THE DEBATE BEGINS...
Is Israel a thief of land it never owned?
Is the Jewish State today an arrogant colonizer bullying an indigenous people?
These are the lies shouted from the podiums of the United Nations, regurgitated by activists with keffiyehs and signs, and even whispered in churches too afraid to speak the truth.
But this article isn't based on emotions, media bias, or political correctness. This is a covenantal courtroom, and we are calling history to the witness stand.
Let us begin where the rightful claim begins — with the Covenant of the Land.
THE ABRAHAMIC TITLE DEED (circa 2000 BC)
The claim of the Jewish people to the land of Canaan is not grounded in modern warfare or international diplomacy — it is grounded in covenantal authority.
In Genesis 15:18, Yahweh (God) cuts a blood covenant with Abraham:
“Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates.”
This was no symbolic poetry — it was a divine transfer of title. Abraham did not ask for land. Yahweh gave it. A promise that would be reaffirmed to Isaac (Genesis 26:3), to Jacob (Genesis 28:13), and enshrined into the very soul of Israel’s identity.
️ FROM JOSHUA TO THE TEMPLE (1400– 586 BC)
Under Joshua, the Israelites entered Canaan, and by divine command, displaced the tribes who had filled the land with idolatry, child sacrifice, and wickedness. Yahweh, the true landowner, was cleaning His property — and giving it to the covenant heir.
From the conquest to the building of Solomon’s Temple, Israel ruled the land for centuries. Despite disobedience and division, the claim to the land was never forfeited — only interrupted.
⚔️ THE BABYLONIAN & PERSIAN OCCUPATIONS (586–332 BC)
In 586 BC, Jerusalem was sacked, the Temple destroyed, and the Jews exiled to Babylon. But even in exile, Yahweh never annulled the covenant. Instead, He promised a return — and under Persian rule, they did return (Ezra, Nehemiah).
This was not a new nation formed — this was an ancient people returning to their land, rebuilding the Temple, and replanting covenant roots.
️ THE GREEK & HASMONEAN PERIOD (332–63 BC)
Alexander the Great conquered the region in 332 BC, bringing Greek influence. After his empire fractured, the Seleucids ruled — until the Jewish Maccabees revolted and reclaimed Jewish sovereignty once again in 140 BC.
Yes — Jews ruled again in Jerusalem for a century before the Romans. This is not myth. This is documented Hasmonean rule — real Jewish kings over a real Jewish land.
️ THE ROMAN OCCUPATION & THE DESTRUCTION (63 BC–70 AD)
In 63 BC, Pompey entered Jerusalem and Roman domination began. During this period:
Herod the Great, a Roman puppet, ruled as “King of the Jews” The Second Temple still stood
Jews made pilgrimages from around the world
Hebrew faith, law, and culture still governed Jewish life
But everything changed in 70 AD. The Roman General Titus crushed the Great Jewish Revolt, destroyed the Temple, and expelled or enslaved much of the Jewish population.
Jerusalem was renamed Aelia Capitolina by Emperor Hadrian. Judea was renamed “Palestina” to mock the Jews by referencing their ancient enemies, the Philistines. This was the first time the name "Palestine" was applied to the region.
⚖️ BUT LISTEN CAREFULLY...
Even after destruction and dispersion, Jews never gave up ownership. There is no deed of surrender. No covenant revocation. No sale. No forfeiture.
What happened in 70 AD was not a legal transfer of land ownership — it was an illegal occupation by pagan Rome. And yet, the Jewish people — exiled, persecuted, scattered — never relinquished their claim. Every Jewish prayer ended with “Next year in Jerusalem.” That is not metaphor. That is covenant memory.
️ THE LAND WAS NEVER ABANDONED
Let it be known: Jews remained in the land continuously. Yes, even under Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic rule, there were Jewish
communities in Tiberias, Safed, Hebron, and Jerusalem. They were oppressed, taxed, and ghettoized — but they never left completely.
The land lay mostly barren — disease-ridden, underdeveloped, and neglected. Mark Twain in 1867 wrote:
“A desolate country... a silent mournful expanse... We never saw a human being on the whole route.”
(Innocents Abroad, 1869)
The land mourned her true children. She blossomed only when the sons of the covenant returned.
“Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” — Luke 21:24
 A LAND TRODDEN BY EMPIRES…
The Jews were expelled from their capital in 70 AD, but the land was never handed off in covenant to another people. Instead, for the next 1,900 years, the Land of Israel became a political football, kicked and claimed by foreign powers — from Roman caesars to Islamic sultans, from crusading knights to colonial generals.
Let us now follow the timeline of these occupiers — and watch as not a single one creates a true national identity rooted in the land.
️1. ROMAN EMPIRE (63 BC – 324 AD)Ruler: Pagan Rome
Key Events:
70 AD: Temple destroyed, Jews expelled or enslaved 132–135 AD: Bar Kokhba Revolt crushed
Jerusalem renamed Aelia Capitolina
Judea renamed Palestina to erase Jewish identity
Note: The term "Palestine" was imposed by Rome — a spiteful propaganda tool, not the name of an indigenous Arab state.
✝️2. BYZANTINE (EASTERN ROMAN) EMPIRE (324–638 AD)
Ruler: Christian Rome (Constantinople)
Key Events:
Christianity becomes the state religion
Pagan temples replaced with churches
Jews banned from Jerusalem
Jewish communities survive in Galilee, Tiberias, Safed
Note: The Byzantines never created a sovereign “Palestine.” They governed as an imperial province.
3. ARAB ISLAMIC CALIPHATES (638–1099 AD)Ruler: Rashidun → Umayyad → Abbasid Caliphates
Key Events:
638: Muslim armies conquer Jerusalem
Dome of the Rock built in 691 AD on the Temple Mount Arabic gradually replaces Greek and Aramaic
Jews and Christians become dhimmi (second-class citizens)
Note: Arabs ruled, but the concept of a nation called “Palestine” still didn’t exist. No capital. No currency. No flag. No borders.
✝️4. CRUSADER KINGDOM OF JERUSALEM (1099– 1291 AD)
Ruler: Roman Catholic Crusaders
Key Events:
Massacres of Muslims and Jews in Jerusalem
Feudal Latin kingdom imposed
1187: Saladin retakes Jerusalem for Islam
Crusaders cling to Acre until final expulsion in 1291
Note: A foreign European occupation. Not Arab. Not Jewish. Certainly not “Palestinian.”
5. MAMLUK SULTANATE (1291–1517 AD)
Ruler: Muslim slave-soldier dynasty from Egypt
Key Events:
Widespread neglect of the land
Bedouin raids, internal instability
Minimal infrastructure or development
Note: The land fell into disrepair. Again — no national claim. No independent state. No “Palestinian” identity emerged.
6. OTTOMAN EMPIRE (1517–1917 AD) Ruler: Turkish Muslim empire
Key Events:
400 years of centralized rule from Istanbul
Land divided into districts — not one called “Palestine” Jews from Europe begin aliyah (return) in late 1800s
Ottoman records confirm: Jews legally bought land
Over 400,000 acres purchased by Jews before 1917
Quote from Ottoman land records:
“These lands were barren, uninhabited, and legally transferred for settlement.”
Note: Many so-called “Palestinian” families migrated into the land after Jewish development began.
️7. BRITISH MANDATE (1917–1948)
Ruler: Great Britain (via League of Nations)
Key Events:
1917: Balfour Declaration affirms a Jewish homeland
Jews continue legal purchases from Arab landlords
Arab riots begin in 1920s and 1930s — fueled by anti-Zionist agitation
Peel Commission proposes partition; Jews accept, Arabs refuse
1947: UN Partition Plan creates Jewish and Arab states Jews accept. Arabs declare war.
REPEAT: NO PALESTINIAN STATE. EVER. Let the record show:
Not one of these empires — from Rome to Britain — created a nation of Palestine.
Not one Arab government ruled an independent Palestinian state from Jerusalem.
No Palestinian kings, no legislature, no army, no borders, no currency.
Even the word “Palestinian” referred mostly to Jews under the British Mandate.
The Palestine Post? A Jewish newspaper.
The Palestine Philharmonic? A Jewish orchestra.
The Palestine Brigade in WW2? A Jewish military unit.
The Arabs of the land were called Arabs — not “Palestinians” — until the 1960s, when Yasser Arafat weaponized the term for propaganda.
️
️ THE LAND WAS WAITING...
Throughout all these centuries, the land of Canaan — once a land flowing with milk and honey — became a dust bowl. The foreign occupiers used her, abused her, and forgot her.
But the land of promise has memory.
She bloomed only when her true sons returned.
“For they have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.” — Psalm 83:4
 WHO ARE THE PALESTINIANS?
Let’s state this plainly: There is no ancient people called the Palestinians.
There was no Palestinian kingdom. No Palestinian flag. No Palestinian capital. No Palestinian coinage. No Palestinian language. There was never in all of recorded history a sovereign nation called Palestine ruled by an Arab people claiming national identity in the land of Canaan.
So where did the term come from?
 THE ORIGIN OF “PALESTINE”
The name Palestine comes from the ancient Philistines, a seafaring people from the Aegean Sea who settled the southern coast (Gaza) around 1200 BC.
They were enemies of Israel — not ancestors of modern Arabs.
In 135 AD, after crushing the Bar Kokhba Revolt, Roman Emperor Hadrian renamed Judea to “Syria Palaestina” to humiliate the Jews and erase their identity from the land.
This name stuck — used by Byzantines, Arabs, Crusaders, Ottomans, and the British — but always as a geographic term, never a national identity.
Let this settle deep: Palestine was a Roman insult. Not an Arab inheritance.
 ARAB MIGRATION TO THE LAND
The so-called “Palestinians” of today are largely descendants of Arab migrants who came into the land in the 19th and early 20th centuries — drawn by the economic opportunities created by Jewish immigration and land development.
Under Ottoman Rule:
The land was sparsely populated — mostly marshes and desert.
Ottoman land laws allowed absentee Arab landlords (often in Syria or Lebanon) to sell land to Jews — and they did.
Jewish pioneers drained swamps, built infrastructure, created jobs. As the Jewish presence grew, Arab immigration surged:
 British Hope-Simpson Report (1930):
“Large numbers of Arabs immigrated illegally from surrounding Arab countries to take advantage of the higher standard of living brought by Jewish development.”
So who stole land from whom?
️ THE INVENTION OF A PEOPLE
Until the mid-1900s, Arab residents of the land never identified as “Palestinians.” They called themselves:
Arabs
Southern Syrians
Muslims or Christians
But not Palestinians.
Even Yasser Arafat, born in Cairo, called Palestine “southern Syria” in early interviews.
In fact, Zahir Muhsein, a PLO leader, said in a 1977 Dutch newspaper:
“The Palestinian people do not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel.”
That’s not from an Israeli. That’s from a Palestinian leader.
ARAFAT, THE ARCHITECT OF A LIE
The modern “Palestinian identity” was manufactured in the 1960s by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), created with the help of the Arab League. The goal?
Not to build a Palestinian state.
But to destroy the Jewish one.
That’s why there was no cry for a Palestinian state between 1948 and 1967 when Egypt controlled Gaza and Jordan controlled the West Bank.
No protests. No flag. No demand.
Why? Because the land wasn’t the issue — the existence of Israel was.
WHAT ABOUT PALESTINIAN REFUGEES? We’ll deal more with this in Part Four, but here’s a fact:
In 1948, when Israel declared statehood and accepted the UN Partition Plan, Arab leaders told the local Arab population to flee temporarily so that the five invading Arab armies could destroy Israel.
“We will return when the Jews are driven into the sea.” — Arab radio, 1948
But Israel won.
And those who fled became refugees — not because of Israeli expulsion, but because of Arab aggression and false promises.
 LAND PURCHASES: THE INCONVENIENT TRUTH
Let’s repeat what is constantly suppressed:
Jews bought the land — legally, openly, and often at inflated prices.
Ottoman, British, and League of Nations records prove it.
By 1948, Jews owned only 7% of the land, yet built thriving cities and farms.
Arab absentee landlords sold the land. Local Arab tenants often stayed and worked for Jewish owners.
No land was “stolen.”
What was stolen was the narrative.
 THE POINT:
The “Palestinian” people did not exist as a distinct, national people group before the rebirth of Israel.
Their identity is a political construct — invented to counter Jewish indigeneity and weaponize victimhood.
Pastor Vaughn’s Verdict:
“The lie of Palestine is not a forgotten chapter of history — it is a forged chapter added to rewrite history.”
️ WHAT IS ZIONISM?
Zionism is not racism.
Zionism is not colonialism.
Zionism is the Jewish people returning to the land Yahweh gave them, after centuries of exile, persecution, and patience.
Zionism is biblical prophecy in motion and international law fulfilled. It is a homecoming — not a hostile takeover.
 THE ROOTS OF RETURN
From the Babylonian exile onward, the Jewish people have lived with a compass in their soul — always pointing back to Zion.
But the modern Zionist movement began to rise in the late 19th century, driven by:
Centuries of European antisemitism
Religious faith in biblical promises
Nationalist awakening in Europe
Modern communication and transportation
And a longing that never died.
“Next year in Jerusalem” — the prayer of every Passover seder for 2,000 years — was finally taken literally.
THE ALIYAHS: WAVES OF RETURN (1882–1948)
There were five major waves of Jewish immigration (Aliyah) to the land of Israel between 1882 and 1939. Each wave brought more Jews fleeing Russian pogroms, European antisemitism, and later the Holocaust.
They came not with weapons — but with plows, shovels, and cash in hand.
What did they do?
Bought malaria-ridden swampland from absentee Arab landlords Paid double and triple market rates
Drained swamps, planted trees, built schools, paved roads Turned desert into farmland
Hired Arabs to work alongside them
British historian Walter Clay Lowdermilk wrote (1939):
“Nowhere in history has a people reclaimed a barren land with such devotion and sacrifice.”
 LAND PURCHASES: FACTS, NOT FEELINGS
Here are inconvenient truths the world won’t tell you:
All Jewish land prior to 1948 was legally purchased
Ottoman, British, and Zionist records confirm this
Most land was bought from wealthy Arab landlords in Syria, Lebanon, and absentee Palestinian elites
The Jewish National Fund and organizations like PICA recorded every transaction
“Zionist Jews have not taken land by force. They have purchased it, often at enormous cost.”
— Sir John Hope Simpson, British White Paper report, 1930
️ THE CONDITION OF THE LAND BEFORE ZIONISM
When the Jews began returning in the late 1800s:
The land was underpopulated, underdeveloped, and diseased It was mostly swamps, deserts, and rocky hills
Arab locals — few and poor — lived in scattered villages with no infrastructure
Mark Twain (1867) described it this way:
“A desolate country... a silent mournful expanse... hardly a tree or shrub anywhere.”
The land was not stolen.
The land was revived.
 ARABS BENEFITED FROM JEWISH RETURN
This fact shocks many:
Arab immigration to Palestine increased because of Jewish progress
Arabs moved in for jobs, health care, higher wages
Cities like Haifa, Jaffa, and Tel Aviv flourished
Arab population in Palestine grew faster than Jewish population between 1922–1947 — because of Jewish development
“Palestine, through Jewish immigration, has become the most prosperous land in the Arab world.”
— King Faisal of Iraq, 1930s
️ THE BALFOUR DECLARATION (1917)In 1917, the British government issued the Balfour Declaration, stating:
“His Majesty’s Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people…”
This was later enshrined in international law by the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine (1922) — which recognized Jewish historical rights and instructed Britain to facilitate Jewish immigration and land settlement.
Zionism was not just biblical — it was legalized by the nations.
THE JEWISH DREAM: NOT CONQUEST, BUT COMMUNITY
The Jewish people never returned with an imperial spirit. They didn’t demand empires. They didn’t ask for wealth or vengeance. They came to:
Live in peace
Fulfill prophecy
Rebuild what was lost
Coexist with Arab neighbors
But what they were met with was not welcome — it was riots, terrorism, and jihad.
ARAB REJECTION: ROOTED IN HATE, NOT LAND
Arabs rejected every peaceful compromise:
1922: Jews accept British partition; Arabs riot
1937: Peel Commission offers Arab and Jewish states; Arabs say NO
1947: UN Partition Plan gives Arabs and Jews a state; Arabs say NO
1948: Jews declare independence; Arabs invade with 5 armies
“The Arabs would rather destroy Palestine than share it.” — Golda Meir, 1956
Zionism offered coexistence.
Arabism offered annihilation.
 THE VERDICT:
Zionism is not occupation.
Zionism is not theft.
Zionism is the righteous return of an exiled people to their lawfully purchased, biblically promised, and prophetically prepared homeland.
The only thing “stolen” was the narrative.
Pastor Vaughn’s Declaration:
“Zionism is Yahweh’s real estate deal coming to final closing. No power on earth can evict what Heaven has titled.”
A DAY LIKE NO OTHER — MAY 14, 1948
In a small room in Tel Aviv, surrounded by photos of Herzl and echoes of the prophets, David Ben-Gurion declared the independence of the State of Israel — 2,000 years after Roman
exile, 70 years after modern Zionism began, and just three years after the Holocaust.
The world watched as the dry bones began to rattle.
The Jews didn’t declare war — they declared statehood. They didn’t expel anyone — they welcomed coexistence. They didn’t steal land — they affirmed UN Resolution 181, which partitioned the British Mandate into two states: one Jewish, one Arab.
️ ISRAEL SAID YES — ARABS SAID NO
The Jewish leadership accepted the partition plan — even though it gave them less than half the territory and carved up Jerusalem.
The Arab League rejected it entirely, declaring:
“There is no place in Palestine for two states... Our aim is clear — it is the extermination of the Jews.”
The very next day, five Arab nations invaded:
Egypt
Syria
Iraq
Transjordan
Lebanon
Israel was six hours old — and already at war.
⚔️
⚔️ THE FIRST ARAB-ISRAELI WAR (1948– 49)
Israel had no air force, barely any army, and was vastly outnumbered.
But they had something their enemies didn’t:
A prophetic promise
A national resurrection
A will to survive
Despite overwhelming odds, Israel won.
They didn’t expand by conquest.
They expanded by survival.
If the Arabs had won, there would be no Israel — and no Jews left in the land.
️ THE REFUGEE LIE: WHO FLED AND WHY?
Today we’re told: “The Jews drove out the Palestinians.”
But history and Arab leaders tell another story.
1948 ARAB BROADCASTS:
“Leave your homes temporarily. The Arab armies will drive out the Jews and you can return.”
Over 700,000 Arabs fled, not because of expulsion, but:
Fear of war
Promises of return
Warnings from Arab commanders
Some were even threatened with death if they stayed
Meanwhile, over 160,000 Arabs chose to stay in Israel — and became full citizens.
❗ Fact: Israel today has nearly 2 million Arab citizens, many in parliament, law, and medicine.
No Jewish citizens exist in Gaza, and none in Arab Palestine.
️ WHAT ABOUT THE JEWISH
REFUGEES?
While the world obsesses over Arab refugees, it ignores the 850,000 Jews expelled from Arab lands:
Iraq
Egypt
Syria
Yemen
Libya
Morocco
Iran
These Jews had lived in those lands for centuries. When Israel was born, they were forced out — their lands stolen, synagogues burned, properties confiscated.
Israel absorbed them. No UN agency was created. No worldwide protest. Just faith and survival.

NO PALESTINIAN STATE BEFORE 1948 — OR AFTER
Let’s get brutally honest:
From 1948–1967, Jordan controlled the West Bank
Egypt controlled Gaza
And guess what?
No Palestinian state was declared.
No demand for independence.
No flag.
No movement.
No “Nakba Day” protests.
Why? Because “Palestinian identity” was never about building a nation — it was always about destroying Israel.
 WHAT DID ISRAEL DO?
Israel:
Declared independence peacefully
Accepted UN partition
Absorbed Jewish refugees
Granted citizenship to Arabs who stayed
Offered peace — and was met with war
What did the Arab world do?
Rejected peace
Launched five wars
Refused to absorb Arab refugees they created
Created a weaponized identity to delegitimize Israel
 THE “NAKBA” IS A DISTRACTION
The word Nakba means “catastrophe.” But the real catastrophe was not the creation of Israel. It was the Arab decision to reject peace and launch war.
The Arab world gambled.
They lost.
And now they cry foul — not because they love Palestinians, but because they hate a thriving Jewish state.
“If the Arabs had accepted the partition, there would be two states today.”
— Golda Meir
Pastor Vaughn’s Truth Bomb:
“The Arab world created the refugee crisis. Israel created a home. One built a nation — the other built a narrative.”
“Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street.” — Isaiah 59:14
♂️ TWO REFUGEE STORIES: ONE BUILT A NATION, THE OTHER BUILT A LIE
Story #1: The Jewish Refugee
Driven from Europe by pogroms and ovens
Expelled from Arab nations with only the clothes on their back
Over 850,000 Jews fled from Islamic countries between 1948– 1970
Homes, synagogues, businesses, and property left behind
They were not coddled. They were not funded by a global welfare state.
Israel took them in, absorbed them, and gave them dignity Story #2: The Arab “Palestinian” Refugee
Fled at the urging of Arab armies
Promised a swift return once the Jews were defeated Used as political pawns for 75 years by Arab dictators Denied citizenship in most Arab countries
Kept in camps, taught hatred, and raised on grievance
❗ Fact: There are now five generations of Palestinians still in “refugee” status — not because of Israel, but because of Arab nations refusing to absorb their own brethren.
LAND OWNERSHIP TRUTH: THE RECORDS DON’T LIE
Before 1948, only 7% of the land in Mandatory Palestine was owned by Jews.
That land was legally purchased. The rest was:
Ottoman crown land (transferred to Israel in 1948)
Unregistered public land
Privately owned Arab land — which was often sold to Jews willingly
After the 1948 war:
Much of the Arab land was abandoned, not seized
Israel enacted Absentee Property Laws (as all nations do in war aftermath)
Jewish homes and synagogues in Arab countries? Confiscated without compensation.
Source: Moshe Aumann, “Land Ownership in Palestine, 1880–1948”
ISRAEL GAVE BACK — AGAIN AND AGAIN
If Israel was a thief, she was a terrible one.
Over and over again, Israel gave up land for peace:
Sinai Peninsula – Returned to Egypt in 1979 (after capturing it in a DEFENSIVE war)
Gaza Strip – Unilaterally withdrawn in 2005 — even removed Jews by force
West Bank – Continues to offer autonomy and negotiations
Temple Mount – Left in control of the Jordanian Waqf even after victory in 1967
And what was the response?
Suicide bombings
Intifadas
Rockets from Gaza
UN condemnations for defending her own people
 NARRATIVE VS. REALITY
The Narrative:
Israel is a colonial settler state
Palestinians are indigenous victims
Jews expelled Arabs to build their state
Zionism = apartheid
The Reality:
Jews are the indigenous people of the land
Arabs are descendants of migrant populations
Jews legally purchased land and defended it
Zionism is the national liberation of an exiled people
️ THE MORAL HIGH GROUND ISN’T IN DOUBT
Let’s compare:
MetricIsraelArab StatesTook in Jewish refugees✅ Yes❌ NoGave Arabs citizenship✅ Yes❌ NoBuilt thriving democracy✅ Yes❌ NoTaught peace in schools✅ Yes❌ NoOffered compromise✅ Repeatedly❌ Rejected all

 FINAL VERDICT:
Israel did not steal land
The Jews did not expel a people
The Palestinians are not ancient or indigenous
Zionism is not apartheid
The land of Israel belongs to the seed of Abraham — by covenant, by history, and by Heaven’s decree
Pastor Vaughn’s Final Word:
“The only thing Israel has stolen is the spotlight — by turning ashes into an army, wasteland into vineyards, and prophecy into reality.”
Share
IN CONCLUSION:
The Jewish people returned to their land not by might, but by miracle.
They brought no colonizers, only carpenters.
No imperial flags, only prayer shawls.
No bloodlust, only building blocks.
So when you hear that Israel is the bully, just remember — Truth doesn’t need to scream. It only needs to be spoken.

Summary
The article presents a historical and covenantal defense of Israel's claim to the land, tracing that claim from the Abrahamic covenant through biblical history, exile, modern Zionism, and the establishment of the State of Israel. It argues that the Jewish people's connection to the land has remained continuous and that modern Israel represents the restoration of an ancient covenant rather than the creation of a colonial state.
