(103) Shane Vaughn Teaches - How To Endure Temptation - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpUhdD9UvC0 Transcript: (00:07) good evening everybody all over the world from coast to coast and from Shore to Shore this is Brother Shane Von with first Harvest Ministries and uh pardon the noise in the background I've been driving for 12 straight hours and got four more hours to go so I'm going to let y'all keep me company tonight God bless every one of you I hope that every one of you are doing well and every one of you are blessed and highly favored of the Lord I just thank God for my friends here on Facebook and YouTube we're up to 13,000 (00:55) subscribers now our small Ministry on YouTube it's reaching the world and if you've not yet subscribed to our YouTube channel why don't you hop over there right now and do that and you'll have access to 400 of our teaching and singing videos just go to YouTube and type in first Harvest Ministries and you'll get right there amen I want to talk to you for a few minutes tonight about the subject of Temptation if you've lived a half a second then you will have faced Temptation in your life and I want to talk to you about what temptation (01:42) is and more importantly how to deal with temptation and I want to read to you from the book of James 1 and verse 12 and since I'm driving I'm not going to read I'm going to quote it from the best of my memory but you can turn there James 1:12 and this is an interesting verse it said blessed is the man that endures Temptation for after he is tried he shall receive the crown of life now the reason this verse is so interesting is because it completely opposes the modern day teaching of Salvation now the modern day teaching of (02:39) Salvation says that you're saved the moment that you say you believe Jesus is Lord that you're saved but the brother of Jesus James seems to have a different take on the matter he said blessed is the man that endures Temptation for after after he has been put on trial that were tried there if you look it up it's pisos and the Greek it means to be put on trial after he's been put on trial then and after he has pass those tests and after he has been approved then he receives the crown of eternal life now the church that you grew up in (03:43) says that you received the crown of eternal life the moment you shook the preacher's hand the moment you were baptized the moment you went down to the altar or ask Jesus into your heart so we've got to decide tonight Who's telling the the truth the brother of Our Lord or your preacher and it's imperative that you deal with this subject because the Crown of Life is the gift of eternal life and James says that you do not get that reward until you have been put on trial so I want to talk to you about that particular trial that he's talking (04:31) about and you're like what trial well the next verse will explain to you what trial James is talking about now I don't have the verse in front of me so I'm just going to give you the gist of it uh he said that um every man every man when he's tempted uh is not tempted by God because God Yahweh cannot be tempted with evil then he goes on to say that man is tempted and carried away by his own lust now I want to talk to you about that for just a moment because the Temptation is the trial that you must endure blessed is the man that (05:30) endures Temptation or in other words overcomes all the Temptations because after he's been put on the trial the trial of Temptations then he will receive eternal life so what Temptation do we all have I'm going to tell you that you and I have the exact same Temptation neither one of us have any different Temptation than the other one as a matter of fact yua Jesus the Bible said he was tempted just like you and I are tempted but thank God for Jesus thank God that he passed the trial by enduring the Temptation and then he (06:26) received uh his reward which was all of Authority being given unto him in heaven and in Earth by his father Yahweh now let me ask you a question you might know someone that struggles with alcoholism or prescription drugs or sexual perversion or maybe you know a a kleptomaniac somebody that steals maybe you know a con artist someone that is always conning people and you always think what their Temptations how different their Temptations are from your own but I'm going to teach you real quick the same Temptation that is common (07:14) to every man and here it is the Temptation that we all share is this a legitimate need we all have a legitimate need need every one of us have needs every single one of us has needs and um those needs must be met whether those needs are Financial whether those needs are Health uh situations uh maybe those needs are relationships uh we all have sexual needs we're created with that perfectly normal every single one of us have a have needs to be uh appreciated we have needs to be important we have needs to have value we all have a need to be (08:18) respected these are needs that every one of us have now the Temptation is this whether we will meet that legitimate need with a legitimate way or an illegitimate way now I hope you heard what I just said the Temptation that every man faces is how to meet his need legitimately or illegitimately or in other words God's way or my way and that is what temptation is Temptation is trying to meet a need through either your way or God's way let's take a perfect example your light bill has to be paid every one of us have a need for our (09:22) power bill to be paid now some people will find illegitimate illegal means to meet that light bill they will go out they will steal they will con they will lie they will deceit they'll do whatever must be done to meet the need in their life there's another group of people they're facing the same need they have the same fear that their lights are going to be cut off but they decide to fall on their knees and depend on their heavenly father to meet their need when that person chooses to ask the father to depend on the (10:14) father then that person has been put on trial and they have endured the temptation to meet the need illegally now follow me to the mountain of Temptation there stands our Lord and Messiah yua what is his need well at that moment he was thirsty at that moment he was hungry he had a physical need he needed to be fed he needed his body to be provided for and so here comes the tempter now the tempter is not going to make Jesus fail the Temptation he's simply an Enticer that God uses to prove what's in you and so Satan tells the Lord hey I know you're (11:19) hungry that's a legitimate need now I want you to meet that need by turning those stones into bread but you see you have to remember something Jesus said I can do nothing on my own Jesus knew yua knew he could do nothing on his own and he also said I don't do anything that the father doesn't tell me to do because my father is greater than I am and so now what is his temptation to take advantage of his power and meet the need in his life by turning those stones to bread or by waiting on the father to provide his (12:09) need ladies and gentlemen he passed the Temptation he did not turn those stones in the bread he knew that his father had not told him to do that and he was obedient to doing it God's way many of you listening to me tonight you have needs in your life and the Temptation is so great sometime to do it your way but I want to tell you if you're truly a child of God the Bible said that if we are children of God we will ask the father loves when we ask him to meet our need because what we do whenever we bow down to him and ask him (12:58) to send us a wife to send us a husband we don't go out to the bar rooms and the chat rooms and try to meet our own need illegally we have sexual needs we don't do it illegally outside of wedlock now once you get married do whatever you want to do as long as you're in a covenant with your husband or wife because now you're doing it God's way the marriage bed is undefiled if you're married all your sexual needs your fantasies whatever they're provided for in the legal way God's way so endure Temptation my brother and sister the temptation to (13:38) meet your need outside of God's way let me give you another Temptation many of you are facing Financial obstacles in your life tomorrow you got a bill due and you've got God's tithe money in your pocket and oh man it's just enough to pay your bill but you know there comes a point where you said no God said to give to him first what are you going to do are you going to depend on your heavenly father and give him his part first or are you going to meet your need illegally by taking his part well if you do fail the (14:22) test then what happens is you will not be counted Worthy of the first resurrection the Temptation that you must overcome in this life is depending on yourself to meet your needs I want to encourage you that's listening to me whatever your need is tonight I don't know what some of you are going through some of you your marriage might be in trouble maybe you're addicted you know just think about an alcoholic they have a need in their life it's to escape from the the horrors in their life it's to escape from the things the (15:09) guilt that they have but you know there's a legal way to escape it's called prayer it's called worship where he said come and dwell under the shadow of the almighty there's a God way to escape but when you don't choose that way then you will be carried away by your own Lust by your own desire to do it your way why don't you depend on your heavenly father tonight he sees the need in your life he understands what you're going through and he sees your future he sees that you've already come out of what you're going through but he's (15:55) waiting for somebody to cry help Lord he's waiting for somebody to give up the gavel in your own life and trust him so tonight blessed is the man that endures Temptation because once he has been put on trial and it's been proven that he chose God's way then he shall receive eternal life God bless you have a good night

Summary

This teaching explains temptation as the proving ground of the believer. Every person has real needs, but the trial is whether those needs will be met through Yahweh’s order or through self-will, lust, fear, theft, rebellion, or compromise. Yahshua is presented as the pattern of obedience because He refused to act independently from the Father, and the believer is called to endure in the same way until approved for the crown of life.
