AMERICA: THE RESTORATION PLATFORM Why the Sabbath, the Sacred Name, and the Hebrew Roots Awakening Emerged from American Soil By Rev. Something that should not have happened here — if here were merely here. Something ancient stirring on young soil. Something long buried clawing its way back to the light. In the span of a single century — from the 1840s to the 1940s — a convergence of spiritual restorations took place on American soil so remarkable, so concentrated, so improbable that it demands explanation. The seventh-day Sabbath, long buried under fifteen centuries of Roman tradition, broke through the earth like seeds long dormant, finally finding the light. The Sacred Name of the Almighty — YAHWEH — was dusted off from Hebrew manuscripts and spoken aloud in assemblies across the heartland. The biblical Feast Days, dismissed by mainstream Christianity as "Jewish" relics, were rediscovered and observed with joy — and with them, the ancient Zadokite Calendar, the priestly reckoning of time that had been hidden since the destruction of the Temple, began to resurface among those who sought to keep YAHWEH's appointments by His clock rather than Rome's. The Pentecostal fire fell at Azusa Street, restoring apostolic gifts — and in its wake came the recovery of biblical government itself: the five-fold ministry of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers that the institutional church had flattened into clergy and laity, hierarchy and pew. And a growing awareness of Israelite identity began stirring among believers who sensed — who knew in their bones — that their connection to the covenants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob was more than merely spiritual. All of this happened in one nation. All of this happened within living memory of each wave. Sabbath. Sacred Name. Feasts. Calendar. Government. Pentecostal power. Israelite identity. One nation. One century. One undeniable concentration of restoration. The question must be asked: Why America? Of all the nations on earth — of all the places where YAHWEH could have chosen to restore these ancient truths — why did He choose this young republic on the western shores of the Atlantic? Why not England, where Sabbath-keepers had existed for centuries? Why not Germany, the land of the Reformation? Why not Jerusalem itself, the city of the great King? The secular answer points to religious liberty. America was founded on principles that allowed dissenters to worship freely, and so naturally movements that would have been crushed elsewhere could flourish here. That answer is true as far as it goes. But it does not go nearly far enough. It explains the mechanism but not the meaning. It describes the how but not the why. The answer is not found in American exceptionalism as the world understands it. It is not found in military might or economic power or cultural influence, though America has possessed all of these. The answer is found in something far older than 1776, far deeper than the Constitution, far more ancient than the Mayflower. The answer is found in covenant.The answer is found in identity.The answer is found in blood. THE THESIS IN BRIEF: WHAT THIS BOOK WILL SHOW Before we trace the evidence, let the thesis be stated plainly: America is Israel. Not metaphorically. Not spiritually. Not as a "type" or "shadow." America is, in significant measure, the literal, physical, covenantal regathering of the lost ten tribes of Israel — specifically the tribe of Manasseh, the thirteenth tribe, the "great nation" promised to Joseph's firstborn son four thousand years ago. This is not conjecture. This is not wishful thinking. This is not patriotism dressed in prophecy. This is traceable history aligned with specific biblical promise — prophecy that cannot be fulfilled by any other nation on earth. This thesis rests on five pillars: PILLARCLAIMEVIDENCE TYPE 1. The Sabbath restoration becomes Israel waking up to her covenant. The Sacred Name movement becomes Israel remembering the Name of her Elohim. The Hebrew Roots awakening becomes Israel returning to her Torah. The Pentecostal outpouring becomes the Spirit being poured out upon the house of Israel. The five-fold ministry becomes Israel recovering her biblical government. The Zadokite Calendar becomes Israel returning to YAHWEH's reckoning of time. America was not chosen arbitrarily. America was chosen covenantally. And the story of that choosing begins not in Philadelphia in 1776, but in Samaria in 722 BCE — the year the Northern Kingdom of Israel was carried into Assyrian captivity and vanished from the pages of conventional history. HOW TO EVALUATE THIS CLAIM: A METHODOLOGY Before examining the evidence, we must establish the criteria. How would we know if a modern nation were descended from ancient Israel? What tests could we apply? The Covenant Structure The birthright blessings flow through a specific covenant line: This distinction is critical. Judah received the scepter — the kingship, the Messianic line. Joseph (through Ephraim and Manasseh) received the birthright — the material blessings, the national greatness, the agricultural abundance. "The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's.)" — 1 Chronicles 5:1-2 Judah has the scepter. Joseph has the birthright. Both are Israel. Neither replaces the other. The Birthright Test The birthright blessings (Genesis 27, 48, 49; Deuteronomy 33) promise Joseph's descendants specific, measurable characteristics: Agricultural abundance — "the fatness of the earth," grain, wine, oil Adequate rainfall — "the dew of heaven" Strategic gates — "possess the gate of those which hate them" Massive population — "thousands of millions" Global dominance — "nations bow down," military reach The bull symbol — "glory like the firstling of his bullock" Any candidate nations must demonstrate these characteristics. Partial matches are insufficient. The fit must be comprehensive. The Deuteronomy 28 Test Moses laid out specific blessings and curses that would mark Israel. If a nation is Israel, it should demonstrate the blessings when walking in covenant and the curses when departing from it. America has experienced the blessings of Deuteronomy 28 when walking closer to covenant — and is now experiencing the curses as she departs from it. The Migration Test If the tribes were deported to specific locations (2 Kings 17:6), we should be able to trace population movements from those locations through intermediate stages to their modern homes. The migration must be: Geographically plausible Historically documented (even if the Israelite identity was forgotten) Linguistically traceable (name connections) The Timing Test If YAHWEH promised to restore scattered Israel to His statutes (Ezekiel 36:27), we should expect restoration movements to arise where Israel was regathered. The timing and location of those movements should correlate. With these criteria established, let us examine the evidence. PART ONE: THE SCATTERING — WHEN ISRAEL DISAPPEARED To understand why America is Israel, we must first understand what happened to Israel — not the southern kingdom of Judah, which remained visible throughout history as the Jewish people, but the northern kingdom, the ten tribes who bore the name "Israel" and who seemingly vanished from the earth. The Division of the Kingdom The story begins with Solomon's death around 930 BCE. His son Rehoboam, arrogant and foolish, refused the counsel of the elders and promised to increase the burdens his father had placed upon the people. The northern tribes, led by Jeroboam of the tribe of Ephraim, revolted. The united kingdom split in two. Judah and Benjamin remained loyal to the house of David in the south, with their capital at Jerusalem. The remaining ten tribes formed the northern kingdom, which retained the name "Israel," with their capital eventually established at Samaria. For two centuries, the northern kingdom existed as a separate nation. They had their own kings, their own priesthood (illegitimate though it was), their own religious system (corrupted by the golden calves Jeroboam set up at Dan and Bethel), and their own national identity. They intermarried with surrounding peoples. They adopted pagan practices. They ignored the prophets YAHWEH sent to warn them. And finally, after generations of rebellion, the judgment fell. The Assyrian Conquest: Biblical Record In 722-721 BCE, the Assyrian Empire under Shalmaneser V and his successor Sargon II conquered the northern kingdom, destroyed Samaria, and deported the population. The biblical record is precise: "In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes." — 2 Kings 17:6 Archaeological Confirmation The biblical account is dramatically confirmed by Assyrian records. The evidence is not obscure or contested — it is carved in stone and housed in major museums where anyone can see it. The Khorsabad Reliefs At Khorsabad, the palace of Sargon II (now in the Louvre and the British Museum), massive stone reliefs depict the siege and conquest of Samaria. The inscriptions boast: "I besieged and conquered Samaria, led away as booty 27,290 inhabitants of it. I formed from among them a contingent of 50 chariots and made remaining inhabitants assume their social positions. I installed over them an officer of mine and imposed upon them the tribute of the former king." This is not legend. This is royal propaganda carved in stone by the conqueror himself. The Nimrud Tablets The Nimrud Tablets (discovered 1952-53) contain administrative records from the Assyrian court documenting deportation logistics — rations, routes, labor assignments, resettlement locations, and population numbers. The Taylor Prism While primarily recording Sennacherib's later campaign against Judah, the Taylor Prism references the earlier northern deportation and the resettlement of foreign peoples into Samaria. The Black Obelisk of Shalmaneser III Dating to 841 BCE, this monument shows Jehu of Israel bowing to the Assyrian king — confirming Israelite contact with Assyria long before the deportation. This was ethnic cleansing on a massive scale, the deliberate depopulation of an entire nation. Destination Locations These were not vague, mythical locations. And then, according to conventional history, they disappeared. Lost. But Were They? Lost. The word itself suggests finality. Misplaced beyond recovery. Gone forever into the mists of history. But consider what "lost" actually meant. The Jewish people — the descendants of the southern kingdom of Judah — remained visible throughout the centuries. They were exiled to Babylon and returned. They were scattered by Rome and preserved their identity in diaspora communities across Europe and the Middle East. You can trace the Jewish people from Jerusalem to Babylon to Spain to Poland to America. Their identity never vanished. But the ten northern tribes? Conventional wisdom says they were absorbed into the populations of Mesopotamia and Media. They intermarried with pagans. They forgot their language, their customs, their identity. They became, in the phrase that has echoed through the centuries, the "Lost Tribes of Israel." Lost to historians. Lost to the Jewish people who remained in the land. Lost to their own memory. But lost to YAHWEH? Evidence the Tribes Were Never Truly Lost Biblical Evidence "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting." — James 1:1 James wrote to twelve tribes — not just Judah. They existed. They were scattered. They could receive mail. "Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come." — Acts 26:7 (Paul before Agrippa) Paul speaks of twelve tribes — present tense — "instantly serving God." "...to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." — Matthew 10:6 Yahshua sent the disciples specifically to the "lost sheep of the house of Israel" — a distinct group from the Jews in Judea. Josephus (c. 93 CE) "...the ten tribes are beyond Euphrates till now, and are an immense multitude, and not to be estimated by numbers." — Antiquities of the Jews, XI.5.2 An immense multitude. Not to be estimated by numbers. This is not absorption. This is a vast population, still distinct, still beyond Euphrates — in the very regions they had been exiled to. 2 Esdras (c. 100 CE) "Those are the ten tribes, which were carried away prisoners out of their own land... But they took this counsel among themselves, that they would leave the multitude of the heathen, and go forth into a further country, where never mankind dwelt, that they might there keep their statutes, which they never kept in their own land." — 2 Esdras 13:40-41 The tribes migrated beyond their initial exile — into previously uninhabited territories. This describes migration through the Caucasus into Europe. Tacitus (c. 98 CE) The Roman historian Tacitus, in Germania, describes the Germanic tribes observing a seven-day week and a day of rest — remarkable among "pagan" peoples, unless those peoples carried a fading memory of Sinai. Talmudic Evidence The Babylonian Talmud (Sanhedrin 110b) records rabbinic debates about the ten tribes: "The ten tribes will not return... Rabbi Akiva says: The ten tribes will not return... Rabbi Eliezer says: Just as the day darkens and then becomes light again, so too the ten tribes — even as it has become 'dark' for them, so it is destined to become 'light' for them." The debate itself proves the rabbis knew the tribes still existed somewhere — the question was whether they would return. Maimonides (12th century) "The ten tribes will not return and will not be lost... they will return in the days of the Messiah." — Mishneh Torah, Laws of Kings 12:2-3 Maimonides affirms the tribes remain distinct and will return. Modern Israel: Recognition of Bnei Menashe The Israeli government, through the Chief Rabbinate, has officially recognized the Bnei Menashe of India as descendants of the tribe of Manasseh. If the tribe of Manasseh can be identified in India, why not in America? The ten tribes were never "lost" in the sense of ceasing to exist. They were lost to Jewish consciousness — separated, no longer communicating, forgotten by their southern brethren. But YAHWEH never forgot them. PART TWO: THE PROMISE — NOT ONE GRAIN LOST The prophets saw what historians missed. While scholars trace migrations and lose the trail in the mists of Central Asia, the prophets speak with certainty about the fate of the scattered tribes. They did not speak of loss. They spoke of preservation. They did not speak of absorption. They spoke of protection. They did not speak of ending. They spoke of return. The Amos Promise: Sifted But Preserved "For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth." — Amos 9:9 The image is agricultural, and the ancient hearer would have understood it immediately. When you sift grain, you separate it. You scatter it. You shake it through the sieve. The chaff blows away. The rocks and dirt fall through. But the grain — the good grain, the precious grain, the grain that carries life within it — the grain is caught. The grain is preserved. The grain is accounted for. YAHWEH said He would sift the house of Israel among all nations. They would not stay in Assyria. They would not remain in Mesopotamia. They would be scattered across the entire earth — but not one grain would be lost. Not one descendant would fall through the cracks of history. YAHWEH Himself would track them, preserve them, and ultimately regather them. The sifting is not destruction. The sifting is sorting. The sifting is separating. The sifting is purifying. And not one grain falls to the ground. The Jeremiah Promise: New Covenant With BOTH Houses "Behold, the days come, saith YAHWEH, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, AND with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake..." — Jeremiah 31:31-32 Notice carefully: the New Covenant is made with "the house of Israel AND the house of Judah" — both houses, not just Judah. If the ten tribes had ceased to exist, this prophecy would be meaningless. The very existence of this promise guarantees the survival of the people. This is also why the New Covenant cannot be understood as replacing the Old — it is made with the same people (both houses of Israel), written on their hearts rather than on stone, enabling them to walk in the Torah they previously broke. The Hosea Promise: "Not My People" Becomes "Sons of the Living God" One of the most remarkable prophecies concerning the scattered tribes is found in Hosea: "Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God. Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel." — Hosea 1:10-11 This prophecy is stunning: 1. Israel's descendants will be innumerable — "as the sand of the sea" 2. They will be called "not my people" — they will lose their identity 3. In the same place where they are called "not my people," they will be called "sons of the living God" 4. Then Judah and Israel will be gathered together under one head The Apostle Paul quotes this prophecy in Romans 9:25-26, applying it to Gentile believers coming into the faith. But who are these "Gentiles"? They are the scattered Israelites who had become "not my people" (Hebrew: Lo-Ammi) — who had lost their identity, forgotten their heritage, become indistinguishable from the nations — now being called back as "sons of the living God." This is exactly what is happening in the Hebrew Roots awakening. People who thought they were Gentiles are discovering they are Israel. People who were "not my people" are becoming "sons of the living God." The Hosea Promise: Many Days, Then Return "For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim: Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek YAHWEH their Elohim, and David their king; and shall fear YAHWEH and his goodness in the latter days." — Hosea 3:4-5 Read this prophecy slowly. Israel would exist "many days" in a state of disconnection: Without a king (no monarchy) Without a prince (no nobility recognizing their heritage) Without a sacrifice (no temple worship) Without an ephod (no Levitical priesthood) Without teraphim (not even idolatry to mark them as a distinct religious group) This describes a people who have lost their identity completely — who no longer practice their religion, who have been "absorbed" by their surroundings, who do not know who they are. Yet still exist. And will "afterward return" and seek YAHWEH. This is precisely the condition of the lost tribes scattered among the nations — and precisely what is happening in the Hebrew Roots awakening. The Isaiah Promise: To the Islands and Distant Lands "Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; YAHWEH hath called me from the womb..." — Isaiah 49:1 "And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth." — Isaiah 49:6 The Messiah's mission includes raising up the tribes of Jacob — restoring the preserved of Israel. And the scope extends to the islands and the ends of the earth. Britain is an island. America was the "end of the earth" from the perspective of the ancient world — the furthest western lands. The preserved of Israel migrated to the islands and the distant lands, and there the Messiah's light reaches them. The Ezekiel Promise: Return to Torah "I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them." — Ezekiel 36:27 Scattered Israel would return to Torah. They would walk in His statutes. They would keep His judgments. If this promise is being fulfilled in our time, we should see scattered Israelites returning to Sabbath, feasts, and commandments — which is exactly what is happening across America and around the world. The Isaiah Promise: The Name Restored "Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I." — Isaiah 52:6 YAHWEH's scattered people will come to know His Name — not "LORD," not "God," but YAHWEH. This prophecy stands behind the Sacred Name Movement. The Ezekiel Promise: Two Sticks Reunited "Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand." — Ezekiel 37:16-17 The Two Sticks prophecy requires that both sticks exist at the time of reunification. Judah exists (the Jewish people). Therefore Ephraim/Joseph (the ten tribes) must also exist — somewhere, somehow, preserved by the hand of YAHWEH until the day of joining. These are not vague hopes. These are specific, testable prophecies. And they are being fulfilled before our eyes. PART THREE: THE BIRTHRIGHT — WHAT TO LOOK FOR Now consider the birthright blessings that Jacob pronounced over Joseph's two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh. These blessings are found in Genesis 48, one of the most detailed prophetic passages in the Torah, and they describe what the descendants of these two tribes would become in the latter days. The Crossed Hands Blessing Jacob was old and blind when Joseph brought his two sons to receive the patriarchal blessing. Joseph positioned them carefully — Manasseh, the firstborn, at Jacob's right hand to receive the greater blessing, and Ephraim, the younger, at his left hand. But Jacob crossed his arms, placing his right hand on Ephraim's head and his left on Manasseh's. When Joseph protested — "Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head" — Jacob replied: "I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations." — Genesis 48:19 Here is the prophecy, spoken four thousand years ago, that unlocks the identity of two nations in the modern world: SONBLESSINGPROPHETIC MARKER EPHRAIM (younger, greater blessing) melo ha-goyimA "multitude of nations" — commonwealth, empire MANASSEH (elder, lesser blessing) "a people... great" A single great nation — powerful, but one Moses' Blessing on Joseph (Deuteronomy 33:13-17) Moses' blessing on Joseph provides additional detail with the bull symbolism: "Blessed of YAHWEH be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath, and for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon, and for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills, and for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof...
