Summary
In Part Three of The British Throne, Professor Toto examines the blessings given to Ephraim and Manasseh. The principal passage is Genesis 48:1–20, where the dying Jacob blesses Joseph’s sons. Although Manasseh is the firstborn, Jacob deliberately places his right hand upon Ephraim and declares that Ephraim will become greater and develop into a multitude of nations. The speaker interprets these brothers as prophetic ancestors of two related modern powers: Ephraim as Great Britain and the Commonwealth, and Manasseh as the United States. He then applies Daniel 7:2–4 to their relationship, identifying the lion as Britain and its eagle’s wings as America, which later separates and stands independently. The teaching also follows the covenant promises through Rebekah, Jacob, and Esau. Genesis 24:60 is used to emphasize innumerable descendants and possession of enemy gateways. Genesis 27:28–29 records Isaac’s national blessing upon Jacob, while Genesis 35:10–12 promises that a nation, a company of nations, and kings will descend from Israel. The sermon concludes by connecting Jacob’s anointed pillar at Bethel with the Stone of Destiny, which will be developed further in the next installment.
