The Dire Wolf Lives Again: DNA and the Resurrection of the Saints- Pastor. Shane Vaughn - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7_aFuevCak Transcript: (00:01) 13,000 years in the making. Direwolves walking the earth for the first time since the Stone Age thanks to a remarkable scientific breakthrough. The direwolf is the first deextinct species. Until recently, the only way to catch a glimpse of the bygone beast was to watch Game of Thrones. But now, Texas-based Colossal Biosciences has recreated the canines by implanting fossilized genes into the greywolf. (00:27) We've taken a greywolf genome, a greywolf cell, which is already genetically 99.5% identical to direwolves, and we've edited those cells at multiple places in its DNA sequence to contain the direwolf version of the DNA. Colossal giving ABC News an exclusive glimpse inside their lab. That animal looks like a direwolf. (00:50) It will behave like a direwolf, and it is a direwolf. But as dire pups Romulus, Reheis, and Khesi grow, so does the controversy surrounding their existence. Some critics claim these new wolves aren't actually direwolves since they share so much of their DNA with their modern-day counterparts, while others are concerned that de-extinction efforts could have unforeseen or even deadly consequences. (01:14) Nature is far more complicated than our ability as humans to understand it or to understand all the possible unforeseen consequences. And so one wants to be careful. If you're mcking around with genes, you may produce a wolf that's twice as ferocious. The dire wolf may be the first animal brought back from extinction, but the lab doesn't plan to stop there. (01:36) Colossal hopes to bring back the woolly mammoth next. What could go wrong? [Music] 55,000 years they've not walked the earth. They were dead. Forgotten. Long gone. Bones gone. Ligaments gone. Nothing left. Buried today. They're back. No, really. The dire wolf is back resurrected from the dead. How? The exact way that Yahweh revealed to me 10 years ago that you and I are coming back through our code. They've done the unthinkable. Now, (02:40) whether it's good or bad, that's another discussion. And I think it's a horrible thing that they're doing, but nevertheless, it proves the point that you can raise the dead if you have the code. And they had the code. And Colossal Laboratories, a company out of Texas, has done the unthinkable. They have extracted the DNA. They found the DNA. (03:11) How did they find it? from a fossil that was well preserved in snow from what they believe to be 25,000 years ago. They just extracted the DNA, the code. They put that code in a cell and voila, the dead lives again. The direwolf is back. The names Romulus, Remis, and Khesi. Three puppies, a whisper from the past, a warning, and a witness. (03:54) Now, if mortal men can do this, what will the immortal God do with his dead sons and daughters? If mortal men can now resurrect the dead, God help every skeptic now that doesn't believe in the possibility of a resurrection. After all, how do we get the dust to come back to life? How do we get a dead body? You know, they would laugh at us Christians for even believing. (04:33) They would tell us we needed to go with science instead of superstition. But the problem is science has now supported superstition. The dead lives again. The teachings of First Harvest Ministries are vindicated. We've been teaching this 10 years before Colossal brought forth this evidence. Ecclesiastes 12:7 says that the dust will return to the earth as it was, but the mind will return to Yahweh who gave it. (05:21) Now the mind is the spirit and in that spirit is your personality, your memories, what makes you who you are. DNA cannot bring that part back. That part is not in your DNA. All it can bring back is your house. Now you might understand why the other part of you must be preserved not in your DNA but in your father's watch care. (05:54) The Bible said your mind goes back to God. He preserves your thoughts and your memories. He preserves that. Your DNA preserves your house, your eye color, your skin color, your hair color. The mystery of the resurrection is now and forever solved. You don't even need faith anymore to believe in the resurrection. It now computes. Now there is a ministry that that revelation was given to long before it was computed. (06:32) When I would teach that, people would look at me as if I had a third face. When a man dies and goes to sleep and his body returns to the soil, his mind returns to his maker according to the word. And there that mind waits just as that DNA code waits until the voice of the breaker calls it forth. When dust is reformed by divine memory, these three puppies have proven to us that our bones have memory. (07:17) spirit will be returned to our bodies by divine authority and our and the soul which is our living bodies are reborn in the resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:43 says it's sown talking about this body in weakness but it's raised in power. Daniel 12;2 many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awaken. (07:54) How will they do it? By their DNA. And there's the QR code to that lifechanging sermon. Now someone says, "What if the body was cremated? What if it was lost at sea?" Here's your answer. Yahweh remembers the code. The code that created these three puppies. Yahweh remembers the code. It is the code that creates. (08:32) The one that knits you together in your mother's womb will knit you again. He that numbers the hairs on your head will number the atoms in your ashes. He that called the stars into being will call your name from the grave. So I say to you tonight, don't fear the dust. Don't fear the grave. The resurrection is no longer a hope. It's a scheduled event. (09:04) And if wolves can rise from DNA, so can kings and priests, so can you. Isaiah 26 and 19 says, "Awake and sing, you that dwell in the dust. Your mind will not be lost. Your body will never be forgotten. Your name will never be erased. Yahweh will call. and you my friend will answer.

Summary

In this teaching, Pastor Shane Vaughn connects a contemporary scientific development involving genetically engineered wolves with his understanding of the biblical resurrection of the dead. The sermon opens with a news segment discussing Colossal Biosciences and its efforts to produce animals with characteristics associated with the extinct dire wolf. The report explains that researchers used gray wolf cells and genetic editing techniques to introduce selected DNA characteristics associated with dire wolves. It also acknowledges controversy over whether the resulting animals should be classified as genuine dire wolves and whether such experiments may have unforeseen consequences. Vaughn then interprets the scientific development through the lens of his previous teachings on resurrection. He states that First Harvest Ministries has taught for approximately ten years that the resurrection of the dead will involve the restoration of the human body through its genetic code. He argues that the scientific experiment demonstrates the potential of biological information to reproduce physical characteristics and presents this as support for his belief that Yahweh can restore a human body from dust. Vaughn turns to Ecclesiastes 12:7, emphasizing that the body returns to the earth while the spirit returns to God. He interprets the spirit as the repository of personal identity, including memory, personality, and consciousness. He distinguishes this spiritual identity from DNA, which he describes as containing the information necessary to reconstruct the physical body. He then proposes that Yahweh preserves the nonphysical identity of the deceased while retaining complete knowledge of the genetic information required for bodily resurrection. According to Vaughn, the resurrection will occur when Yahweh reconstructs the physical body and restores the preserved spirit to it. He cites 1 Corinthians 15:43 to emphasize that the body is sown in weakness but raised in power. He also cites Daniel 12:2, which describes those sleeping in the dust of the earth awakening, and Isaiah 26:19, which calls those dwelling in the dust to awake and sing. Vaughn addresses the question of bodies that have been cremated or lost at sea. He maintains that these circumstances present no obstacle because Yahweh retains the information and power necessary to recreate the body. He concludes by encouraging believers not to fear death or the grave, presenting the resurrection as a certain future event under the authority of Yahweh. Throughout the teaching, the dire wolf experiment functions as an analogy for Vaughn's interpretation of resurrection rather than as a detailed scientific explanation of how human resurrection could occur.

Core doctrine

Pastor Shane Vaughn teaches that the resurrection of the dead involves the restoration of the physical body through the creative power of Yahweh and the reunion of that body with the spirit preserved by God. He interprets the biblical teaching that the body returns to dust while the spirit returns to Yahweh as evidence that the physical and nonphysical aspects of human existence are preserved differently after death. He teaches that DNA contains the information necessary to reconstruct the physical body, while the spirit contains the individual's personality, consciousness, memories, and personal identity. According to Vaughn, Yahweh preserves the spirit and remembers the complete genetic information required to restore the body, even when the original physical remains have completely decomposed, been cremated, or been lost. He presents the genetic engineering of animals resembling extinct dire wolves as an illustration of how biological information can be used to produce living organisms with characteristics of extinct species. He argues that if human scientists can manipulate genetic information to recreate characteristics of extinct animals, the unlimited power of Yahweh can accomplish the resurrection of human beings. He interprets the resurrection passages in Ecclesiastes, Corinthians, Daniel, and Isaiah as supporting the future awakening and restoration of those who have died. He maintains that the resurrected body will be raised in power rather than remaining subject to the weakness associated with mortal existence. The central doctrine is that Yahweh will restore the bodies of the dead through his creative authority, reunite them with their preserved spirits, and bring the saints into resurrected life.
