called Mardi Gras and lent is happening as we speak I'd like to talk to you about this season I want you to understand the truth because the truth really does matter long before there was Christianity there was religion there's always been religion from the earliest days of humanity they've always known that there was a higher reality that was in charge and rightly so because only a fool in his heart doesn't believe that there is a God of some type of some sort now these people worshiped anything they could find the Sun the 2 moon the stars the zodiac uh the seasons whatever they could worship they worshiped good intentions they meant to appease the Gods but during that time there was a man named Abraham and he also practiced the religion called the old religion collectively we call this paganism old ideology and yeah built on the premise that there are Gods aplenty Not Just One but many Ben Abraham believed that he was a pagan he practiced the Pagan religion one day there was a Clarion call made to Abraham to come out from those Pagan religions and this voice was the voice of the almighty Yahweh the one true 3 creator God [Music] they in those days did not know this God Abraham would come to know him one-on-one from that encounter Abraham produced a great nation that still exists today it's called the nation of Israel and no I'm not speaking of that plot of land in Palestine I'm speaking of a people that have spread out all over the Known World all right what does that have to do with lent and Mardi Gras everything when Yahweh called Abraham out of those religions he said I don't want you to ever go back to participating in the old religions I want you to follow the one true way of the one true God 4 I'm going to teach you a narrow path that I want you to walk down it's going to separate you from everyone else all right let's fast forward thousands of years basically four thousand years when the early Christian Church was being formulated in its early stages about 200 years after Yeshua Jesus went to his father in Heaven the church began to grow exponentially all over the globe the church was growing perhaps too quickly because there was a man by the name of Constantine you can do this research yourself I don't need to teach all of that you can do that they meant to catch Christianity and 5 make it the cool religion of the world everyone had to come in to alignment with the Catholic Church it was very dangerous in those days not to be a Catholic if you don't believe me ask King James of England and asked Queen Elizabeth because our very own sister Queen Mary had to have her killed for not a good Catholic as the Catholic faith began to spread they met great resistance from the old religion colloquially known as paganism which is pagans Druids Celtics okay so the Catholic church was at a point dealing with these people that for them to come into the Catholic church and they wanted 6 to it was safe to be Catholic and yet the Catholic Church demanded they convert a compromise was made between their love for their old ways talking about the pagans they are their love for their old celebrations their old holidays how do we incorporate that into the Christian Church well we can't it's impossible the Bible says what Fellowship hath the works of darkness with the works of light you cannot do it not in the True Church of God you can't however if you're building another church that is not rooted in Apostolic Faith then what do you do you tell everybody in the Pagan World come on 7 in where there's safety and what we'll do is we will incorporate your lifestyle into the church now before you think that that is strange we do the same thing today when we invite Sinners into the church to bring their lifestyle and sit right among us and we find a way to vacillate we find a way to tolerate their lifestyle and incorporate it into our worship experiences so as this was happening there was an old old practice that I want to teach you about today that found its way into the church you guessed it Lent now to help you understand this before I talk about lent I need to talk to you 8 about what happens right before lent and I've actually a great person to hear this from because I am from Louisiana born and raised just outside of New Orleans the capital the world capital of Mardi Gras innocent looking fine it was probably my favorite holiday I loved Mardi Gras well I had no idea what I was loving I want to explain it to you Mardi Gras because you can't understand lent without understanding Mardi Gras Mardi Gras comes from the word Carnival Khan eval if you break that word down and you get Carney it means flesh Baal means farewell so Carnival are Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday as 9 it's known was all indicative of a period of time that was allowed into the church because it's practiced heavily in the Catholic Europe European nations of the world this period of the celebration of everything that Yahweh hates the flesh your entire Bible speaks to you of what killing the flesh May the flesh Don't Walk In the Flesh but walk after the spirit the word Mardi Gras is a celebration of fleshly indulgences but why did they have Mardi Gras because they knew lent was coming Ash Wednesday was coming and they knew that they would enter a 40-day period of fasting we're going to talk 10 about that today so before that 40 days begin let's have a Fat Tuesday where we can celebrate the flesh before we crucify the flesh we're going to elevate everything derogatory everything Bodacious everything that's carnal Carnival we're going to celebrate sin before we fast to try to get rid of sin we're going to celebrate sin I hope you begin to see the idiocy of the entire setup lit according to the Catholic church and I'll read you their statement in a moment has one purpose and yet Mardi Gras sanctioned by the Catholic church is the total dichotomy the oxymoron the paradox of what lent is 11 supposed to be about so before you believe the lie of Lent you have to understand the truth of Mardi Gras Mardi Gras has always been a celebration of pagan gods think about it just stay with me please don't go anywhere just because you don't agree with me listen and study it for yourself so one of the Gods of Mardi Gras that you need to know about if you've ever been to a Mardi Gras parade then you know about this God um the first one I want to talk about is Bacchus Bacchus is the god of wine a pagan God remember I told you in the beginning before Christianity existed religion existed the 12 worship of false gods existed that's why the first commandment has shall have no other gods before me or love the Lord your God with all your heart and then no other gods before me Yahweh hates this worship or this celebration of false gods Bacchus is a false god Venus the goddess of love a false god Endymion Orpheus Rex ing I could continue on and on and on all of these floats are made after these false gods then you go out there and bring your children to celebrate here in New Orleans murdered they just murdered so many people this week at Mardi Gras you bring them out to celebrate the 13 flashing of women's uh privacy the exposure of degradation you bring them to celebrate and then you teach them to raise their hands to these false gods that's floating by and saying bless me with something sir or throw me something give me something receiving from them what you should be receiving from God Yahweh Mal I'm not going to spend more time on Mardi Gras all of your research because even most of Christianity agrees with what I'm saying about Mardi Gras they know it's a righteous party of the flesh all right but what about lit now Pastor Von we can understand you being against Mardi 14 Gras we could almost meet you there but lit is the purest of intentions as a matter of fact let me read for you now you know Ash Wednesday right after Fat Tuesday after that great month-long celebration of we go down to the church we get an ash cross put on our forehead and now we're going to dedicate ourselves for 40 days to prepare for Good Friday and Easter Sunday well first type in the word 15 Easter you'll find out that none of those are what you thought they were but I digress and get back to lent so according to the Catholic church this is the purpose of Lent let me read it to you the real aim of Lent is above all else to prepare men for the celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ pause now we're going to prepare men for the celebration of the death of Christ right after we had a celebration of the antithesis of the death of Christ sin blatant sin supported by the Catholic Church promoted Mardi Gras is a Catholic celebration it's the dichotomous celebration of what 16 lent is and it's sponsored by the same church if you will I continue better the preparation the more effective the celebration of Easter will be one can effectively relive the mystery only with purified mind and purified heart I do agree with that by the way the purpose of Lent is to provide that purification by weaning men from sin and selfishness through self-denial and prayer and by creating in them the desire to do God's will and to make his kingdom come by making it come first in all of their hearts man that sounds amazing I'm in full agreement actually with the aim of Lent the problem is 17 it's not true I'll explain why it sounds good but according to the word of God 40 days of fasting does not purify us but rather the shed blood of yahshua the Messiah is our purification so in fact lit is teaching you a lifestyle in these two celebrations that is redundant throughout the whole of Christendom here it is live like you want to during the week as long as you come to church on Sunday and celebrate the Eucharist go back out and have a Mardi Gras celebrate sin take part of it as long as you come to the church as long as you come and take the Eucharist you can go back out and have your 18 Mardi Gras whereas the word of Yahweh teaches the total opposite of that so the celebration of Lent is the celebration of a lie because in fact they are teaching you to dedicate this 40 days a year whereas the word of God teaches you to celebrate every single day of your life to Consecration and living a life free from the degradation of sin now I want to go back if I can and explain to you that number one the reason we don't celebrate lent here at first Harvest Ministries is very simple not because we're anti-catholic not because we're anti-lint but we are anti-antic thing that opposes 19 yahweh's word no matter what church teaches it we stand against it for example lent was never observed ever by the head of our church who is that yahshua not one time do we see him celebrating lent and we choose to walk in the steps that he walked in now he never observed Easter never observed lit however he did command Us in John 13 1-17 to keep the Passover and the days of unleavened bread now we have simply chosen to obey what he said to do none of these other things are in his Commandments to us I want to go back and talk now and there's so many other scriptures that I could show you but I 20 would rather go back to lit's ancient Roots now fruits have meaning you know it's funny to me and all of the talk about the Confederate flag I live in the Deep South and the flag of the Confederacy uh doesn't mean to a lot of Southerners what it means to Northerners and other people it has a different meaning however the roots of that flag are intermingled with a very ugly practice slavery but what's funny to me is when you try to tell someone well that's not what the Confederate flag means to me they immediately respond and say these words yes but the roots of that flag are filthy oh really 21 are you ready to go there then let's go there Roots matter now do you see Roots do matter and they give meaning to symbols and celebrations so days now this comes from the worship of a goddess a false god 22 among the pagans and it was a time an annual Festival every year that happened in the old religion known as weeping for tammuz t-a-m-m-u-z you can look that up on your own who was tamus he was the false Messiah of the Babylonian people he was a satanic counterfeit of Yeshua the Messiah the Feast of tammuz was always celebrated in the month of June that's where your maypole and all of these things come from now lent was held 40 days before uh tammuz is celebration and it was known as weeping and rejoicing it was a mixture of the two for tammuz this is why lent means spring it took place in the 23 early spring now we can find this celebration in your Bible you can turn right now and read about this Lent celebration it's in Ezekiel chapter 8 verses 14 through verse 15. 24 I'll just read one little line then he brought me to the door of the Gate of yahweh's house or yahweh's own church which was toward the North and behold they're set women weeping for tamus now this was a weeping period of 40 days now known as lent why because when these pagans came into the church they brought these 40 days of weeping for tamus with them and the church sanctioned it renamed it lent for this great spring pagan celebration now why did the church Institute this pagan holiday because they had to please this group of people to get them to join the church then they christianized it 25 and then put a mask on it confusion calling it Lent Yahweh commanded his people to follow him not the traditions of men yahweh's ways are holy they separate us from this world they are what we are to follow and I want to ask you today before I leave can you show me Lent in your Bible can you show me Ash Wednesday in your Bible can you if you cannot then you are not following a Biblical practice in fact you're following a practice who's are ancient dark and deep it's a tree of death sometimes mistaken as a tree of life there is good and evil on this tree do you know how because when evil is 26 wrapped in good intentions it becomes the tree of death remember the tree of death has good and evil meaning the good shrouds the evil to where only those who have ears to hear and eyes to see can discern the evil hiding behind the good do you have those eyes today do you have those ears if you do you would never
