Shane Vaughn Teaches "Originalism vs. Original Intent" - a Constitutional lesson to help Patriots - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2q6UQdufs0 Transcript: (00:02) [Music] hello class this is your friendly neighborhood Professor Toto just like the dog in The Wizard of Oz pulling back the curtain on the liberal lies so I want to I need to assure you folks that are supporting Donald Trump I need to really talk to you because the fear that I see in some of you it's heartbreaking and I want to help settle that fear there is a process that is working if you've ever been out by the ocean and you watch the E and the flow of the Waves coming against the ocean when the waves come in they crash (00:55) and the waves are dramatic they look dramatic but then those waves disappear and what's left the Bedrock the stone is still standing solid ladies and gentlemen God divinely gave this nation a document called the Constitution and the Constitution does not watch CNN it doesn't watch any of the lam stream media it don't even watch Newsmax the Constitution doesn't watch o the conservative side or the liberal side the Constitution does not sit up at night browsing the channels of the TV to find out the mood of the people the (01:46) Constitution doesn't care about the mood of the people the Constitution doesn't care about the will of the people let me say this to you the con ution is greater than the will of the people the Constitution was written to protect Society from the will of the people when the Constitution was written they knew that societies not only evolved but they also rotted from within so they created the constitution in case this thing rots and falls apart and that's what it's doing in our day it's rotting and it's falling (02:33) apart but thanks be to God as Society is falling apart that Bedrock when the waves get through crashing against it it's still back there now what is it doing it's preparing for a showdown in about 28 days I believe a showdown between the left and the right both sides is coming to to the to the great battle of the Constitution they're going to meet in the battlefield of the word of the original words of the Constitution now I want to explain the difference to you an originalism and original intent in the Constitution many people say that we (03:23) need to try to understand what the founders intended when they wrote the Constitution no ladies and gentlemen the reason we don't have to figure out what they intended is because they used something called words those words were spoken and those words were written down just like God spoke the word and Men wrote it down the law of the land is the words that was written down we don't have to figure out what they meant because we know what they said the only thing we have to figure out 200 300 years later is what (04:14) the words meant when they were spoken now stay with me I'm giving you an education that will help you calm down the words that were spoken they change their meaning with time let me give you an example I want you to imagine 20 years ago you were sitting there with a television in a big box in your living room you didn't have a remote control back then at least I don't think we did and I want you to imagine me coming into your living room and you asking me a question and I say to you 20 years ago well just Google (04:57) it well you would have looked at me like i' lost my mind why because that word did not have a meaning in that day the meaning of words change with time so our job as textualist not original intent get that out of your mind we're not trying to figure out what the founders were thinking they told us what they were thinking what we have to find out is what the word meant at the moment it was spoken when you figure out once you figure out the intent of the word not the mind because then we would all be changing the law 24 hours a day no no no (05:50) once we go back in time and we find out what that word meant now we have the meaning of the Constitution just like the Bible there was some things that were said culturally that we cannot identify with today because the meaning of the word has changed I'll give you a perfect example and I'm going to be real careful here because I don't say slang words curse words but when I was a young boy my grandfather was an old Mississippi preacher but he had a language that was from the Hills when he would refer to a female (06:33) dog he didn't say look at that female dog he said look at that you you probably know what he said now that word was common usage back then the first time I heard my grandfather say and he was a preacher and he said get that biit TCH out of my yard I was blown away because that word was not in my generation's vernacular except for something horrible but in that generation that word had a different meaning I'm getting somewhere y'all better stay with me okay so the intent of the Constitution was given to us in the words those words is what's (07:23) going to judge this election not long from now and I'll tell you why that has to be because all of these states are in court battles and those Court battles are being rejected they're working their way up to the Supreme Court the Supreme Court nine times out of 10 will be the deciding voice in this election unless we get lucky and the legislators of the state do the right thing but if they don't the Supreme Court will so when it gets up to that Supreme Court you've got nine people and they have got to look at the (08:05) Bedrock of this nation they've got to read the words for what they meant let me give you an example do you know that the entire woman suffrage movement back in the 1920s whenever it was when all these women were out carrying signs that women's right to vote do you know they didn't have to do all of that because they already had the right to vote it was in the founding document that all men are created now the word men is a euphemism for mankind all men were created equal before God so in that one line Justice Scalia I love what he said (08:48) here Justice Scalia said they always had the right to vote they didn't have to do anything but go to court and prove that that was the original meaning of the word man when it was spoken by the founders so ladies and gentlemen we're going to court when we get to court you and I those of us on the right and those on the left we are going to face that old document and it's got a plan laid out to what to do in case we cannot get all of 270 certified electoral votes or in case there's such a a a a a flagrant display of fraud then (09:34) that Vates everything the whole election folks trust the process there's a there's some people about to be so surprised I'll never forget when judge Kavanaugh was standing before the Senate I will never forget so many instances the impeachment that fell to the ground do you know why it fell to the ground not because of a lack of emotions there was emotions everywhere but because it had to face that document that has stood the test of time ladies and gentlemen mark my words the courts are bound by the words written not their intent that (10:19) is why God's word is the same way the words will never change once we figure out the meaning of the word then we understand our constitution so listen I need you to do me a favor if you're not my friend on parlor get over there I'm brother V spelled out completely miwe Shane Von one YouTube first Harvest Ministries we have millions of new followers that are following us because they love truth in this ministry first Harvest Ministries we pull back the curtain on religious lies and itical lies and here's the biggest lie of them (11:03) all that there's a war between the right and the left no there's not the right and the left are going to fall down and surrender to the words of that old document just like the waves of the crashing sea when they hit that Bedrock it surrenders and falls apart this whole thing will fall apart with the law that's the beauty of this nation we are a nation of law not of men we're not a nation of the right or the left We're a nation of the law and both the right and the left surrenders the moment it hits the law so hang tight trust the (11:43) Constitution okay God bless you everybody I know you're going to help me out and share this because I do a lot of work for you let's get it out there so all of these Freedom loving Patriots can sleep a little better tonight God bless you trust the constit stion

Summary

In this constitutional lesson, Shane Vaughn explains the difference between original intent and originalism, arguing that legal interpretation should focus on the historical meaning of the words actually written rather than speculation about the founders' personal thoughts. Using examples from language change, constitutional law, and election disputes, he contends that courts are obligated to follow the text of the Constitution as originally understood. Biblical references are employed only as analogies for textual interpretation. The overall message encourages confidence in constitutional processes and the rule of law rather than in political passions or public opinion.
