Does the Bible Really Say That - Zechariah 12:10 and the One They Pierced Speaker: Shane Vaughn Date Delivered: 2017-05-03 Source video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvCRaE2ZVy0 YouTube title: Dr. Shane Vaughn; First Harvest Ministries Teaches; Examining Zech 10:12 Transcript made from the video's YouTube captions. 1 hello hello hello everybody it's Shane Von with first Harvest Ministries and I want to deal with a question tonight that uh that I think we need to talk about I started a new series for our YouTube our YouTube subscribers we're up to about 2,000 subscribers now and so I wanted to start a new series that um that you could benefit from and we're going to title the series does the bible really say that and this is basically to answer some Bible questions um that I think that uh need to be answered and so that's why we've started this little series of um videos so tonight one of 2 the questions that we want to answer is does the bible really say that uh concerning Yahweh in Zechariah Chapter 12 and verse 10 we're going to go there real quick get your Bibles and go there to Zechariah 12 and10 there seems to be a discrepancy about what this verse is saying what it's really saying most people and myself included uh we always read this a certain way and I'm going to go over to that verse and let's read it together we're going to go to Zechariah 12 and verse1 I'm going to read it from the King James version only because that's what most people are familiar with and I will pour 3 out upon the House of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of Grace and supplication and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced and they shall mourn for him as one mourneth for his only son and shall be in B for him as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn now this scripture needs it needs it needs some serious study because one doesn't even have to be a theologian to read the scripture and see a complete dichotomy in the uh prepositions and in the numbering of the persons in this verse so before I give any deeper ask yourself does this make any 4 logical sense to your mind and they shall look up on me whom they have pierced and they shall mourn for him that's crazy that that that something is messed up about this verse and it's the lying pen of the scribes that is messed up cuz you can't have God saying they're going to look upon me and mourn for him it's either me or him it cannot be two now this verse is used to try to prove that it was literally Yahweh God Elohim that was on the cross and that they pierced in the side and if you just read this verse at face value without 5 serious theological discourse course that is exactly what it looks like it says but that's not what it says at all it actually says quite the opposite and we're going to show you that let's go over first of all we've established that you've got two uh different objects here in this verse me and him you cannot use the pronoun him for me you would have to use the pronoun he or myself but you cannot use him and me that just don't work that's messed up that's jacked up so let's see exactly where the problem is and what the Bible is really saying I'm going to bring you onto my screen 6 here and we're going to go over to Zechariah 12 and10 now this is the biblehub.com you can go there for yourself and then pull up Zechariah 12:10 I want you to look at the second line when we get to the part that says and they shall look upon me on me and they shall look on me right here I want you to notice something very interesting this word is LA and it is a preposition look right there it's a preposition a preposition is not a noun a preposition simply uh addresses the noun or addresses the noun or supports the noun but interestingly enough there is no 7 noun at all in the word elay as a matter of fact if you click on elay uh which is 413 and the Strong's Concordance it's going to bring you uh to a much better understanding of of what this is this is definitely not a noun so the word me should not be here it is added um by the translators so look carefully you'll see the original word right here and you'll see that it is a preposition it's translated uh as as L and its phonetic spelling is Al and it simply means against which is a short definition or unto or towards but there is no no noun here this is a 8 preposition now go with me over here uh to what I I like to go here because it's for dummies and it uh helps us to understand the English language and let's just study on what a preposition is uh the preposition is the words that uh let me scroll up in English you use prepositions to connect nouns or between nouns and pronouns and so basically the preposition is not even addressing the noun it is basically connecting the nouns and the italicized words relate two nouns to each other so here you've got to go back and understand and the word me me is not in the original Hebrew text at 9 all all you have there is the word Alay and simply meaning uh unto or towards but it's not a noun that word me should not be there but they had to put something there the translators did to make sense or the verse really wouldn't make any sense so they put in the best word word that seemed to fit with their Theology of the day now let's go over one other place and will be done uh Zechariah 12:10 let's go back there now there are several Bibles that has gotten this translation right one of them is the revised Standard Version another is the book of Yahweh 10 there are several Bibles that have realized the error they've realized that this is an error and they fixed it and you need to realize it and fix it and quit trying to make it say what it is not saying the revised Standard Version reads like this and I will pour out on the House of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of compassion and supplication so that when they look on him whom they have pierced they shall mourn for him as One Mourns for an only child doesn't that make more sense isn't that more in agreement with the original language why did they put there they 11 shall look up on me it was a choice the translators had to make and of course those translators or trinitarian translators these uh there there's an agenda here folks there's an agenda here and we're going to let me prove it to you let's go over to John 19 and verse 37 let's go to John 1937 now this is interesting it seems like the Apostle John knew exactly what the original scripture said in Zechariah and John 19:37 and again another scripture said he's speaking of Zachariah 12 and 10 they shall look on him whom they pierced no mention of me or Yahweh but they will look upon Him whom they have 12 pierced and that is what Zechariah 12:10 should read and thankfully some Bibles have corrected it it should not say me it should say him and um we'll prove it even a further let's go over to the Book of Revelation chapter 1 verse 7 Revelation 1 and 7 and let's see if yet again we can get a Trilogy of scriptures behold he cometh with clouds now I don't have to go back and show you um who the he is this is yua the king King of Kings behold he cometh with clouds and every eye shall see him and they also which pierced him and all kindreds of now this entire 13 subject is about yua it is about the Son of God the son of man and um it's just plain as the nose on your face so we need to be very careful very very careful when we study the scripture because you can take Zechariah 12:10 and make it support your Doctrine you can make it support your understanding that that was Yahweh that died on that cross there's a problem Yahweh can't die Yahweh is not a man and so therefore if you pierce Yahweh and kill Yahweh perhaps you've committed a greater sin than you intended to commit to begin with you you have fashioned him into a man 14 and so anyway I hope that that uh gives you a few things to study and to decide for yourself does the bible really say that God bless you go to our website first harvest church.org subscribe to our YouTube channel youtube.com SLC the letter c forward slir Harvest subscribe there and you'll be notified of all of our new studies we're right at 2,000 subscribers we're trying to get it up to at least 10,000 that's our goal for this year so help us do that God bless you have a good evening

Summary

The speaker opens a new YouTube series called Does the Bible Really Say That and examines Zechariah 12:10, which in the King James Version reads that they shall look upon me whom they pierced and mourn for him. Using biblehub.com and Strong's Concordance, he argues that the Hebrew word rendered me is a preposition with no noun, and that the translators supplied the word. He compares the Revised Standard Version, John 19:37 and Revelation 1:7, which speak of him whom they pierced, and closes by inviting viewers to the ministry website and YouTube channel.
