Here’s how it works: When a president nominates someone for a federal judgeship or U.S. Attorney position, the Senate Judiciary Committee sends a blue-colored form to the home-state senators for approval. If either senator withholds the slip — or refuses to return it — the nomination traditionally dies in committee. Let me say that again: One Democrat senator can block a highly qualified, duly nominated federal officer simply by not returning a piece of paper. Instead of honoring the constitutional authority of the President to appoint judges, we now bow to a non-binding, man-made tradition — a piece of paper called the Blue Slip. It has no legal standing. It was never ratified by the People. Yet it now rules the judiciary like a modern-day Sanhedrin. �� A Custom That Has Become a CrisisPresident Trump said it best: “The President of the United States will never be permitted to appoint the person of his choice because of an ancient, and probably Unconstitutional, ‘CUSTOM’...” He’s right. You don’t need a law degree to understand Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution: “[The President] shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Judges of the Supreme Court...” There’s no mention of blue slips. No “Senator from California must approve.” No “Democrat from New York gets veto power.” Just nominate and consent. But under the current Blue Slip scam? Consent isn’t coming from the Senate — it’s coming from Chuck Schumer, Cory Booker, or Tim Kaine. �� Gridlock in the Places That Need Justice Most Because of this procedural tyranny: U.S. Attorneys cannot be appointed in crime-ridden cities like Chicago, L.A., or New York. Courts in blue states go unfilled — or worse, stacked with activist judges who hate your values. The President’s power to deliver law and order is hijacked by the very party that wants to abolish police and protect criminals. It's not just bad policy. It’s not just unfair.
