he preferred his brother I'm telling you (20:08) the church is in a mess the world is in a mess and the reason people are running to their addictions is they don't understand that the kingdom of Yahweh is coming to this planet very soon and in that Kingdom there's going to be a king a governor the high Governor his name is yua he will govern his father yahweh's kingdom here on this Earth but he will not govern by himself he will set up a planetary government that will rule from the New Jerusalem and they will be stationed men and women will be positioned in every city of the world (20:50) and every hamlet in every village there will be someone there representing this one world government yua now you see everything thing I'm telling you right now how you're like what is he talking about that's where the church has failed not teaching the kingdom message and because we don't understand what I just said in those two phrases the kingdom message because we don't understand that our people are getting saved they're getting the Holy Ghost they're coming to the Altar and they're going right back to their addiction there is more (21:27) medicine and Pres rpti medicine Addiction in the church house that you Pastor than there is in the world almost there's more divorce in your church why we're animals and no one is teaching that salvation is not enough you must be changed brothers and sisters why because yua is looking for a government that will rule and reign with him in the coming Millennium but how has the Church failed us they know nothing about the Millennium they're not teaching us about the Millennium and therefore we're not preparing for the Millennium we're not (22:10) learning the law of God we're being told there is no more law the law has been done away with brother V quit bringing people back to the law well let me tell you something you need to quit bringing them back to Rebellion against the law of God there's 's only one law of God it is The Ten Commandments that was was written in stone and then at the infilling of the Holy Ghost was written in our minds in our understanding and that law is transforming us the first law of God Thou shalt have no other gods before me now there's an interesting (22:54) story about that first commandment it's in the book of Luke a young man came to yua and said to him Master what must I do to have eternal life yua did not tell him what today's preachers would tell him he did not say just say that you believe on me and you'll have eternal life no that's not what he told him you see yua had a different message than the modern Church his message was repent and keep the Commandments of God the young man said oh no problem I've kept those Commandments all my life never broke one and yua said all right (23:45) now what I need you to do is go and sell all that you have and give it to the less fortunate I want you to get rid of that competitive Spirit chasing the dollar and I want you to have no other gods before you including the dollar and the young man tucked his head and realized he had never kept the first commandment Thou shalt have no other gods before me you see when the holy spirit moves into your mind into your thinking the animal nature says I'm My Own God nobody tells me what to do nobody makes me I'm a self Sade man I (24:30) made this job I went to school I earned my own money nobody especially some distant God GNA tell me what to do no preacher GNA tell me what to do who do they do they not know who I am nobody's going to walk over me you are an animal you are a saved animal maybe but an animal nonetheless that will not be in the government of yua why because if you have been changed you love to submit to Authority you love to prefer your brother see if you can't pass these tests then you don't have the Holy Spirit I don't care if you speak in (25:15) tongues more than you speak in English beloved it matters not if you've not been changed because the purpose of the Holy Ghost was not to give you Goosebumps it was not to give you you uh emotional Outburst it was not to teach you how to uh run around the aisles and dance in church beloved they do that in witchcraft meetings they do that in voodoo rituals that's not the purpose of the Holy Ghost they speak in tongues at the satanic temple that's not the purpose of the Holy Ghost the evidence that you have the true holy spirit is (25:57) you're being changed from The Brute Beast that you were to the submitted Son of God that you must become so those people that don't understand this then they have no purpose in life if the purpose in life is to wake up go to sleep go to work come home crash and then die then what then give me some pills for God's sake but you see I understand I'm going through a change I love the old black spiritual that says I I know I've been changed when you know you've been changed when you're moving out of the old and into the new you're (26:43) finding your purpose when you understand that you must become just like your elder brother yua that you must be a duplicate of him rather than him being your copout he must be your example that you follow in every detail this is when you will find the purpose of your life training for reigning and schooling for ruling this is why you have been saved so many people sitting on the church pew they think the purpose of their salvation was to go to church every week and and you know I'm not going to I'm not going to get on the Sabbath (27:30) right now but it's so funny to me how all these preachers say the Sabbath day was done away with with the law of God and yet if you miss that Sunday service they'll be calling you why have church once a week if you believe the Sabbath was done away with so anyway the point I'm making is you must find your purpose and your purpose is every day for the Holy Spirit to begin chipping away because the purpose of the holy spirit is to lead you and to guide you into all truth the purpose of the holy spirit is to take a chisel and to implant in your (28:12) mind the Ten Commandments of the almighty God the law of God so that you might become the law in flesh you might become the representatives of what the Godlike life is like so tonight if you're watching me and you're addicted to something I want to tell you something get addicted to your purpose understand that God needs you in his coming government he needs you to be faithful and loyal and submitted and obedient and humble and as those things begin to happen in your life You Will Rule and reign with Christ what better (29:01) purpose is there in the entirety of the world you must know that you must understand it you must one day let the light shine in you of the Kingdom message of the message of preparing now yua said if you suffer with me right now if you endure the Temptations that I endured and if you overcome them then You Will Rule and reign with me in my father's Kingdom if you're watching this video we would love to minister to you you can visit our website at first harvest church. (29:47) org also subscribe to our YouTube channel first Harvest Ministries and you will see every time we upload a teaching video it's time for you to change from that animal with that low nature to a to a new transformed son of Yahweh where you're moving from the jungle law which says kill or be killed which says survive at all cost into the law of Faith the law of faith says I depend on my father for everything now when you've moved from the law of the jungle to the law of Faith you will find a peace that is unspeakable and full of Glory when you (30:38) lay your head to rest at night knowing that you have pleased your heavenly father that you have loved your enemies that you have done good to those that Did You Wrong that you have taken care of your walk with God when you know that purpose you will sleep the sleep of a king you will sleep in peace and you'll no longer be like the Restless River or the troubled sea May Yahweh bless you and keep you good night

Summary

1. Introduction: The suffering caused by addiction (00:00–03:43) Vaughn begins by addressing people who struggle with addiction or have loved ones affected by it. He describes addiction as a widespread problem involving alcohol, drugs, prescription medications, sexual behavior, and other destructive habits. He recounts witnessing the decline of a talented and productive person whom he deeply loves. He expresses the helplessness families may feel when their prayers and efforts do not produce lasting recovery. He also acknowledges that his early religious upbringing helped him avoid some destructive behaviors, although he recognizes having struggled with problems of his own. He introduces the importance of knowledge and understanding in overcoming destructive patterns. 2. The church's responsibility to teach purpose (03:43–08:33) Vaughn criticizes what he considers the failure of churches to provide people with a meaningful understanding of life. He discusses the effects of childhood trauma and broken family environments, including his own experiences of abuse and foster care. He argues that a lack of purpose can create emotional emptiness that people attempt to escape through addiction. He questions whether human life consists merely of working, providing for a family, sleeping, and repeating the process until death. He criticizes the teaching that life's ultimate purpose is simply to receive salvation and eventually go to heaven. He uses a deliberately extreme hypothetical illustration to argue that, if salvation alone completed the purpose of life, continued earthly existence would appear unnecessary. His conclusion is that salvation must serve a larger purpose. 3. Transformation as the purpose of life (08:33–10:17) Vaughn teaches that Yahweh's purpose is to change humanity. He describes this change through terms such as transformation, renewal, recreation, reformation, and the development of a new identity. He introduces the contrast between what he calls the natural animal condition and the spiritual identity of a son of Yahweh. He argues that human reasoning and creativity distinguish humanity from other animals but do not automatically produce divine character. He teaches that human beings must undergo a spiritual change that brings their thinking and conduct into harmony with Yahweh. 4. Second Peter 2:12–14: The brute beast analogy (10:17–15:49) Vaughn turns to 2 Peter 2:12–14. He emphasizes the passage's description of natural brute beasts. He applies this language to people whose lives remain governed by uncontrolled impulses. He identifies destructive speech, anger, rebellion, sexual immorality, and uncontrolled passions as examples of the untransformed nature. He also discusses the tendency to criticize spiritual leaders, government officials, and others without understanding. He interprets the passage as a warning about the consequences of remaining spiritually unchanged. He connects uncontrolled passions with the vulnerability to destructive addictions. 5. Salvation, sanctification, and spiritual change (15:49–18:41) Vaughn argues that many churches teach conversion without adequately explaining sanctification. He describes people who make religious professions but subsequently return to destructive behaviors. He teaches that genuine transformation requires a change of thinking rather than a momentary emotional experience. He makes the distinctive claim that sanctification produces salvation rather than salvation simply preceding sanctification. He then identifies the Holy Spirit as the agent of spiritual change. He connects repentance, baptism, and receiving the Holy Spirit with Acts 2:38. He teaches that the Spirit changes the individual's mind and progressively replaces destructive thinking. 6. From competition to compassion (18:41–20:08) Vaughn compares human self-preservation with animal survival instincts. He argues that the natural person is inclined toward competition, selfishness, and the desire to win. He criticizes religious messages that focus primarily on worldly success. He presents Jesus as an example of self-sacrifice rather than competition. He teaches that genuine transformation produces compassion, generosity, and a willingness to put others first. 7. The coming kingdom and humanity's future role (20:08–22:10) Vaughn introduces the coming kingdom of Yahweh as the larger purpose for which believers must prepare. He teaches that Yeshua will govern the Earth. He describes a future worldwide government operating from the New Jerusalem. He envisions men and women serving as representatives of Messiah's government in cities, villages, and communities throughout the world. He argues that churches have failed to teach this kingdom message adequately. He connects that failure with believers' lack of motivation for lasting spiritual transformation. He teaches that those who will govern with Messiah must begin learning divine law during their present lives. 8. The Ten Commandments and the first commandment (22:10–24:30) Vaughn emphasizes the continuing importance of the Ten Commandments. He teaches that the commandments are written into the believer's thinking through the Holy Spirit. He focuses on the first commandment, which prohibits placing other gods before Yahweh. He then recounts the biblical account of the rich young ruler. He emphasizes Jesus' instruction that the young man sell his possessions and give to the poor. He interprets the young man's attachment to wealth as evidence that money had become an idol. He teaches that genuine obedience requires surrendering competing loyalties. 9. The true evidence of the Holy Spirit (24:30–26:43) Vaughn criticizes pride, resistance to authority, and the insistence on personal independence. He teaches that a transformed person becomes humble, obedient, compassionate, and willing to submit to Yahweh. He argues that speaking in tongues or participating in expressive worship does not, by itself, prove that a person has been spiritually changed. He maintains that the true evidence of the Holy Spirit is transformation of character. He describes this transformation as moving from an uncontrolled nature into the life of a submitted son of Yahweh. 10. Training for reigning and schooling for ruling (26:43–29:01) Vaughn repeats that the believer's purpose is to become like Yeshua. He teaches that Jesus must serve as the example for daily conduct. He summarizes the process as training for reigning and schooling for ruling. He briefly criticizes inconsistencies in how some churches treat the Sabbath and weekly worship attendance. He emphasizes that the Holy Spirit must continually work on the believer's mind and character. He describes the Ten Commandments becoming part of the believer's thinking and behavior. He urges those struggling with addiction to become committed to fulfilling their divine purpose. He identifies faithfulness, loyalty, submission, obedience, and humility as qualities needed for future kingdom service. 11. The law of faith and the peace of transformation (29:01–30:38) Vaughn closes by contrasting the law of the jungle with the law of faith. He describes the law of the jungle as survival at any cost. He describes the law of faith as dependence upon the heavenly Father. He teaches that believers must overcome selfishness and learn to love their enemies. He emphasizes doing good to those who have caused harm. He connects spiritual maturity with peace, rest, and confidence before Yahweh. He concludes by encouraging viewers to embrace transformation and find their purpose in preparation for the coming kingdom.

Core doctrine

Pastor Shane Vaughn teaches that the true purpose of human life is spiritual transformation. He argues that Yahweh did not create humanity merely to experience daily existence, acquire possessions, receive salvation, or escape the world at death. Instead, he teaches that human beings were created to undergo a profound change of nature, becoming sons of Yahweh who reflect his character and are prepared to participate in the government of his coming kingdom. Vaughn connects the problem of addiction with a failure to understand divine purpose. He describes addiction as a widespread condition involving drugs, alcohol, prescription medications, sexual behavior, and other destructive dependencies. He acknowledges the suffering caused by addiction and recounts the decline of someone personally close to him. He also discusses childhood abuse, broken homes, and the absence of protection as possible contributing circumstances. His central argument is that people who do not understand why they exist may seek temporary relief from emotional emptiness through destructive behavior. This is Vaughn's pastoral explanation, not a comprehensive medical account of addiction. He teaches that the church bears responsibility for helping people understand their purpose. Referring to the biblical statement that God's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, he argues that religious communities have often emphasized conversion without adequately teaching transformation. He considers spiritual understanding an essential part of lasting deliverance. He does not entirely dismiss dramatic experiences of deliverance, but he places greater emphasis on changing the beliefs, desires, and conduct that sustain destructive patterns. Vaughn uses 2 Peter 2:12–14 to describe the condition of humanity before spiritual transformation. He interprets the passage's reference to natural brute beasts as a description of people governed by uncontrolled impulses, selfishness, anger, lust, and rebellion. He compares the untransformed person to an animal operating primarily through instinct and self-preservation. In his teaching, humanity's purpose is to move beyond this condition and develop the character of a submitted son of Yahweh. He distinguishes salvation from sanctification and strongly emphasizes the necessity of sanctification. He teaches that an initial religious profession does not automatically eliminate destructive habits or rebellious thinking. He argues that sanctification must produce actual changes in behavior, desires, and character. At one point, he states that salvation is the result of sanctification rather than its beginning. This represents the theological sequence Vaughn presents in this sermon and differs from how many Christian traditions explain the relationship between salvation and sanctification. He identifies the Holy Spirit as the power responsible for transforming human thinking. He teaches that the Holy Spirit enters the mind and progressively replaces what he calls animal thinking with the mind and character of Yahweh. He associates this process with repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Spirit described in Acts 2:38. He emphasizes that genuine spiritual change must affect the individual's reasoning, priorities, relationships, and conduct. Vaughn teaches that the Ten Commandments provide the moral foundation for this transformation. He identifies sin with the transgression of divine law and argues that the Holy Spirit writes Yahweh's commandments into the believer's thinking. He rejects teachings that declare the commandments irrelevant to Christian life. In his understanding, the believer is transformed into a living representative of divine law through continued obedience and spiritual development. He uses the account of the rich young ruler to illustrate the difference between outward religious obedience and genuine surrender. He interprets the young man's attachment to wealth as a violation of the first commandment, which prohibits placing other gods before Yahweh. Vaughn argues that materialism, competition, self-sufficiency, and pride can become forms of idolatry. He teaches that true transformation replaces the desire to accumulate and dominate with compassion, generosity, humility, and willingness to submit to divine authority. He also challenges the idea that speaking in tongues, emotional excitement, dancing, or other outward religious experiences necessarily demonstrate the presence of the Holy Spirit. He maintains that the strongest evidence of genuine spiritual life is a changed character. He teaches that a person may display outward religious enthusiasm while remaining selfish, rebellious, or uncontrolled. The true purpose of the Holy Spirit, according to Vaughn, is to produce obedience and conformity to Yahweh's character. Vaughn connects present transformation with future participation in the millennial kingdom. He teaches that Yeshua will return to govern the Earth and establish a worldwide administration operating from the New Jerusalem. He envisions faithful men and women serving as representatives of Messiah's government throughout the nations. He argues that believers must prepare for these responsibilities during their present lives by learning Yahweh's commandments and developing the character necessary for righteous leadership. He describes this preparation as training for reigning and schooling for ruling. He teaches that believers who refuse divine authority now are not prepared to exercise authority in the coming kingdom. He emphasizes that obedience, loyalty, humility, compassion, and faithfulness are essential qualifications for future government. In this understanding, sanctification is not merely personal moral improvement but preparation for an appointed role in Yahweh's kingdom. Finally, Vaughn contrasts what he calls the law of the jungle with the law of faith. The law of the jungle represents competition, selfishness, survival at any cost, and dependence upon personal strength. The law of faith represents trust in the heavenly Father, obedience, generosity, and love for others. He teaches that moving from one way of life to the other produces peace and freedom from the restlessness associated with an uncontrolled nature. His concluding message is that believers discover their purpose as they become like Yeshua and prepare to rule and reign with him.
