The Bread Is Still Baking A Fresh Look at the Day of Pentecost Rev. John Shane Vaughn — First Harvest Ministries International ________________ 1 First Peter 4, verse 12 through verse 19 — if you will remain standing for the reading of the word of the Lord. 2 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is designed to try you, or to test you; I want you to notice that word. 3 Two different places in the Bible — do not think it strange; how many have ever been going through something in your life and said, wow, why did that happen to me? That is out of place, that is strange. 4 But what did God say? Do not think it strange when the fiery trial cometh to test you, as though something strange hath happened to you. 5 Next verse — but rejoice; not complain about it, not feel sorry for thyself, not accuse God of not loving thee — I need y'all to wake up now, it is time for the word — but rejoice. 6 When the fire getteth so hot that thou canst not take it anymore, what will separate the wheat from the tares is the ones that rejoice versus the ones that complain — that is what the difference is. 7 Inasmuch as thou art a partaker of Messiah's suffering, that when his glory shall be revealed thou mayest be glad with an exceeding joy. 8 Next verse — if thou be reproached for the name of Messiah, thou shouldest be happy, for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon thee. 9 How dost thou know when the spirit of God is resting on thee? I am fixing to show thee — not going to show thee the words, the word is going to show thee. 10 How dost thou know that thou art walking in the spirit? He just told thee — if thou art going through the fire, and if thou hast folks mad at thee, and if thou hast trouble, and yet thou art happy about it — then thou knowest the spirit of God is upon thee. 11 Hast thou ever heard the old song — do not worry, be happy? See, that is for the believer; if thou dost not feel happiness in thy life and joy, thou art not walking under the spirit of God — thou art walking under another spirit. 12 The spirit of this age — on their part he is evil spoken of, but on thy part he is glorified; dost thou know how God is glorified? Not when thou sayest hallelujah — I want you to help me now — not when thou liftest thy hands and shouteth hallelujah. 13 But here is when God is glorified — when thou art happy about thy troubles; that is what separateth thee from the world. 14 I feel like I am preaching to somebody; now I know I am preaching to me; how dost thou know the spirit of God is upon thee? When everything is against thee and thou art happy about it — God, give me thy spirit. 15 Somebody say — more, more Lord; I want to be happy when I am not supposed to be happy. 16 Next verse — but let none of thee suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a busybody in other men's matters; now notice what he said — there is a difference in suffering and trials that thou broughtest on thyself. 17 For these things thou canst not talk about — thou dost not want drama in thy life when thou createst drama; that is right — thou canst not talk about I am having trouble when the popo arresteth thee for stealing; see, that is not the kind of suffering he is talking about. 18 Oh no — listen, we will show thee what he is talking about; read — yet if any man suffer as a believer or a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this behalf. 19 Read — for the time hath come that judgment must — y'all thought I was going to preach a happy sermon, didn't thee? The way I was going — I tried, but then I got stopped right here. 20 Judgment must begin at the house — take that word house out, that is a bad translation — it should say at the family of God; what liveth in thy house? Thy amen. 21 Judgment doth not begin with the world — I preached it last Sunday night, if thou wast not here; it beginneth with the family — woo — and if it first beginneth with us, what shall the end be of them that obey not? 22 See, when judgment starteth with us, we come into obedience; but for the world, they go further into rebellion; what shall the end be for them? 23 Read — and if the righteous scarcely be saved — now for thee once-saved-always-saved folks, read it again — if the righteous, those that are living right, barely make it into that first resurrection — 24 Thou knowest what the apostle Paul said? He said, I do not count myself as to have apprehended the first resurrection; thou knowest thy Bible said that? He said, I do not know if I am going to make it, church — thy Bible saith that. 25 He said, but I do know that I am going to seek after it with everything I have got; where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 26 Next verse — wherefore, let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him — by just placing their faith in Messiah; is anybody awake? Is that what thy Bible saith? 27 How do we commit our souls to God — oh, by just believing? Well, the devil believeth; how do we? By well-doing; and what doth God call well-doing? Obedience. 28 Tonight I want to preach to thee that the bread is still baking — amen — thou mayest be seated tonight. 29 Now ladies and gentlemen, every year there is a group of people on the earth that do not keep the holidays of this world; they are a different people, they are a strange lot. 30 They keep a different set of holidays called the Feast of Israel, and it just happens tonight that we are right in the middle of one of those feasts. 31 Now I will not be here to celebrate the feast with thee — I have got to go back to work next week for two weeks — but the Feast of God is June the seventh; that is the last day of the Feast of First Fruit. 32 Now that is called the day of what? Pentecost; what doth the word Pentecost mean? Fifty; the number fifty in Greek is Penta — that is where we get the Pentateuch, which is the five books of Moses — five, fifty, Penta. 33 So if thou art a Pentecostal, thou art a fifty — that is what thou art, okay. 34 Now that taketh place June the seventh — that is a commanded assembly; if thou art in this local area on June the seventh, mom and daddy will have the doors open here that night at six o'clock. 35 Thou really — God said to be there on that holy day, so make sure that thou art here; I will be here with thee but I will be streaming, I will be watching live; but June the seventh is Pentecost Sunday — make sure that every one of thee come, because God said I want to teach thee a lesson that will change thy life. 36 Now the book of First Peter telleth us — and they have church here every Sunday night at six o'clock — but June the seventh is a commanded assembly, make sure that thou art definitely here for that. 37 Now Peter said that judgment beginneth with thee; if thou art in this room tonight, nine times out of ten thou hast given thy life to Messiah. 38 Whenever thou camest to the altar and gavest thy life to Messiah, sister Stephanie, thou madest a covenant with God, and here is what that covenant was — it was an adoption covenant. 39 Thou wast adopted into the family of God; thou leftest the family of Adam and thou wast adopted into the family of God; thou at that moment gavest God permission to be thy father. 40 So guess what else thou gavest him permission to do? To treat thee like a child, okay — and he is going to do it. 41 Listen to what I am telling thee now — judgment or correction beginneth with everyone in this room before it beginneth with the mayor or the police force or anybody else. 42 Listen to me — how many have been watching the news today with all the riots? I want to tell thee something — if thou art in this room tonight, thou art not of this world; get thy head out of carnal things and move up a little higher and be the light of the world. 43 Speak truth and do not speak carnality; thou art a different people, thou art the family of Yahweh. 44 Thou hast been called into a holy calling; now, many of us in this room tonight — how many in this room came from a Pentecostal, spirit-filled background? 45 One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten — the majority in this room cometh from Pentecostal backgrounds; I am fourth generation, my wife I believe is third generation; we have a long history in the events of Pentecost. 46 Now I was shocked when I got older and realized that Pentecost, the day of Pentecost, is a holy day — it is a feast of Israel. 47 Now we will all come together on the fiftieth day and celebrate the day of Pentecost, and we will celebrate what happeneth on that day; but I want to preach to thee tonight that the Feast of Pentecost is not about the fiftieth day. 48 No, no, no, no, no, no — it is about surviving the forty-nine days — y'all wake up. 49 Now the fiftieth day is not what the celebration is about; it is about the fact that for those forty-nine days, somehow we made it through; somehow, in a world of sin, we held on till the fiftieth day, or until the end of the race. 50 We are getting ready now to celebrate what God is doing in our lives on a daily, daily, daily basis — Pentecost, brothers and sisters, the infilling of the Holy Ghost. 51 Now let me talk to thee a little bit; we are good as Pentecostals about preaching about the infilling of the Holy Ghost — I have been preaching it all my life. 52 But I am afraid that we do not quite understand why we need the infilling of the Holy Ghost, because when thou receivedst the Holy Ghost, thou didst not arrive anywhere. 53 No — when thou receivedst the down payment of thine inheritance, thou arrived nowhere; when thou gettest to the starting line, thou hast not gotten anywhere — I need thee to work with me now, brother Van. 54 I remember when I got the Holy Ghost — I do too — it meaneth absolutely nothing if it doth not get thee through the forty-nine days of trouble and testings and trials of thy faith. 55 Thou dost not need the Holy Ghost to speak in tongues or to cast out devils; what thou needest the Holy Ghost for is to finish what thou started — to finish the race that thou beganst in an altar. 56 God is not worried about thy starting point — he is watching for where thou windest up on the fiftieth day. 57 This baptism of the Holy Spirit, sister Stephanie — I am going to say this — brother V, I need the Holy Ghost so I can have power; well, thou dost not understand what power is. 58 The word power, exousia in Greek, meaneth authority; we have got a lot of people wanting power; they love to lay hands on people and they hit the floor, and they love to prophesy — they love it — and I am not against it, I do it. 59 But brothers and sisters, that is the least, that is the bottom, that is the last of the purpose of the day of Pentecost; God could care less about thy power unless it giveth thee authority over sin, unless it giveth thee authority over a life of sin — it is not worth anything. 60 How many have ever heard somebody say — woo — how many have ever heard somebody say, I can do all things through Messiah? But when they tell thee why they cannot live for God — well, nobody can, thou knowest, live for God perfect — oh no. 61 But the Holy Ghost can; and if thou receivest the Holy Ghost, it maketh thee an overcomer — not a complainer, not a crybaby, not somebody that giveth up — every day thou hast got to make it through forty-nine days of trouble to get to the number fifty. 62 Yes, sir — hallelujah; the moment somebody said, when I came to Yeshua I found rest, he is my Sabbath — first of all, thou canst not find one scripture that saith Yeshua is thy Sabbath. 63 Because brothers and sisters, thou wast at rest before thou foundest Yeshua; it was not until thou foundest Yeshua that thy backside went to war — I hope thou heardest me now. 64 See, before thou wast filled with the Holy Ghost, thou wast at peace in sin; thou couldest dope it up, smoke it up, choke it up, sex it up, lay it up — thou couldest do it all without one moment of a battle in thy mind. 65 But the moment thou receivedst the earnest of thine inheritance, thou gottest a preacher that moved inside of thy head, and a war started that day, and it will not end until the fiftieth day, when thou hast finished the forty-nine days. 66 Paul said — do not think it strange when the fiery trials of those forty-nine days stay in thy life day in and day out; trouble on my left, trouble on my right, but in this will I be confident — the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear. 67 Oh, brother V — the fiftieth day is here; but what about the forty-nine? What about when thou gettest a call from the doctor that saith thou art dying — canst thou do what Paul said? Be happy about it. 68 Listen to me — thou hast no Holy Ghost if thou art not happy in the fire; I want to tell thee what the Holy Ghost doth — the Holy Ghost will give thee keeping power. 69 When thou hast the real deal, thou dost not know how to backslide; thou dost not even know how to back up; thou dost not know how to turn around, thou dost not know how to give up, because thou hast something that giveth thee power over the fire of thy faith. 70 This is what we are celebrating now today — what day is it? Doth anybody know of the feast — the count of the Omer? 71 I believe it is about the — I am supposed to be counting — I believe we are around the thirty-ninth day, and every day that we have been counting the Omer, it hath been trouble on every hand. 72 But I want to tell thee today — Paul said that thou needest to learn the forty-nine days is thy friend. 73 I want to show thee what the Holy Ghost is far — go to the book of Jeremiah, chapter 31, verse 33. 74 I want to see if thou really hast the Holy Ghost — oh, brother Van, I spoke in tongues — like I said, I want to see if thou really hast the Holy Ghost — oh, hallelujah. 75 Let us let the word talk to us; the book of Jeremiah, chapter 31, verses 32 and 33 — brother Kent, hallelujah, brother Kent, I appreciate the fine job thou doest back there; it is so important to have these scriptures appear here where people can look at them. 76 We are counting right now — it is the thirty-ninth day of the feast; we are counting up to the fiftieth day; yes, we are going to celebrate on June the seventh, but we are going to celebrate the forty-nine days of trouble and how we were happy about our troubles through it all. 77 That is how thou knowest the Holy Spirit is upon thee; now I tell thee, go to verse 31. 78 Can thou — now I want to show thee, as a Pentecostal, we have preached about this infilling for many years; but I want to show thee what God saith about it in verse 31 of Jeremiah chapter 31. 79 This is a promise of God to send his spirit to his people in the last days; if thou canst not get it there, I will read it; if somebody wanteth to bring me a Bible — there we go. 80 Behold, the days come, saith Yahweh, that I will make a New Covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 81 He doth not make it with Gentiles — no, no — this New Covenant, if thou art a Gentile, thou hast no covenant; no, no — only Israel hath a covenant. 82 And thou hast to be grafted into Israel or thou hast no covenant, and thou art grafted in by the circumcision or the infilling of the Holy Ghost. 83 I will make a New Covenant — next verse — not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, which my covenant they brake, although I was a husband unto them, saith Yahweh. 84 Next verse — but this will be the covenant; how many in this room is a New Covenant Christian? Can I see thy hand? New Covenant believer — we are fixing to find out. 85 I am going to make a new covenant with the house of Israel; after those days, saith Yahweh, I will put my law inside of their minds, and I will write it — I will write my law in their thinking — and I will be their God, and they will be my people. 86 Listen to me carefully — if the Holy Ghost that thou receivedst gave thee new tongues but it did not write holiness in thy mind, if it did not write the law of God inside of thee, then no wonder thou canst not endure. 87 Because the true Holy Ghost cometh wrapped up with a holy life, with separated living from the world; listen, listen to me carefully — tongues do not matter if thou dost not walk a life with the laws of God written from the top of thy head to the sole of thy foot. 88 Is that it? Go to the next verse — so the New Covenant is what? What is the New Covenant? Obey my law. 89 But brother V, Yeshua did away with it — with how? We have got a New Covenant then, because the first covenant was built on the law. 90 Now we are not talking about the laws of blood and animals and bulls and goats — we are speaking about the Ten Commandment law of God; this law cometh with the Holy Ghost baptism. 91 Now do not take me wrong — I never discounted the gift of the spirit, but they must be accordingly applied to the true purpose of the day of Pentecost. 92 Now we are in a transition period, and I want to talk to thee about the transition, brother Patrick; thou art in a transition period. 93 The forty-nine days that we are counting right now, sister Hope, are the days of transition, and I want to talk to thee about the transition. 94 Go with me to the book of Leviticus, chapter 23, and verse 10, and we are going to read every verse there to verse 17; now we are going to talk about the Feast of First Fruit. 95 If God did away with his festivals, then we have got a problem with the word of God; let us read it in Leviticus 23, verse 10, and we will start there. 96 Speak to the children of Israel — question: do we have any children of Israel in this house tonight? All right — now somebody that might have a problem with that may not understand what I am saying; thou sayest, I am a Gentile — no, thou art not. 97 What did Paul tell us? In times past thou wast Gentiles, but now thou hast been grafted into what? The children of Israel. 98 Speak to them and say to them — when thou comest into the land which I give thee and shalt reap the harvest, then thou shalt bring a sheaf of the first fruit of thy harvest to the priest; now, this happened about thirty-nine days ago. 99 After the resurrection of Messiah — he was the sheaf of the first fruit; let us read — and he shall wave the sheaf before Yahweh; when did that happen? When Yeshua was ascending to heaven. 100 He said, I go to my God and your God, I go to my father and your father; why was he going there? To be waved before and accepted as the sacrificial offering. 101 Read — thou shalt wave it, and thou shalt offer that day when thou wavest the sheaf a lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord. 102 Read — and the meat offering shall be two tenth deals of flour for a sweet savor; the drink offering shall be of wine, a fourth part of a hin. 103 Read — and thou shalt eat neither bread nor corn nor green ears until the selfsame day that thou hast brought an offering unto thy God; it shall be a statute — until Yeshua cometh it shall be a statute — forever throughout all thy dwellings. 104 Is forever over? That is why we still keep it. 105 Read — and thou shalt count — somebody say count — that is what we are doing right now; we are on day thirty-nine. 106 Thou shalt count from the morrow after the Sabbath, which is Sunday, from the day that thou broughtest the sheaf of the wave offering — seven Sabbaths; this is the fifth of the seventh Sabbath tonight. 107 Seven Sabbaths thou shalt count — read — even until the morrow after the seventh Sabbath; dost thou know when the morrow after the seventh Sabbath is? June the seventh — it is why we do it. 108 Thou art not going to believe why we do this — because I can point to every holiday I keep in the Bible; I can point where I am commanded to keep it. 109 Now thou pointest to me where thou art commanded to keep Christmas and Easter, and we will talk about it; I can point to every holiday I keep as a Bible command to be kept — y'all act like y'all done forgot this message, children — to be kept forever. 110 Even unto June the seventh shalt thou number fifty days, and thou shalt offer a meat offering unto the Lord. 111 The next verse — and then on the fiftieth day — I want thee to pay attention. 112 When we started this count, what did we start with? One piece of barley, or grain — one grain of barley, one little piece of barley. 113 This festival, thirty-nine days ago, started with this — watch me — one little man called Yeshua, or Jesus — just one; stay with me; remember the title of tonight's sermon — the bread is still baking. 114 Every loaf of bread starteth with a grain of wheat; it started with this; they went and put this in the ground, covered it up — because what is it that hath to happen to every seed for it to grow? It hath to go in the ground and what? Die. 115 There he is — this is the sheaf of the first fruit; but notice what God saith, and please listen carefully — this was not the focus of this feast. 116 Oh no, no, no, no — these fifty days are not about this; it is about what this produceth fifty days later. 117 He said on the fiftieth day, I want thee to go into thy houses and get two big loaves of garlic bread — may not have said garlic, but thou knowest that is the good kind. 118 He said, I want thee to go into thy house — I do not want thee to get a grain of wheat this time, no — because the purpose of this feast is not to celebrate Yeshua. 119 Oh no, oh no — oh brother, what art thou saying? Thou knowest what I am saying — the purpose of Pentecost is not about Yeshua; it is about what Yeshua is doing in thee. 120 On the fiftieth day, this hath grown into two loaves of bread; he said, now I want thee to go get me those two witnesses. 121 I am trying — I want thee to go in the house and bring out spirit and truth — yes, sir — I want thee to go and bring me a mature church, one that hath been baking in the fire, thinking not strange, children, when the fire is turned up on the bread. 122 The only thing that will cause yeast to rise is fire, heat — do not think it strange when I start with my people turning up the fire, because the bread is still baking. 123 For what I want to do in my church — woo — when y'all come together June the seventh, I will not be here, but I want somebody to bring those two loaves of bread to this church, and I want thee to shout and dance. 124 Why? Because we shouted about Yeshua on the resurrection, but on the day of Pentecost I am shouting about me and thee and what God is doing in our life through the Holy Ghost. 125 That Holy Ghost — the Holy Ghost cometh in — somebody say the down payment — there it is; that is why the Bible said I have begotten thee by the seed of the word. 126 Here is that one little sheaf that cometh into thy life when thou comest to the altar, when thou gettest in the waters of baptism — a little seed droppeth down in there — I feel my help now. 127 And then once that little grain of wheat getteth inside of thee, the next thing that hath to happen is somebody hath got to turn up the heat. 128 Hast thou ever heard a believer tell thee, everything was going good in my life until I got saved? Thou knowest why, do not thou? Judgment beginneth — the furnace is burning the family of God. 129 Because those two loaves of bread represent what God is doing; what is God doing? Transforming thee. 130 When thou receivedst the Holy Ghost, listen to me, thou wast an animal — please listen to me — thou wast like those people rioting today in Minnesota; thou wast an animal. 131 Thou wast like that police officer that killed a young man the other day — thou wast an animal; thou wast like that adulterer that cheateth on his wife — thou wast like a dog in heat; thou wast an animal, thou wast an old beast. 132 Thou didst what thou wantedst to do when thou wantedst to do it; thou hadst no constraints; the bridle had to come in thy mouth. 133 When thou gottest the Holy Ghost, thou wast a wild stallion running free, but then thou toldest the Lord at the altar — I want to join thy family. 134 See, thou thoughtest thou camest to get saved; thou camest to get burnt — I am sorry, they did not tell thee that; I am sorry they did not tell thee that part. 135 But I am going to tell thee something now — if thou jumpest out of the fire, then thou just provest that the spirit of God is not upon thee. 136 But when thou gottest happy about the fire — woo — when thou rejoicest that the fire of God is in thy life, that is how thou knowest that the spirit of God is living inside of thee. 137 Happy — somebody say I am happy on fire; God is turning up the heat. 138 Let me read it to thee — can I read it to thee? Somebody said — let us go to Matthew 3:11, and we are about to close. 139 Let us go to Matthew 3:11 quickly — how many have ever heard the Christian folks, the Pentecostals, the spirit-filled folks say, I was baptized with the Holy Ghost and — what? Fire. 140 Oh, I am afraid we did not know what we were talking about; somebody said, I want to be baptized with fire — oh, I do not know about that. 141 I want to show thee what the baptism of fire is — art thou ready? Matthew 3:11 and verse 12. 142 Here is what happeneth when thou receivest the Holy Spirit during the Feast of Pentecost, on the day of Pentecost. 143 I am going to baptize thee with water unto repentance, but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear. 144 He is going to give thee two baptisms — now stay with me; he is going to give thee the infilling of the Holy Spirit because thou askedst him for it when thou wast baptized; thou saidst fill me, he is going to give it to thee. 145 And right after he baptizeth thee with the Holy Ghost, he is going to baptize thee with something else — some fire — why? Because the bread is baking. 146 It started with old tough dough, but for it to become usable in the kingdom of God, somebody hath got to put it up to about three hundred fifty to about four hundred twenty-five degrees. 147 That way God can feed thee to the world; that way God can feed thee to a lost and dying world. 148 Oh, listen — next verse — and when he baptizeth thee with fire, his fan is going to be in his hand. 149 How many have ever been to — Karen and I went to a shop in Gatlinburg where they were making metals — it was a blacksmith; and when that metal would not ply, when it would not bend — yeah, what do they do, sister? They get the fan going, do they not? 150 Shh — a little more fire; see, thou wantedst the Holy Ghost, but I do not know if thou really wantest the fire. 151 He said, when he baptizeth thee with fire, he hath got a fan in his hand to make that fire hotter every time thou needest it to get hotter; every time thou becomest unable and thou gettest mad and thou wantest to do it thy way, he said — hold on, thou gavest me permission, baby. 152 Thou beggedst me to do what I am doing — do not get mad about it; rejoice, thinking not some strange thing when I turn up the fire; do not think it some strange thing when I do not heal thee when thou askest me to. 153 I am watching to see how thou respondest when I do not heal thee; and if thou comest back saying, well I thought the Lord was a healer — thou wantest some baptism of fire? I am going to give it to thee. 154 Because I am going to burn — I am going to burn — I am going to burn it all out of thee; I am going to burn every drop of it out of thee; every drop of the devil, every drop that looketh like hell, I am going to burn out of thee. 155 Why? Because thou askedst me to; sons of God — Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire — because thou dost not get the fourth man until thou gettest in the fire. 156 The fourth man is the Holy Ghost — he will come into thy fire and he will take that hot fire and turn it into the coolest breeze of refreshment thou hast ever felt in thy life; it will taste like a drink of living water, even though it burneth, even though it is hot. 157 Think not strange when I send the fire to try thee — that is what thou askedst me for — because judgment beginneth with the family. 158 See, when Yahweh — when the second coming happeneth — the Bible said he is coming with fire in his eyes for the world; the Bible said when he openeth his mouth it will be so hot that people's skin will melt off their bones. 159 But can I tell thee — before he doeth it to the world, he is doing it to the bread first. 160 Now thou knowest why we are called first harvest — we are first; first resurrection, first judgment, first testing, first burning. 161 Because whenever he getteth us ready, then he can turn in the Millennium to the whole world and offer them the bread of life through his sons, that will bring revival from one end of the earth to the other. 162 Why? Because everything that looked like Stephanie was burned out, everything that looked like Hope was burned out, everything that looked like Butch was burned out, and all that is left is the grain that was started in thee. 163 The bread is still baking — God, burn me a little more. 164 And I am going to thoroughly purge my floor — not the whole floor, my floor; this is his floor; this is why he calleth us into sacred assembly, so that we can burn in his presence. 165 And I am going to gather the wheat — listen. 166 The only way that barley becometh wheat is through the threshing floor; thou startedst out in thy walk with God as old rough barley — stay with me, I am almost done. 167 How many have ever seen how rough barley is? Thou canst not make no bread with barley — I need thy full attention now. 168 Thou canst not make nothing with barley; all thou canst do is feed the animals; but notice what he said — when I give thee the Holy Ghost, I am going to start pumping up the fire, turn thee into wheat. 169 I am going to turn thee into bread; I am going to turn thee into the purpose of Pentecost — to create Smyrna and Philadelphia; to create — y'all do not know what the two witnesses are — to create the two witnesses. 170 That is going to come forth from the fire of judgment that happeneth in the house of God; but for those that will not bake, I am going to burn them all the way up — there is thy baptism of fire; art thou sure thou wantest it? 171 I am closing, and y'all are fine; this is my first close — I have not said that yet — two, thou art about right; I have got two verses after that, but anyway. 172 I want to turn in closing to Revelation 6 and 6 — would it make y'all feel better if I asked Karen to come to the piano? That normally meaneth I will hurry — well, I am not ready for her yet. 173 Revelation 6 and 6 — is anybody getting anything out of this Feast of Pentecost? Hallelujah. 174 Revelation 6 and 6 — I want to show thee something; now this really is my final few scriptures. 175 Revelation 6 and 6 — I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say — from this moment forward, saints, thou hast got to put thy spiritual thinking cap on with me; we are going into the spirit now. 176 A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny, but see that thou hurt not the oil and the wine. 177 What he saith here is that at the coming of the Lord, I will place very little value on barley Christians — oh yeah. 178 What are barley Christians? The ones that never baked, the ones that never became the bread of life, the ones that were full of themselves instead of the husk of the spirit. 179 He said, I will give thee one penny for three — bring me three measures of barley and I will give thee one penny for it; why? Because I love those barley Christians — I am not sending them to hell, I love them — but I cannot use them. 180 But I tell thee what — if thou hast any wheat, I will give thee a penny for just one of those, because they are worth more to my kingdom than the barley is. 181 In other words, I will give thee a penny, but I need three of those rebellious Christians that will not burn — I love them, but no value; but I tell thee what I will do — 182 If thou hast some of that good wheat that was willing to burn in the fire, I will increase the value of those, and I will give thee one penny for just one of those — my God. 183 But hold on — now this year we found out something that we did not know last year about the Feast of First Fruit; everybody in the church world is only preaching about the Feast of barley and wheat, which is the first fifty days. 184 But in 1948, in the Qumran Scrolls, we found the calendar of the priests of Zadok, and we found out that in the house of Israel for over a thousand years, at the end of the first fifty days, they did not stop counting like we do. 185 We found out that they started counting all over again — another fifty days; dost thou know why? Because at the end of that fifty days was another first fruit that came forth — it was called wine, the new wine. 186 But they did not stop there — the moment that fifty days came, they started all the way over and now they started counting fifty more days, because at the end of that fifty days came the Feast of the oil. 187 And dost thou know what happened right after the Feast of oil? The Feast of Trumpets — the coming of the Lord. 188 I need somebody to work with me right quick now; here is what God said — when thou camest to this altar, brother Ricky, thou camest in at a barley level. 189 Thou wast rough, thou wast tough, thou wast unbreakable; thou wast Ricky on God, thou wast rebellious; but thou wantedst to be saved, thou didst not want to go to hell, but thou also didst not want to be changed — that is a barley Christian. 190 I feel my — I feel the revelation of the spirit of God; but when thou receivedst the Holy Ghost at the altar, it began cracking, it began breaking that old husk. 191 Because the wheat germ is inside thy rebellion; the wheat germ that we need to find to produce a loaf — he hath got to break thee, he hath got to burn thee, because the fire cracketh that rebellion. 192 I feel my help — and we are going to turn thee into wheat; now those Christians are thy sixty-fold believers. 193 But there is another category here that God placeth greater value on — oh my God; he said, I will put a price on the barley Christian and even the wheat Christian, but if that Christian will let me continue to burn them, I will produce something better than bread. 194 There are two more levels in thy walk with God — remember, barley is the food of animals, wheat is the food of men, wine is the food of kings, but oil was always said to be the food of the gods. 195 Now why? Because it is the most hardest thing to extract from thy life — the oil of gladness; remember — think it not strange, be happy. 196 Dost thou have the oil of gladness? If thou dost, God is going to find it when he burneth thee. 197 Notice what he said — I will pay thee for the barley and I will pay thee for the wheat; but I want to tell thee something about those that let me turn them into wine and oil — they are invaluable to me; do not thou let nothing touch them. 198 The Feast of Pentecost is about thy change from barley to oil; and ladies and gentlemen, dost thou know when the Feast of oil is? 199 It is real simple — if barley to wheat is fifty days, and if wheat to wine is fifty days, and if wine to oil is fifty days — this is a symbol of the continual work of the Holy Spirit in thy life, of thy change. 200 And listen carefully — if thou lettest him keep burning thee, thou art going to become kings and priests; because the oil representeth the priesthood and the wine representeth kingship. 201 And who is it that is going to rule during the Millennium? Thou hast made us kings and priests unto our God — oil and wine. 202 The Holy Spirit did not stop when he filled thee — he started; and that is why I tell folks, if thou art operating in the gifts of the Spirit but thou art not changing, thou art not being transformed, thou art not glad when all men hate thee — then it is possible that thou hast a different Holy Spirit than the one that is true. 203 This spirit will make thee faithful, because in thy barley level thou wast not faithful. 204 And thou knowest the sad thing about this sermon tonight? Thou knowest the sad thing? Some of thee are bored with it. 205 Dost thou know why? Because thou hast no desire to be pleasing to the Lord; thou wantest to be saved — how selfish, how selfish. 206 I just came to the Lord for what I could get — he knoweth; but there are some that came to him for what they could give. 207 I surrender all — let us stand tonight and sing it with us. 208 We have come to pour our praise on him like oil from Mary's alabaster box; do not be angry if I wash his feet with my tears and dry them with my hair. 209 Thou wast not there the night he found me; thou couldest not feel what I felt when he wrapped his loving arms around me; and thou dost not know the cost of the oil in my alabaster box. 210 I have come to pour my praise on him like oil from Mary's alabaster box; do not be angry when I wash his feet with my tears and dry them with my hair. 211 Thou wast not there the night he found me; thou wouldest not feel what I felt when he wrapped his loving arms around me; and thou dost not know the cost of the oil. 212 Oh, thou dost not know the cost of my praise; thou dost not know the cost of the oil in my alabaster box. 213 If thou art in this room tonight and thou sayest, pastor Vaughn, I want to be broken, I want to surrender, I want to surrender — I want God to make me something he can use. 214 And tonight, if thou art serious and thou art ready to give it all up for him, I want thee to slip out of thy pew and I want thee to find a place to pour thy oil out — to pour thy oil out. 215 Sing that oil — sing about that oil; as they come, I want thee to find a place to pour that oil out tonight. 216 If thou dost not want to do it, do not come; but if thou wantest to surrender and let him burn thee and break thee and pour out the oil, please come tonight. 217 Mary's alabaster box — do not be angry if I wash his feet with my tears and dry it with my hair; thou wast not there the night he found me, thou didst not feel what I felt when he wrapped his loving arms around me, and thou dost not know the cost of the oil. 218 Thou dost not know the cost of my praise; thou dost not know the cost of the oil in my alabaster box. 219 Mercy said no — I am not going to let thee go, I am not going to let thee slip away, thou dost not have to be afraid; mercy said no. 220 Sin was going to take control; life and death stood face to face — oh, but mercy, mercy said no. 221 I come to pour my praise on him like oil from Mary's alabaster box; do not be angry if I wash his feet with my tears and dry them with my hand. 222 Thou wast not there the night he found me; thou didst not feel what I felt when he wrapped his loving arms around me; and thou dost not know the cost of the oil. 223 For everybody else, would thou come now and let us just worship for a moment? 224 My praise — everybody, would thou come? Everybody, would thou just stand in his presence? Come on — thou hast nowhere else to go, thou hast nothing else to do; this is the Sabbath day, come and stand in the presence of the Lord. 225 Take me to the king — I do not have much to bring, my heart is torn in pieces, here is my offering. 226 If thou dost not have the Holy Spirit, thou canst receive it tonight; all thou hast to do is repent of thy sins and ask the Lord to baptize thee with his glory — the ghost to thee. 227 This — take me to the king; take me to the king; take me to the king — sing it tonight. 228 I do not have much to bring, my heart is torn in pieces, here is my offering; take me to the throne, leave me there alone to gaze upon thy glory and sing to thee the song — take me to the king.

Summary

This teaching reframes Pentecost as a process rather than a single event, emphasizing the forty-nine days of testing that lead to spiritual maturity. Drawing from the Feast of Firstfruits and the counting of the Omer, the message presents the Holy Spirit as the agent of transformation through fire and obedience. The sermon calls believers to move beyond initial experience into a life that produces lasting fruit.
