before about Crossing the Rubicon the title of tonight's monologue is remember the Rubicon I'm going to take you to the Rubicon and explain to you why Julius Caesar had to cross that Rubicon when Julius Caesar was a young boy he loved his Nation of Rome he loved the Republic that they had built Rome was a republic Rome was built on the rule of law there was a legislative body called the Senate and this nation gave freedom and liberty to its citizens it prided itself on on (01:05) free enterprise its Pride was in its freedom all Roman citizens were free men Julius Caesar was one of those free men Julius Caesar decided that he wanted to fight for Rome and indeed he did and he became one of Rome's greatest generals Warriors as he fought to repair to to hold on to the Republic he fought to keep this way of life for all men to make Rome first in all the world that was his goal that's what he loved to do during his youth the Roman Republic entered chaotic times and he seized upon that opportunity (02:06) notice this listen carefully Rome was in chaos and here's Julius Caesar that came on the scene in the moment of chaos you know chaos like Obama's allowing transgenders in the bathrooms and gays in the military and on and on that kind of chaos the Republic was falling apart Julius Caesar came in and seized that opportunity he seized that moment after that he was so beloved of the people for his love for the Republic that he became the governor of a Roman province Spain and then he returned to Rome after he served his (03:01) Nation as a governor he came back to Rome and he formed political alliances that made him the governor of Gaul g-a-u-l which is now France and Belgium well Julius Caesar had to go to Gall and defeat them and that was no easy task he literally went and fought the swamp while he was there for 10 years fighting for the Republic he gained such notoriety and he became so beloved of the people that he literally became the de facto ruler of Rome even while the Senate was literally the ruler of Rome he was so beloved he was off in Gaul or Mar-A-Lago (04:05) wherever he was Trump Tower but while he was there he caused the people to love him and there he got very wealthy while he was in Gaul from all the plunder of the war he became a very wealthy man very so wealthy that he began to scare the Senate he began to they began to be very afraid of him because they knew that this wealth would make him uncontrollable and with the love of the people it would make him Unstoppable so after he had conquered Gaul while he was gone in the Senate there was another man Pompeii that began to pass laws (05:10) and begin to write laws that they knew that Caesar would violate just little bitty you know nothing laws but uh they they began to just write these laws while he was gone into the penal code and their plan was the way they were going to bring him down was they were going to find him in violation of these laws that they had written while he was gone they were going to find him in violation of the law that way that when he returned he could be arrested or choose to go away in Exile this was their plan he was too big he (06:04) was too popular he was too loved so here's the politicians over here playing with the laws playing with District Attorneys playing with statutes finding a way to make Julius Caesar a criminal against the Republic the Republic that he was trying to save the Republic that he was expanding in gold you see up until this point Rome was not an Empire she was a republic she was not tyrannical yet she was still a republic but that was about to change now Julius Caesar heard about their plans it was told to him what they were going to do (07:02) and there he is in Gaul increasing in power increasing in strength and wealth and it was agitating the Senators because they were afraid Caesar would become king so what was he supposed to do he could return to Rome and let them arrest him or remain at Mar-A-Lago and promise to not be a threat any further go away Julius Caesar go away stay out of sight and out of mind get off of Twitter get off of Facebook just stop and we won't find any of these laws that you violated go away Julius retire (08:06) just don't come back to Rome because you are a criminal here we wrote laws while you were gone of things you were doing over there nothing major but you know enough to stop you in your tracks Julius Julius Caesar loved the republic too much to be intimidated by their district attorneys by their prosecutors by their fake friendships he loved Rome and the republic too much to go away this was his life calling to save the Republic to make Rome great again so what does Julius Caesar do he walks up to a river called the (09:00) Rubicon that was a very shallow River that separated Rome from her provinces and as he stood there at that River he he had to make a decision whether to allow the Republic to crumble or to go back and rebuild it and yes that would mean going back and fighting his own countrymen to save his country as he stood at the Rubicon in 49 BC as he stood there he said that one of the reasons that he was going to declare war on his own Nation was so that because he knew and I'm quoting that he would be prosecuted for legal irregularities (10:04) from the district attorney violations of various laws passed by Pompeii the consequences would be exile so there he stands at the Rubicon hide out or declare war against your own countrymen he stood at that River he had to decide whether this was his moment or not should he go back to Mar-A-Lago should he allow them because if he'll go back they'll drop all these indictments if you want your life back Caesar trap if you want your life back go back home get away from the Rubicon but he looked over and he remembered the (11:02) Rome he grew up in he remembered the ideals of Rome being the greatest nation on Earth and he called to his men to prepare for battle and there he crossed the Rubicon he turned to his men and here's what he said to them according to the record he said he spoke to them about injustices done to him by political enemies how Pompeii had
