Pastoral Moment with Pastor Vaughn - Daily 10 minute Devotional 7/27/21 - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXEwVI88ENw Transcript: (00:01) [Music] it wouldn't take you very long to count to 75 if I did one two skip a few 7475 you could probably count that in just a matter of moments 75 is a very important number in your life because that is the amount of winters and Summers and springs and Falls that your creator the one that created you has promised you to enjoy 75 seasons of bundling by the fireplace 75 seasons of summer fun with the family 75 seasons of spring flowers in the garden that is God's promise to you (01:07) unless some unforeseen circumstance what's to happen some unforeseen sickness or death you will get to enjoy those 75 seasons of your life what are you going to do with that short amount of time you you can enjoy the power and the beauty of your youth we all have enjoyed that or maybe you're in your old age now you're hitting that 75 number maybe you're past it if you are you're on borrow time take advantage of every moment of it maybe you're like me and you're you're halfway there you're middle AG you're at that point in your (02:00) life where you look back and you just wonder so many Wasted Years but luckily for me I've still got about half of those years left to do something with those years you need to learn to use these 75 years to fulfill your potential which is to be changed into the image of the son of God enjoy your body use your body this is the only body you're ever going to have enjoy life's small Pleasures maybe a pat on a back or one of those howdy hugs that we love to give one another a full moon enjoy every full moon look at the Moon every night enjoy (02:58) that beauty a good book in front of a crackling fireplace maybe enjoy it those are moments that are slowly slipping the way enjoy a great meal enjoy laughing with your family around the table why you're running out of those days the Bible says that Earth that life is a few days and it's full of trouble but it also says that if you know the Lord that the Lord will deliver you out of all of those troubles enjoy a glorious Sunset when I was young I didn't notice sunsets but now I cherish everyone that I look at because I know that each one (03:49) is leading me closer and closer to that great day when I will see my Lord and Savior enjoy lightning when it pierces through the night night enjoyy the moments of your life don't be Reckless with these days you only have 75 sets of these cycles of days don't be Reckless with other people's hearts and don't put up with people that are Reckless with your heart don't hang around people who love this world more than they do God I'll read for you psalm 101 and verse 4 it says men of a perverse heart shall be far from me I will have (04:41) nothing to do with evil that's Psalms 101 and verse four see David learned that if you want to enjoy these short 75 seasons of Life put away people that have a perverse heart meaning they care for no one but themselves I'll say this plainly to you if someone doesn't love God it is 1,000% impossible for them to love you I don't care if that's someone you're dating someone you're contemplating marrying are just acquaintances that you choose to hang out with as you get older you start making that Circle smaller and (05:26) smaller because you've had your heart walked on before step away from selfish people step away from those that are only there for what they can get from you and learn to be around those that truly love God for if they love God they know how to love their fellow man remember ladies and gentlemen before I go today that this race that we're running is not very long remember the things things in life that matter receive a compliment with joy and then learn also how to forget an insult with the same amount of Joy because in this life you're going to get (06:17) compliments you're going to get insults you're going to meet people that think you are the greatest thing since sliced bread and then you're going to meet people that wish that they could butter and toast your bread and destroy that same bread they come they go so you've got to learn in these 75 years how to receive the compliments not allow those compliments to become your identity but receive them with Thanksgiving and how to reject the insults unless those insults are coming from a pure heart if it's well if it's from a pure heart it's (06:53) not an insult it's constructive criticism let's read Proverbs 21 and verse 21 he who pursues righteousness and love finds life prosperity and honor did you hear that he that pursues after the right things of God the right way to live these 75 cycles of Life 75 short years if you spend those 75 years pursuing doing the right way the ways of God the ways of the Bible which I hold in my hand the word of God when you seek after the right way to live your life which is patterned after God's word you're going to find the meaning of (07:52) life you're going to find Prosperity true prosperity and you're going to find H I'd like to read acts 17: 28 for in him we live and move and have our being as some of your own poets have said we are his offspring when you learn to live in him you will learn how to move in him you will learn how to find yourself because in fact yourself Was Made In His Image if you never find him in whose image you were created you never find yourself I find it funny when people tell me I'm trying to find myself all you have to do is find him you and I are (08:54) living in a strange time we're living in an era and a culture where our leaders cannot or they will not offer life great meaning great convictions or great moral values then people learn to settle for shallow and trivial substitutes you and I must learn to seek after more than the cheap substitutes of life we must learn to see after life itself and remember the verse we just read that means seeking after righteousness the right way to live our lives before I go if we're lucky we get 75 years more or less to live how are we (09:52) going to use this limited time Benjamin Franklin said something and I quote the problem with doing nothing is you never know when you're finished is your life doing something is it seeking after righteousness if not you're living a wasted life that is one of the greatest travesties of all time is a wasted life will you accept the challenge of our time we have two choices we can do nothing or we can live our life for yua the Messiah that would be Jesus in the English tongue I'll quote to you my final verse today (10:42) Ecclesiastes 9 and 10 whatever your hand finds to do do it with all your might for in the grave where you are going there is neither working nor plan nor knowledge nor wisdom life is a blessing and the truth is only the true Christian can ever enjoy life some people may enjoy things they may enjoy the trappings of life but they do not enjoy life because life does not begin until you meet your cre reor I invite you today if you don't know him if you don't know him it's as simple as opening your heart to the fact (11:43) that he exists opening your understanding to the fact that he wants a relationship with you opening your spirit to the idea that you are his creation and he has a right to teach you how to live your life you can know him today God bless you
