F I R S T H A R V E S T MI N I S T R I E S I N T E R N A T I O N A L THE SABBATH IS NOT THE SHADOW OF A MAN IT IS THE SHADOW OF AN AGE Christianity says YAHSHUA fulfilled the Sabbath, so the day is finished. Paul says the exact opposite. He calls the Sabbath “a shadow of THINGS TO COME” (Colossians 2:17). TO COME. Not things that came. Not things already spent at a cross. THINGS TO COME. A shadow falls backward from a body that has not yet arrived — and Paul wrote that decades AFTER Calvary. SIX DAYS OF LABOR. ONE DAY OF REST. Six days you labor. The seventh you rest. Six thousand years man labors under his own government — “one day is with YAHWEH as a thousand years” — and then comes THE SEVENTH DAY. THE MILLENNIAL REIGN. THE 1,000-YEAR DAY OF REST FOR THE WHOLE EARTH. Every Sabbath you keep is a weekly REHEARSAL of a coming age. That is why Hebrews will not turn it loose: “There REMAINETH therefore a rest to the people of YAHWEH.” — Hebrews 4:9 REMAINETH. Still outstanding. Still unclaimed. Still ahead. If the Sabbath had been swallowed up at the cross, the writer of Hebrews never got the memo. “I WILL GIVE” IS A FUTURE PROMISE “Come unto me ... and I WILL GIVE YOU REST.” I WILL GIVE. Future tense. A promise — not a receipt. Just as “I WILL GIVE unto them ETERNAL LIFE” — and yet every saint who ever believed that promise is lying in a grave this very hour, waiting on a resurrection. We hold the PROMISE. We do not yet hold the POSSESSION. We were handed the earnest — not the inheritance. The same is true of REST. Much to the chagrin of Christianity, it remains my duty to sound forth the truth as a witness: THE SABBATH WAS NOT FULFILLED. IT WAS FORESHADOWED. He has not yet given us rest — HE IS COMING to give us rest. And here is the tragedy: WHAT WE REFUSE TO HONOR TODAY, WE FORGET TO ANTICIPATE TOMORROW. The world lost sight of the GLORIOUS COMING DAY because it first threw away the PRESENT DAY. Kill the shadow, and men go blind to the body. So I still keep the seventh day. Not as a burden.
