the word curios is a curious word indeed and we're going to discuss it in these next few minutes because it has led to a lot of confusion about the person of Yahweh and the person of yua now if you're watching this video and you have no idea who Yahweh or yua is I will break it down for you Yahweh is the father yua is the son normally called God or Jesus all right so listen if you're watching do me a quick quick favor before we go any further support our ministry by doing two things if you're watching us on YouTube look down there and click on the Subscribe button and then click on the little bell that way you can be notified every time we put up wonderful teachings here at first Harvest Ministries if you're watching me on Facebook I need you to comment your location tell me where you're watching from and then hit the like button and please share this video the whole world needs to hear these wonderful truths amen all right so this is going to be our lesson this evening and I do greet every one of you in the beautiful name above every other name and I pray that you're all doing well and I pray that by the time you get through with this video that you're going to have a much clearer understanding uh and you're going to know how to interpret this word curious what is the word curios it's a Greek word that's been translated into English as Lord L O R D now the interesting thing is that both yua Jesus and Yahweh God or the father in the word of God both are called the word Lord so that leads someone to believe that since they're both called lord then they most they must both be the same person or the same entity or the same whatever the word Lord has caused many of us to mistakenly believe that both yua and Yahweh since they are both called lord then they must both be the same so the question is does the word Lord make yua and Yahweh the same person the answer is no it does not and this lesson don't hang up yet don't take your preconceived ideas and ignore truth just because you cannot handle the stretching of your minds so with that said allow me to prove the point would you do that much amen all right so every time that the word Lord is used in the New Testament it comes from a Greek word curios the word curios is a masculine title and I want to show you I'm going to go to the screen now and we are going to show you uh this word on your screen now the word on your screen this is a verse I just picked out of thin air of Philippians 4:23 and the verse says the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all so we're going to open up the transliteration and we're going to find the word Lord look at your screen and you'll see my cursor there clicking on the word Lord if you'll come right here you find it's Greek 2962 and it is the Greek word curios so we're going to click on this word curios and see the Greek meaning of this word and if you'll look to your part of speech follow my mouse there the part of speech is a masculine noun so it comes from the root word always when you're studying words follow what we call the chain of emology which is the the building of the word and here you see it comes from the root word kuros which simply means supreme or Supremacy so we're going to scroll down and find the meaning of the word curios now interestingly enough in the word of God curios is translated follow my mouse right there 667 times as Lord with a capital l then it's translated 54 times as Lord with a lowercase L but interestingly enough it's not always translated as Lord and that's going to lead to some big questions in this video that we've got to answer interestingly enough 11 times it's translated as the word master and six times it's translated as the word sir and six more times it's translated as the word Sir with a capital S now here is the definition of curios if you're curious about curios number one he to whom a person or a thing belongs about which he has power of deciding a master or a lord virtually if someone is making decisions over your life your boss your captain your wife no I'm playing but anyone that is in a decisionmaking role over your life that is the meaning of the word Lord let's go to the next meaning the possessor of a thing so if you own land you are Lord over that land you are the owner so another definition of the word curios is owner or one who has control of another person their master in the state often The Sovereign the Queen the king the prince the chief the Roman Emperor let's look at another possible meaning it is a title of honor and I want you to notice that definition it is a title of Honor expressive of respect and reverence with which servants greet their masters I'm so glad tonight that I'm a slave to the master Allelujah now also look at number or letter C it's it's a title that's given to Yahweh and the Messiah now it is important that you keep these meanings in your mind as we go forward in this study now the respect and the position of being above render someone the title of Lord now we live in a society where we we are Americanized we're Western minded we have a real hard time with the concept of someone being over us we're taught that we're all equal all men are equal and of course there is truth to that but remember the Bible was not written in an American time nor with a western mindset your Bible was written in the first century so to understand your Bible you've got to re re wind your mind to the first century you've got to place yourself there you've got to understand the verbage the vernacular the Customs the traditions of the writers of the word of God especially the New Testament so since you don't live in that time it can be very confusing to you my American or my Western friend to hear the word Lord in your mind it only applies to God and rightfully so we were not raised in a country of Lordships so we have a hard time so therefore if we we we know that that title in our mind is reserved for Yahweh God but if we see that yua is being greeted with that same title we attribute that to God so therefore they must be the same but you see there should be no need for confusion whatsoever because if you lived in the first century your boss you wouldn't call him boss you would call him my lord your um Captain on the police force or your captain on the boat we call him Captain it's the same thing as Lord it is a common word for respect there is no more need for you to be confused as to why yua and Yahweh are called Lord and Master because no one in the first century would have been confused no one and you won't be if you go back to the way of first century thinking so let's just break this down the word Lord in those days was a common term for someone above you yes there are people above you in this life your pastor your spiritual leader your boss uh the the governmental authorities they are all of over you they're above you Mr President well in days gone by we would have called him my Lord and we would have bowed our head to someone that is above us it was a title of common respect I'll give you a modernday equivalent when you meet someone a stranger and you say Excuse me sir well that's interesting because in Great Britain sir is a title of nobility so let me ask you when you say yes sir are you speaking to a knight of nobility no in our day the word sir is attributed as a common courtesy and that is the modern equivalent of the word Lord you know we were brought up in my home to say yes sir no sir to those that were above us our elders people that were older than us and the home I grew up in you did not call adults by their first name or at least not with a title brother or sir and you never answered your father with a yes or a no it was a yes sir or a no sir well that word sir is equivalent to Lord had you been living in the days of the Bible you would have called your father Lord yes Lord all right so why didn't we see this or why don't we see this in the Bible why is it not more plain why is it that the only place we see Lord is in reference to Yahweh or yua you're not going to like the answer but I'm going to give it to you anyway once again the lying pin of the scribes Jeremiah 88 tells us that there's such a thing as the lying pin of the scribes the ones that have translated the word of God from the Greek now these translators I'll tell everybody I don't believe that they intentionally set out to harm the word of God but indeed they did harm it in many areas and this is one of those areas because these translators believed that the only appropriate use of the word Lord was when it referred to yua or Yahweh and so in your English Bibles the the word curios which means Lord was translated as Lord only when it referred to the godhead if you will but my question to you today is why and I'm fixing to show you on your screen the evidence of what we're talking about so let's read before we read why why why if the word curios in Greek is translated Lord in one place then why is it not translated Lord in every place because someone had to decide that we're going to translate curios as Lord only when we feel like it should be applied that way I want to show you number one let's go let's take our Bibles and let's go study this to be a fact amen we're going to go to our Bible study program and let's type in the verse or if you've got your Bible with you let's go to Matthew 1 and 20 and let's read that Matthew 1 and 20 but while he thought on these things behold the angel of Yahweh appeared unto him in a dream now notice on the screen it says Lord now I'm going to do something real quick I'm going to click here so that you can see the word that is translated as Lord look on your screen the angel of the Lord you see that now what word is translated as Lord there curios all right so we know that the word is used for Yahweh now let's go see it used for yua in the same way now follow me carefully because your eyes are going to open up in a moment and you're going to thank yah for this truth amen if you're watching would you please share our teachings come on help us get this message out we have 10,000 subscribers on YouTube we're trying to get to 20,000 you can help make it happen all right Matthew 7:21 not everyone that saith unto me Lord Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven now this is y Yeshua speaking or Jesus as many of you know him but let's look and see the word you used for Lord here there it is look at your screen it's curios so there we have Yahweh and yua both being referred to as Lord but ah wait a minute now that's to be expected no problem he is Lord oh yes but what if I could show you in the scriptures that many other people in the Greek if you were reading this Bible right now in in Greek and not in English I'm fixing to show you so many other people that was called lord in the New Testament but the translators didn't like that they were not comfortable with that evidently and they did not translate the same Greek word curios they did not translate it they refused to translate it as Lord and that's why so many of us have been confused all of these years so let's go to Matthew 20 and verse 8 so that I can prove these points to you amen I hope you're enjoying this lesson tonight go to our website first harvest church.org and uh claim your free book we're giving away free books there for everyone that Claims One you you'll see when you log in It'll ask you for your email to get your free booklet all right Matthew 20 and8 are you ready so when evening was come the Lord of The Vineyard Seth unto his stewards call the laborers now what's funny here is in that most of your translations it does not say Lord it says the foreman or the owner or the master but let's look here at this word the lord of the vineyard and what is the there it is follow my mouth what is the exact word that's used here for the Lord of The Vineyard curious but yet in many of your Bibles it's not translated as Lord It's translated as Foreman or owner but indeed it is the word curios now let's keep going let's go to Matthew 21 and 40 I've always been curious about this word curios all right Matthew 21-40 when the Lord therefore of the vineyard cometh what will he do unto the husbandman once again here is the Lord of The Vineyard referred to as curios right there now in the word of God I'm fixing to show you that property owners and I'm going to go through a list of all the people that are called lord property owners are called lord as we just showed you in Matthew 208 and then in Matthew 21-40 also in Mark 12:9 you will find it matter of fact let's just go there real quick we have nothing better to do do we Mark 12 and9 and there is nothing better than studying truth Mark 12:9 what shall therefore the Lord of The Vineyard do so this man owns property he owns a Vineyard and he gets the same type title that Yahweh gets and that yua gets the Lord of The Vineyard all right now let's go to Luke 20 and 13 Luke 20 and 13 then said the Lord of The Vineyard once again curios all of these men that's Property Owners is called lord and indeed if you go to England today the queen has the Chamber of her Lords those are property owners in her realm in her Dominion they are the highest on the chain of nobility my lords and they are referred to that way today with the same title that Yahweh and yua receives now I want to show you someone else that gets the title of curios in the word of God unfortunately it's not translated that way but it should be let's go to Mark 13:35 and this would be the head of the household Mark 13:35 watch ye therefore for you know not when the Master of the House cometh now that's interesting because they translate it here as Master but indeed let's look it is the word curios why did they not transl at that one as Lord because there is an affinity in these translators to only bestow lordship on Yeshua and Yahweh now let's go and read Galatians 4 and verse one and you're going to find the same thing beloved now I say that the heir as long as he is a child differeth nothing from a servant though he be Lord word of all that Greek word is curios this is Lord what who someone that becomes head of a household they are called my Lord my curios the same title that yua has the point I'm trying to make here is just because Yeshua is called curios just like Yahweh is cannot be anything to you to try to draw your doctrinal conclusion that they are one and the same if that's the case then so are all these Property Owners because they have the title curios let's go and see that slave owners were called lord in the original Greek go to Matthew 10 verse 24 the disciple is not above his master nor the servant above his Lord you own slaves you were a lord Lord you are curios does that make you Yahweh does that make you God because you carry the title curios absolutely not it's a title of respect for a sovereign for a property owner for someone that is above you someone that is over you and that's why I call yua Lord and Yahweh Lord I have no problem with that because I'm a slave to the master we used to sing an old song said I'm a slave to the master and I am a slave he has control over my life and Yahweh is the head of him the Bible says that the head of the wife is the husband the head of the husband is Yeshua and the head of Yeshua is Yahweh now let's see who else is called lord in the Bible husbands are called lord let's go read first Peter and we'll prove this to you 3 and six why because the husband is over over the wife therefore he's her Lord even as Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him curios or Lord a wife calling her husband curios does not make her husband Yahweh it makes him above her it really is so simple there's no need to be confused yet people are making videos on YouTube trying to say that because he's got the the title curios the same that Yahweh has that that's one and the same now let me show you who else is called lord let's go to Matthew 21 and3 truth is so plain Matthew 21-30 this is a father talking to his son and he came to the second and said likewise and the son answered and said I go sir but went not now notice Matthew 21-30 watch this he says I go sir why use the word sir here because there's an attempt to give lordship only to yua and Yahweh but let's see what the actual word sir is look right there guys it's the word curios do you see it that's the same title given to Yahweh the same title given to Yeshua given to a father because a father is a above a son and this is why yua in the word of God calls Yahweh his God his Lord because Yahweh is the head of yua now let's go back to the scriptures for just a moment I've only got five minutes left and we'll be done but I want to look at John 12 and verse 21 the same came therefore to Phillip which was of bethsadia of Galilee and desired of him saying sir we would see Jesus well wow again the translators pick and choose when to translate curios as Lord but in fact these people called Phillip Lord but the translators translated it sir why because of their predisposition the word sir is curios and basically here's what they said to him they said to philli Lord show us your Lord amen let's go quickly to John 205 John 205 yua said unto her woman why weepest thou who do you seek she thought he was a gardener and said unto him sir if you have and that word sir there is curious there's so many let's go to acts 10 and 4 I'm trying to rush through these for you let's go to acts 10 and verse 4 and let's look at it and when he looked on him he was afraid and said what is it Lord this was an angel this is an angel that comes to Peter and Peter calls the angel Angel curios Lord and the angel said unto him your prayers and your arms are come up for a memorial before Yahweh what is Peter doing calling an angel Lord he's doing what everyone in his day did showed reverence and worshipful respect to those that were above him I could go on and on and on but I just don't have time cuz this is supposed to be a 30 minute lesson but in closing I just want to say this you've got to learn to quit taking bits and pieces of the word of God and trying to form your Doctrine follow the flow go from the beginning to the end when you're reading a verse make a decision to read the whole chapter so that you can see what's being talked about what's being spoken about now with that said yua said before he was resurrected he said I'm going away to my God and your God to my father and your father I call yua Lord because he is my master he is above me I call his father Yahweh Lord because he is above yua yua said my father is greater than I am I'm Shane vaugh founder of first Harvest Ministries Summary

This teaching examines the Greek word Kyrios and its use throughout the New Testament. Using Philippians 4:23 and a series of examples from Matthew, Mark, Luke, Galatians, Peter, and Paul, Vaughn argues that Kyrios is a common title of authority and respect rather than proof of identity between Yahweh and Yeshua. The sermon emphasizes that many individuals besides Yahweh and Yeshua are called Kyrios in the Greek text and contends that inconsistent English translation practices have contributed to theological confusion. The message supports a Biblical Unitarian distinction between the Father and the Son while affirming the lordship and authority of Messiah.

Core doctrine

Biblical Unitarianism / Kyrios / Lordship / Father and Son / Godhead
