(171) Shane Vaughn Teaches "Divorce & Remarriage" - ( A MUCH BETTER RECORDING OF THIS IS IN THE COMMENTS) - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiQtLa834ho Transcript: (00:00) for everyone watching by video I want to greet you tonight um many people have different ideas about divorce and remarriage and I respect all of those ideas and opinions but what I respect more than that is the word of God and tonight we must get an answer about divorce and remarriage to do that we are going to open the word of God tonight and we want everybody here and watching us to feel free and I'm saying this for the general audience on the camera to feel free to listen to the entire there's going to be (00:43) two parts to this lesson tonight and uh but please before you make a decision I ask you to listen closely so everyone watching me you're going to be the jury on this subject and everybody in our congregation you're going to be the jury tonight and uh we're going to see what the word says all right so from the beginning it was not so that's the title of this lesson from the beginning it was not so a fresh look at marriage divorce and remarriage now God created a perfect world in the beginning there was no murder (01:32) there was no theft there was no rebellion and there was no divorce yua alluded to this for those watching by camera yua is Jesus so there was no divorce now this is what Jesus yua said in the beginning when he was talking in the New Testament he said in the beginning it was not so now many people will read that verse and say see brother V God does not approve of divorce because Jesus said it was not so from the beginning I agree but God also does not prove of murder he doesn't prove of theft he doesn't prove of rebellion in an Ideal World there would (02:28) be none of those things none there would never be a divorce but you see we don't live in an ideal world we live in the real world all right now man's heart is always inclined towards Rebellion so because of man's Rebellion yua told them in the beginning it was not so but because of the hardness of your hearts punishments had to be enacted so even though there was no murder in the beginning brother Butch once murder happens Yahweh has to now Implement a punishment for that and what is the punishment of murder yeah the (03:18) death penalty theft what was the penalty if you stole you had to pay it back twofold if you stole one horse you had to bring two horses back if they did that today and quit putting people in jail come steal from me all you want to I'm GNA get double back okay God's law is a perfect law now Rebellion if a child was rebellious what did they do to the child stoned him okay now a perfect marriage we're to talk about a perfect marriage tonight in the beginning Adam and Eve had a perfect marriage marriage was perfect marriage (04:11) is yahweh's creation it is perfect but what was the [Music] punishment if that marriage was no longer what Yahweh calls perfect the punishment of it I want somebody to say these words tonight divorce divorce is a punishment I don't believe it and I don't don't I don't either God hates it I hate it and I believe anybody that's ever been through it hates it but we got to deal with the issues tonight because the word of God has to be our bottom line somebody say God hates divorce divorce there it is right there read (04:57) sister Von Malachi chapter 2 and verse 16 it's in the Old Testament right before Matthew and mark the very end of the Old Testament Maliah chapter I mean sorry chapter 2 and verse 16 now remember when we get to the New Testament remember in the beginning it was not so applies to a whole bunch of things not just divorce Malachi 2 and verse 16 I need you to read it on the microphone yes ma'am for I hate divorce said Yahweh Elohim of Israel and the one who covers his with said Yahweh of host so you shall guard your spirit and do not act (05:48) treacherously amen God hates divorce do you hear that hates it now why does Yahweh hate divorce here's your answer because marriage is a what it's a covenant and God is a god of Covenant it is the creation of Yahweh it was created when the Sabbath was created marriage and the Sabbath are sisters they go together matter of fact the Sabbath is a representation of the wedding okay now its original design is the only Godly design of marriage between a man and a woman for life for life that is the original design of marriage that's why (06:46) two men cannot marry it's absolutely impossible for two men to marry now you can go down to the courthouse and get you a piece of paper but you're not married because marriage was created not by the courthouse marriage was created by Yahweh and he alone sets the parameters for marriage he said it's forever God hates divorce no one can change its design and still call it marriage however the creator of marriage can provide for the dissolution of marriage marriage is the foundation of society its destruction is the (07:40) destruction of society now you have to be very careful when you're teaching this kind of a lesson because you have two groups of people they will always take it to the extreme you'll have another group that will take my message tonight and turn it all the way around as a reason to go get a divorce then you got another group that will hear this message and they will hear that you can't ever get a divorce so everybody watching me don't I mean guard your heart against the extremes of this message and remember this before this lesson is over remember (08:21) one thing God hates divorce it will destroy everyone that that you love it is a what I told you a while ago it is a punishment for a broken [Music] Covenant divorce is as close to death as you will ever come it is a punishment on the whole family for breaking the Covenant every choice has a what a consequence divorce is the consequence of ungodly choices now this issue tonight has caused Great distress to True Believers around the world what is the balance tonight is divorce a sin that's going to be our first question (09:26) tonight I promise you I can take you to churches that will tell you it's a sin churches I grew up in if you divorce do you have to remain single for the rest of your life I can take you to churches that can show you scriptures that seems to say that okay do you know I've met and counseled with single women that's divorced that is living in torment that they can never remarry torment in their mind mind because of the scriptures that we're going to deal with tonight that has been so Twisted it's a shame it's heartbreaking to see and the thing is (10:10) before I go any further I have been on the other side of this argument the reason I've not taught on this subject and never is because I was one of those that was adamant against divorced and did not believe that God would ever sanction a divorce so I'm confessing to you tonight I know what I'm talking about I was on that side of the spectrum and I had scriptures that could prove it and I'm going to deal with those scriptures tonight what is the next question if you remarry are you living in continual adultery if you have a living husband or (10:55) a living wife now listen folks maybe this congregation these question questions are not pertinent to you but I know Believers from today I got inboxes from New Zealand China Africa all over the United States women and men that are begging for biblical answers because they want to please God and they are forced to live single their whole lives because they don't want to break the Commandments of God now you've got the other side you see this side is one side of the argument then you got the other side marriage is a try out let's just see if (11:34) it works right divorce is no big deal and if you're not happy get a divorce let me tell you happiness is never a ground for divorce never never so what if you're happy you're in a covenant okay why is this subject so important Church opinion has long favored the teaching that remarriage after divorce is adultery based upon what we believe to be one single mistranslated word in Matthew 5:32 we're going to read Matthew 532 and we're going to try to bring some clarity to this subject Matthew 5 and 32 however I say to you that everyone (12:36) divorcing his wife except an account of fornication makes her a subject for adultery seeing that whoever marries such a divorced woman commits adultery wow wow that's pretty plain Yeshua just said if a man marries a divorced woman he's living in adultery that seems to be what he's saying now you're going to be shocked when I start tearing the scripture apart and show you how one mistranslated word changes the whole word of God and why you have to study to show yourself approved to God so we just read where yua says if a (13:19) woman gets remarried both her and the man that marries her are living in adultery h pretty powerful scripture seems like it's in black and white actually it's red and black but anyway it's the words of Yeshua now what is the result of this one verse right here I'm going to tell you the result of it many people today who are divorced and remarried are expelled from church leadership they're expelled from their Ministries I'm I'm talking to people that are hurting tonight around this world over this subject they're expelled (14:04) from their churches they're shunned because they're divorced and remarried and it all comes from that one verse and granted I can throw that verse in your face and I can pretty much make a case that if you're remarried you're living in adultery all right is there an answer oh yes or I would be teaching the lesson many are being refused to be in leadership some of you watching me right now on this camera uh some of my enemies some of my antagonist have said that I have no business preaching because I am remarried I plan to shred your cabbage (14:52) tonight and show you the truth from God's word and how that many good people give you a quick story my grandmother had 10 children in in New Orleans with my grandfather they were pastoring a church it was booming still going to this day my grandfather broke the Covenant he wanted to have children with other women while he's married to my grandmother while they're pastoring the church so God Rest his soul he left the church and my grandmother with 10 children my grandmother and I'm sorry if I'm boring anybody tonight I really am my (15:41) grandmother lived in mental torment as a minister for 20 years because of that scripture she could not remember she had a living this is why it's important when she finally remarried my grandfather brother Marvin Terrell and they had a successful Ministry preachers would not even come to their church because she had remarried and this is the stuff I'm talking about we need answers to this dilemma tonight you see that picture right there that is God's ideal right there you see the picture see that family that's God's (16:35) ideal this is the goal that you and me and every one of us should believe God for for our families Grandma Grandpa Mama daddy children no divorce one beautiful family that is God's ideal his perfect plan if your marriage choices are made with nothing less than this in mind it can be accomplished if you make up in your mind when you get married divorce is not an option if you make up in your mind when you marry that we're marrying with that idea in mind right our grandchildren our children our family Yahweh is a family he created Family (17:23) Yahweh is all about family divorce is the antithesis of family what does divorce do destroys families this should be what you have in mind this is what the Millennium reign will look like the coming kingdom of God As a matter of fact sister Von if you read Matthew 24 and 38 says there will be no divorce in the coming kingdom of God Matthew 24 and 38 for just as it is in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking marrying while giving in marriage until the day that Noah went into the ark so before the ark they were marrying and (18:13) given in marriage that means divorce and remarriage they were marrying and then giving in other marriages divorce and remarriage we read in the words of yua that in the Millennium Reign there would be no more marrying and giving in marriage meaning no divorcing and remarrying it will be that picture right there all right but you see that word but follow that era that's the [Music] reality that's the ideal in the world we live in that's the reality how does this happen because for the ideal marriage there has to be two parties (19:05) that stick to the terms of the Covenant a marriage cannot survive with only one Covenant keeper there must be two now let me say this to y'all when you got married do you know why there's a set of vows at a wedding those BS are the terms of the contract or the Covenant when you got married you literally why do you think you have to write it on paper you are entering no less than a contract on a job you are an agreeing whenever you get a job you sign the contract they're agreeing to pay you on Friday a certain (19:54) amount of money for a certain amount of work a marriage contract ra is no different it is a covenant between two people now stay with me I beg you to stay with me tonight for a covenant to be valid it's got to be sealed that is what making love is when you make love to your husband or your wife you have sealed the Covenant you just made before for God what is in the Covenant I vow to love honor cherish be faithful in sickness and in health these are my promises to you now you repeat those promises to me we have a marriage covenant now we seal (20:55) it with blood when the virgin's highman is broken the mar marriage is sealed with blood same thing so a covenant of marriage is a two way street and the problem in this day and age is nobody understands the validity of a covenant now this is an ironic thing what I'm fixing to show you what God hates is what God creates now you're not going to understand this you're going to be a little baffled for a moment what God hates is what divorce I'm fixing to show you it was God who created divorce he hates it but he creates (21:48) it oh yeah it's fixing to get good if you lose me now you're going to lose a revelation God hates divorce God hates Satan but he had to create Satan Pur thank you God hates divorce but I want everyone listening to me around the world to know God created divorce I'm going to prove it to you how can this be so because God has two Wills he has a perfect will and a permissive will what's God's perfect will for your marriage brother Ricky um to have each other to go to honor the Covenant but he knows that it takes two and even God cannot control your (22:43) wife's decisions and if she decides to break the [Music] Covenant see now he has a permissive will it's not his design for your life it's not what he would have chosen for your life but you made choices you see when you were young and stupid and tender let me tell you what the church teaches about marriage and divorce goes against the very nature of God's mercy and his Justice yes how many remembers David when he ate the shoe bread what did the law say don't eat the shoe bread it's unlawful but yet David ate the shoe bread didn't (23:35) he did God kill him why is that show Mercy he showed Mercy divorce is God's mercy on your bad situation and I'm going to prove it to you tonight the law says God hates divorce I understand it but we don't live in that perfect world and remember it takes two of you to walk in Covenant and if one chooses not to we've created a God that says too bad you married some great Covenant they desert you your church says so sorry you're stuck the rest of your life you're stuck what kind of God would do that to (24:45) you sorry that you married the wrong person I'm sorry but never again do you have another chance in life now let me tell you what this does this sends people away from the church left and right cuz they cannot stand the idea that they got to be lonely the rest of their life and yet the church tells them that's what God said it's a lie it's not what God Said you think he said that but tonight you'll know better now to find the truth and here's where it's going to get a little bit boring on you I need you to hang tight till we get to the good stuff (25:23) you see these three pictures they're the pictures of the same thing all three pictures now to find the truth tonight we've got to Journey back to a time before Yahweh gave his law to Israel do you know that Yahweh did not give us Torah till about 3,000 years after he created Adam so what law did the world go by during those 3,000 years you're looking looking at it those three stones are called the code of hamurabi now it's important that you get this tonight the code of hamurabi this Stone has been found by archaeologist and it dates back to (26:20) before Abraham's time what is this Stone this is the common law that the whole world went by before Torah we're going to look at this tonight and go from there what is the code of hamurabi the code of hamurabi is a well-preserved Babylonian code of law of ancient Mesopotamia dated about 1754 now what year was Abraham born 1948 so this law was in existence 200 years before Abraham was born 700 years before Torah was ever given it is one of the oldest deciphered writings of significant length in the world it's at the London of Museum the (27:17) Museum of London tonight and it's the oldest law that ever existed in the world it was created by the sixth Babylonian King hamurabi he enacted this code now what is the deal with hamurabi I'm going to show you tonight remember this as long as you live what understood need not be it okay this is key because when we get to Torah there's a lot of things that God does not deal with in his Torah remember what I just said what's already understood need not be explained if your child understands he's got to make his bed up every morning he (28:12) already understands that that don't have to be explained to that child okay it's understood the whole world before Torah lived by that set of laws called the code of hamurabi even Abraham lived by this law here's how I know that because Abraham was in the earth chales which was Babylon well where did this law come from Babylonian when was it created 200 years before Abraham was born so when Abraham is born and he's going to school what law is Abraham learning that law the common law which is the code of hamurabi have't (29:03) ever heard of a common law marriage common law means what's generally accepted throughout Society this law this code dealt with marriage and divorce now you're going to find out in a moment why Yahweh doesn't deal too much with marriage and divorce in the Torah because he only they were they already had laws about marriage and divorce all he does is correct some of these laws now let's continue and I'll try to explain it in more depth now according to the code of hamurabi a marriage was a contract valid only if it was (29:56) written seal sign and Witnesses y'all that was 4,000 years ago aren't our weddings exactly the same today yes sir you ever heard the old saying the more things change the more they stay the same yes sir Abraham's day they did exactly what we do they had contract they wrote it down they signed it and there had to be a witness it's amazing is it that's from paragraph 128 off of that Big Stone right there you can go read it the the 128th paragraph gives you the code of marriage that they went by In This law divorce was allowed but it was treated (30:38) in different ways depending on which party broke the contract if the wife was guilty he could put away the wife by simply say these words I repudiate you and therefore the wife is now put away all right that was the code of hamurabi paragraph 141 and guess what he could do when that code I'm going to show y'all stay with me what he could do with that code of hamurabi the woman would be sent away empty-handed which would probably turn her into a prostitute right now here's why this code is so important Torah is going to come (31:40) along and make sure the woman's taken care of the code of hamurabi the man gets it all he says I put you away the woman goes out empty-handed in the book by Stanley cook who's a master who has a master's degree titled the law of Moses and the code of hamurabi on page 121 he quotes from that paragraph of the hamar Robi code now notice the unfairness to the woman in this ancient code I want to show you tonight how Torah Yahweh uses Torah to correct this code that was already in existence here's what Stone y'all go (32:29) back and read that stone you can go read it today go read it and when you get this paragraph it's going to say if the wife of a man who is living in his house has set her face to go out and has acted extravagantly has wasted her house has neglected her husband one can bring her to court and if her husband formally divorces her with the words I repudiate her she goes her own way and receives no ubu that's Babylonian for no money nothing she sent away like a dog okay our heavenly father is going to take care of that with Torah he's going to (33:21) make sure the woman's taken care of our heavenly father but this code doesn't do that okay now if the husband does not pronounce these words I repudiate you then the husband has not divorced her formally he has simply put her away if he does not do that and he takes another wife that woman is supposed to remain in his house serve him and his wife Hallelujah they had some stuff going on back then hallelujah now the wife had a right in the homar robbi code to divorce her husband brother Von I don't care about hom Robi code I want to know what the (34:13) word says I get it but you're going to want to you can't fill in the blanks without this history okay the wife too had the right to divorce her husband if her husband had violated the marriage contract however this is a risky thing for a woman to do here's why if the court should find that she's guilty they take her down to the river throw her in so how many women was running to the court to get a divorce [Music] right now this is something I want you to really notice if the husband was found to be at fault he had committed adultery if he (35:05) was not given her sexual pleasure because the Bible talks about this that your body don't belong to you you can never deny your spouse sex ever if the court found that he was not providing her needs if the court found that he was guilty and he was not providing her food housing was not taking care of her her then listen to what the husband had to do if he divorced her he has to give her her Dowry back what is a dowy we don't have them anymore if we did there'd be a lot less divorces right so your Dow the money (35:47) that a woman gets from her family her inheritance her wealth when she marries her husband in those days she brought that money into the relationship if she was not properly divorced that money went to the husband if she was properly divorced she got that back to survive on after the divorce so she didn't turn to prostitution why is this important because as we get into the New Testament you're going to see what Jesus was really saying now notice the purpose of of a proper divorce in the code of hamurabi you had to give a proper (36:33) divorce so that the wife could give support y'all ain't nothing changed today same thing going on I'm paying a lot of money every month right these laws have never changed the purpose of the law because if he did not properly divorce her listen you have no idea this is what I'm trying to teach you right now the prop somebody say proper divorce putting away is not the same as proper divorce important she had to be properly divorced to make a claim to get hery back all right so the purpose of a proper divorce was to support the (37:23) woman this is why God hated what he hated oh to make sure that the woman was taken care of our merciful Heavenly Father hates divorce yet he creates this divorce and allows for it now if uh this provision was her child support it was her but she had to have a divorce many women know today if you just separates from your husband you can't go to court and get nothing youve got to have what God loved you enough to create a divorce so that the woman would not be forced to commit adultery my my my God corrects the errors of the (38:18) hamurabi code and where there was listen where there was nothing correct God did not [Music] elaborate since custom already dictated that which was [Music] right there's always a common law that we can go by so what do we have to do we have to take the principles of the Ten Commandments and apply them every day to our life now what God Way's laws on divorce and remarriage here's my problem with other preachers on this subject they serve a God that never changes brother V my God never changes all right I the problem Brethren (39:19) is I really believe that but I dare say many of you don't because if you change the divorce and marriage laws from the Old Testament and when you get in the New Testament you change them you've got a God that changed his mind now Yahweh never changes a marriage is a conditional contract it is not Eternal it is not for ever unless two people make it so it's a conditional [Music] contract it's one that specifies conditions that both of you must fulfill and if one party breaks the contract the wrong party that was wronged can sue at law the other party (40:20) for damages or annulment of the contract by definition marriage contracts are conditional contracts it was always so in ancient times under the law of hamurabi it was so under the Torah and God never changes and in this respect the code of hamurabi is in total agreement with the law of God divorce is a complete break in a marriage contract let me ask every one of you something if you and I shake hands and agree that I'm going to pay you for a job and you do that job and I don't pay you as AG greed we're going to have a (41:10) divorce of that contract why because we no longer have a valid contract I'm trying to teach you something now you violate it no longer [Music] exist you violate Contract Marriage is a conditional contract Yahweh would never place [Music] a that broke to Jud you for another man's sin yes sir if you choose to break it and God tells me I've got to suffer for what that low life did what kind of God do we [Music] serve if divorce is a sin Yahweh is a sinner with you like (42:15) that for you preachers that has judged the people of God to to a life of Torment because of your sanctity because of your sacrilegious attitude because of what you have done to these precious children of God if divorce is a sin your God is a sinner how many of you serve a sinful God your God is [Music] divorced I'd love for somebody to tell me how your God can be divorced but we can't Exodus 19 3-8 sister Von read that and Moses went up to Yahweh and Yahweh called to him from the mountain and said this is what you shall say to the house of Jacob (43:04) and tell the children of Israel you have seen what I have done to Egypt and how I carried you on wings of eagles and brought you to myself now therefore if you will truly obey my voice by keeping my Covenant then you shall be a special treasure to me above all people for all the Earth is mine and Y sh you shall be be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation these are the laws that you shall speak to the children of Israel and Moses came and summoned the Elders of the people and God said Moses go tell Israel I want to marry (43:46) her I'm going to make her a special treasure there's a lot of women in the world but I'm choosing her to be my bride so go tell her I want to marry her so Moses now is coming down the mountain and he's calling Israel together the elders and listen to what he tells them and set before them all the words of the law of Yahweh because every marriage is built on the law of the Covenant read and all the people answered together and said all that Yahweh has spoken we will do hold on did she just say the words we will do (44:24) have you ever heard the words I do at a wedding yes this is a wedding yahweh's just told them what he will do now they responding to his Proposal with I do this is a wedding read so Moses brought their answer back to Yahweh this is a contract Yahweh said you tell them I want them to be my wife if they will keep my laws then I will be a husand to them they will be a special treasure unto me to give them the kingdom he said they would Kingdom of priest he agreed to give them the pressing of the birthright this included honor protection what a husband (45:16) gives a wife honor protection substance he would Supply their need he would give them children read Genesis 12 1 through3 Genesis 12 1-3 and let's continue to read about the God that hates divorce and yet he is divorced now Yahweh had said to Abraham get out of your country from your Kindred and from your father's house to a land that I will show you I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great and you shall be a blessing and I will bless those who bless you and curse him who (46:02) curses you and in you and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed that's God's promise to the children of Israel if they would what just abide by the contract now let's go to Jeremiah 3 and8 now we just read where God married Israel we just read where they signed a contract they sealed it in the blood of lambs Jeremiah 3 [Music] and8 Israel violated the contract because of their Disobedience they refused to repent and return to their husband so let's read in Jeremiah chapter 3 and verse 8 what was the outcome of that amen then I (47:01) saw even though Judah knew that for this very cause of committing adultery the worship of God's Elohim that I Yahweh had put faithless Israel away and given her a bill of divorcement yet her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid so what did God is married her gave her a contract of marriage she who broke the contract Israel what did God have a right to do to her now how can you preach that there's no divorcing when God himself is divorced but I want you to notice in that verse God did two things he did not just divorce her (47:57) first he put her away watch this what I'm fixing to teach you is the secret to this understanding putting away and divorce are not the same he put Israel away for a time to give her time to do what to repent he separated from her moved her out of his house but when she did not come home now it's time to give her a proper bill of divorce so when you get in the new test you start reading about put away I'm talking about divorce you better get this what is the difference in putting away and divorce here's the key to understanding (48:58) this subject putting away is not the same as divor three and8 that she just read there's two separate things that are not the same put away and divorce this understanding will help you clear up the words of Jesus in the New Testament now read uh well we're not going to have time to read it now but in Deuteronomy 24 is all the laws of divorce now if God God had laws of divorce in the Old Testament and he never changes how can you send people to hell for divorce today with a God that never changes Hosea 2 and two it's going to (49:45) prove something to us this is very important how many's heard preachers say what God has put together nobody can ever put it aunder you're married forever we're going to prove that to be a big that lie God can put it together but honey you can tear it apart Hosea 2 and two plead with your mother plead for she is not my wife she's not what not my wife wait wait wait wait wait they were married the church tells me they're always married Yahweh just said because I divorc you you are not my wife now the church tells us the (50:36) opposite that if you marry somebody y'all are married no matter what you always married that's a lie God told Israel I divorce your butt you are not my wife anymore divorce in the eyes of God says that is no H your spouse this is good I'm telling you I'm trying to get oh man we need this [Music] understanding divorce is not a sin but it can be a sin try to figure that one out divorce is not a sin but it can be a sin how can it be a sin if the one demanding the divorce does so with evil motives there has to be a Cause for the (51:28) divorce you can't just wake up one day oh brother V said God said I could get a divorce see you've already you're already wrong you're already messed up see you don't have the Holy Ghost oh brother Von said God said I can divorce you see divorce if you desire it one inkling you don't have the Holy Ghost cuz God hates [Music] it the lawful divorce is the result result of sin or the violation of a contract now let's read Deuteronomy 24 1-4 when a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds some uncleanliness in her and he (52:15) writes her a certificate of divorce gives it to her and sends her from his house and if after she leaves his house she becomes his wife of the wife of another man and then that man also detest her and writes her a certificate of divorce gives it to her and sends her from his house or that man dies leaving her a widow then her first husband who divorced her must not take her back to be his wife after she has been defiled that is an abomination in front of Yahweh and you must not bring sin upon the land which Yahweh your father is (52:48) giving you as an inheritance okay did you not just hear that God identified that wife's second husband as her [Music] husband what did he say if your wife becomes the wife of another man God just told you in his word if a woman remarries after divorce she's the legitimate of another now God just said that he said if you marry a woman and you divorce her she there is another name that is that name I recogniz her as a wife of another man see the god that never changes but you're going to get in the New Testament and tell me God don't recognize second (53:46) marriages he just did that's it in the Torah he just recognized a second marriage and told you you don't go get her back she's not your wife no more I thought she was your wife forever according to the church my God but according to verse one what my wife just read there must be a cause for divorce some interpret that to mean he can only divorce her if she's unclean meaning adultery or fornication before he married her ladies and gentlemen that's not what that verse is talking about adultery or fornication because (54:29) guess what the penalty was for adultery in that day it wasn't divorce it was death this ain't it's talking about well okay if she had an the fair no no no no no no I'm going to show it to you let me tell you something I have Sitting counseling sessions and I've been the minister that's told women that was being beat by men to stay and I Repent every day of my life for telling a woman to stay in a situation where a man has put his hands on you I've been in those meetings woman squalling her eyes out Children scared to go home and some (55:16) uneducated preacher going to tell her you got to stay in that God loves you more than that a that brother V that's talking about adultery no it's not so if it's not talking about adultery the Bible said if he wants to put her away in verse one I wish we had time tonight to really study this he said if he wants to put her away for a cause if that cause was adultery he would have to put her away he'd kill her because that was the statue for adultery so it's got to be something else what is it we don't know God don't (56:07) elaborate on it and I'll tell you why he doesn't because there was a common law where everybody knew the grounds for divorce under the code of hamurabi they all understood it so God don't have to spell it out woo and what were those reasons in the code of hamurabi here they are number one cruelty cruelty a woman being beat every night by a man and a Christian minister going to look at that woman and say you can't get a divorce God forgive us God forgive us every one of us for keeping women in cruel and men in Cruel (57:01) marriages and using the word of God to do it in that day if a woman was being treated like an animal even the common law much less the law of Torah gives her right to a divorce the next one was slander the next one was wasting the family 's money oh brother V I can't see that let me tell you something let me ask all of you a question let's say that you married Laura and she was not honest when you were dating she told you that she had a million dollars in the and she told you that she was debt free and she told you all of this bunch (57:54) of jul all get married you find out she's Broker Than A old man's back you find out she in the country and you find out she lied to you I want to ask every one of you something a covenant built on a false pretense was never a covenant at all [Music] that's not the person you marry how about you marry a man sister test I want to tell you what the church tells you let's say you marry a man and you find out he's been a serial rapist all his life he's raped 30 women you didn't know this when you is that who you married but the god of the Bible says (58:50) sorry you got married really do y'all know we believed all this before there's no Escape for you darling you married no that's not who I married a contract on a false pretense is an invalid contract why do you think the Catholic Church the only thing they do that I agree with has annulments of marriage if you can prove that it was never a marriage hope what if you find out butcher your second cousin when y'all do DNA or your first cousin what if what if y'all brothers y'all may be twins y'all got separated at Birth Yahweh says y'all got to stay (59:44) together no he don't no he don't because his law forbids incest that's and it forbids incestual man marriage so you were never married see I don't care if you got a piece of paper or not we're not going by the code of hamurabi now or the code of America we're yes sir he says not to marry your stepmother so if you marry a woman and found out she would all of a sudden became your stepmom somehow y'all would married so here's the point I'm making I'm trying to be funny about it but I'm trying to make a point today the Reason (1:00:29) God didn't give every reason for divorce it was understood what was worthy of divorce throughout ancient times and even today my wife dated a man one time found out who he was now if she would have married that man and found out after she married I'm going tell you something first day dat we went on honey I told my wife everything everything bad about me everything first date I told her I had a crazy ex-wife I said I got two three children two of them messed up I'm broke busted and disgusted I told her everything we didn't marry with no false (1:01:18) pretenses but you think the god [Music] of in a situation of No Escape because some of misquoted scripture you're wrong but if you desire divorce you're wrong divorce should be the last thing ever desire the woman's more law because I'm running out of time but I'll you the slides tonight if you want to study all this on your own [Music] the you got a so that she has income so that she's taken care of that's our loving father the law of hamurabi didn't provide for that but Yahweh comes in and says we're going to (1:02:22) correct that common law and we're going to make sure that the woman get her Dow back but to do it you got to give her a divorce or you will cause her to go into adultery because if you don't divorce her now you I'm starting to get into the words of Jesus now if you don't divorce her properly you cause her to go commit adultery because she's got to be taken care of she's going to find a man and when she does I'm going to hold you just as responsible as her adultery because you forced her into to it because you (1:02:58) didn't give her a proper divorce so that she could be another man's wife the reason he wanted a bill of divorcement was so that Justice could Safeguard the woman it is her security and guess what a divorce is for a woman or a man it is their license to remarry without a divorce you can never get remarried shacking up is is adultery not remarriage for this reason following verse one it's stating that she must be given divorce papers the Torah said you've got to give her a divorce what would happen if that woman was to remarry without those divorce (1:03:53) papers adultery she will go to hell she will stand before God as living in adultery but whose fault would it be am cuz he put her away but he didn't give her a bill of divorcement he put her out on the streets but he wouldn't divorce her I know a lady y'all know this lady I'm not going to mention her name but to this day her husband will not give her a divorce she lives on the other side of the Gulf Coast her husband will not divorce her he won't live with her but he won't divorce her and that poor lady is stuck now let's say she was to fall into (1:04:36) sin and go sleep with another man it's wrong it's adultery but guess who made her do it that's why he said give her a bill of divorce so she can be another man's wife and be taken care of God wants the woman taken care of Yahweh loves the woman now I'm not going to go through this I'm time take a break but before we going into the New Testament and spend just about 20 minutes in the New Testament and we're going to be done but the difference in putting away and divorcing before we get into the words of Jesus when we come back I'm (1:05:16) going to deal with what Jesus said and what Paul said but I couldn't deal with those two verses until I went through all of this so that you would understand the difference in putting away and divorce now before we break the time put away comes from the Hebrew word shalot which means to send away it also comes from the word garage and I'm not going to go through all of these but anytime you see the word put away it will come from that Hebrew word Shalom here's the Hebrew word for divorce right there kthu and every time you find that word (1:06:02) in the Old Testament it's the book of divorcement so keep in mind when you go to pray before you come back remember shalot and kenth two separate things in the New Testament the Greek word for divorce remember this is app that's the word for divorce means away from stasis means standing so stand away from me when we were married we were one when we're divorced we're two now okay we're no longer one app and stasis referring in this case to the written marriage contract we can see then that the Greek word apostas signifies more than a (1:06:49) separation or a putting away it is the lawful de establishment of the marriage contract accomplished the written bill of divorce now I'm not going to go through all of this but when we come back this is where we're going to pick up the New Testament did yua Outlaw divorce and remarriage let's take a 15 minute break there's coffe and Cake in the back God bless you Matthew 5 verse 31 and verse 32 now we're going to leave the Old Testament and go into the New Testament and see if we can answer these questions about Paul and Jesus we won't (1:07:28) take much longer I promise you we're going to get you out of here for those that are watching by video this is part two of our lesson on marriage divorce and remarriage and uh if you've not heard part one please go back and watch part one you're going to need that Foundation to understand part two all right sister Von let's go Matthew 531 and ver and we're going to start there tonight now we're going into the New Testament we spent about an hour and a half in the Old Testament but we're going to right through the (1:08:07) new we've got to explain what Jesus meant verses um if we don't then they are tormenting verses for anyone that is divorced or remarried Matthew 531 and verse [Music] 32 it has been said whoever divorces his wife let him give her her a certificate of divorce however I say to you that everyone divorcing his wife except on account of fornication makes her a subject for adultery seeing that whoever marries such a divorced woman commits adultery so we have a dichotomy here between the old and the New Testament it's interpreted by the King (1:09:01) James translation and from this translation that sister V just read it would appear that Jesus positively condemns divorce and remarriage now if Jesus is going to condemn divorce he's on Dangerous Grounds because his father implemented divorce okay Heavenly Father Yahweh is divorced right and he made Provisions for divorce so for yua to come in now and condemn divorce he is condemning his own father and he is making this moral code somehow bigger than the Torah and we know that cannot be the case now if divorce is (1:10:02) indeed what causes someone to commit adultery then divorce is a sin and remarriage would therefore constitute adultery but I'm going to teach you tonight that it is not a sin to divorce it is not a sin to remarry and I'm going to use those same verses to prove that to you tonight now before I can do that what do we always have to find when we read a scripture we have to find the what the context the context of these verses makes all the difference in the world yes it does the context is The Sermon on the Mount this (1:10:48) what yua is saying is following his Sermon on the Mount to understand that that you have to understand what was the purpose of The Sermon on the Mount and here's what it was for the most part it is a commentary on biblical law from the mouth of yua so yua is taking the Law the Torah and giving us a commentary on the Old Testament law keep in mind he is not adding anything that was not already there what he is doing is extrapolating what the people never extrapolated the spirit of the law okay they knew the letter but they did not have Holy Spirit (1:11:45) in them so therefore they only saw what the law said not what it intended or what it meant for example if I tell my child don't wipe the refrigerator with a wet cloth because why it leaves streaks on the refrigerator if you use a wet cloth you want to use a dry cloth so you don't have all these streaks that's the letter of my law don't wipe it with a wet rag but if my child does not understand what wiping it with a wet rag does then my l makes no sense to that child well why don't he want me to wipe it with a wet rack I have to explain to (1:12:32) him the why of the how Okay the problem with the law of God and it's this way with the Sabbath day you can't do this you can't go out and eat you can't do this you can't do you can't walk the park can't that's the how that's all hows of the Sabbath and you will kill yourself with the hows of the Sabbath but when you understand the why of the Sabbath that it's a celebration of the coming Millennium Kingdom now all of a sudden the burden the Yoke of the Sabbath is lifted off your shoulder and a joyous understanding has now elevated (1:13:13) you to a different place The Sermon on the Mount is trying to elevate these religious people from the letter of the law to the intent of the law so to prove that we're going to go back she just read verse 31 and 32 we're going to go read verse 17 through verse 19 and we're going to show you context tonight do not even think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophet before we go any further Yeshua just told you don't think for a minute I've come to destroy the law now those of you watching me around the world (1:13:56) what was in the law of God divorce and remarriage God had made a way for that Jesus says I'm not coming to destroy that read I have not come to destroy them but to establish them for truly I say to you unless Heaven and Earth passes away one yo one yeah one yod the small of the letters will in no way pass from the law until all things are perfected whosoever therefore will break one of the least of these laws and will teach men so he will be called the least in the Kingdom of Yahweh but whosoever will not will do (1:14:41) and teach them the same will be called great in the Kingdom of Yahweh see he said I've come to perfect you heard you heard that word perfected I came to show you the the the spirit of the law so now we with that one verse we can never think that yua is trying to correct his father's divorce laws he can't he's not Yahweh Yahweh established in Deuteronomy 24 the reason and the way to get a divorce and to get a law uh and to get a an analment or a remarriage so we've got that settled let's go to the next screen (1:15:23) uh we don't have a screen there it is all right so in verse 20 now let's read verse 20 for I say to you unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees you will certainly not enter into the kingdom of Yahweh okay here's what he said you guys y'all know the law he told these were Pharisees he said y'all know the law you know what the law says but I've come to help you exceed beyond what you know because what you know is Thou shalt not but you don't know why Thou shalt not you don't know the beauty of thou (1:16:05) shall not I'm going to show you the exceeding law not changing it enhancing the meaning of what you missed out on you didn't get the meaning of this law including divorce and remarriage now the they did not keep the spirit of the law and they misinterpreted the law in many ways so now in the next few verses with 21 we're not going to read them but from 21 to verse 48 yua begins going through the Ten Commandments and then he does a strange thing sister Tess he will quote the commandment and he will say they say unto you talking about the (1:16:53) religious leaders Thou shalt not kill but I say unto you now many people think that he is contradicting his father's law he said no they told you the law I'm going to show you now what that law was trying to do in you the whole time he said they tell you don't kill nobody but I say if you open your mouth against your brother you've already killed them see now you wouldn't dare kill nobody but you kill people all day with you tongue see he said I'm going to exceed that law now he said they say you shall not commit (1:17:41) adultery but I say unto you if you look upon a woman to lust after her you've already committed adultery cuz you got all these Pharisees they wouldn't dare penetrate another woman but they've already undressed her and everything else in their mind and he said wait guys y'all are missing the whole Spirit of this thing now notice this somebody now listen many people try to use that verse to convince you that nobody can the law because of what Jesus said about adultery how many's ever heard somebody say well you ever looked at a woman and (1:18:18) lust after well you broke the whole law you can't keep the law that is not what Jesus said notice what he said any man that looks upon a woman to lust after her he didn't say if a woman walks by and catches your eye and you turn your head for a moment he didn't say that he said but if the reason you have looked at her is to commit adultery in your mind with her you've already done it he said if a bird flies over your head you can't help it but if it builds a nest there that's your fault so don't let anybody convince you (1:19:04) if you looked at a woman no he didn't he said if that's your desire and the reason why you're looking at her he didn't say nothing about a momentary thought he said about you dwelling on that thought and now you're staring at her with that intent in your mind will that's right it will so this is the purpose we got to get off this this right divorce remarriage cuz he's talking about you should not bear false witness eye for an eye love your neighbor as yourself all right let's go to the next screen he was destroying a religious (1:19:38) mindset not the law and I've already went over what he said about they say unto you but I say unto you yua came to raise the bar of the original tent of the law of God so in a nutshell the purpose of the sermon of the mount was to improve the Law's interpretation and application the true Spirit of the law had been lost through the traditions of the elders so verse 31 that my wife just read to you about writing a bill of divorcement let me read that I have to keep going back to it because without repetition we don't get (1:20:27) it so in the same chapter of Matthew 5 verse [Music] 31 it has been said here we go again they said unto you it has been said whosoever shall put away his wife underline that word put away it's put away and it is and I'm going to show you the Greek word in just a moment let him give her a writing of divorcement two separate things whosoever shall put away his wife let him give her a writing of divorc here's what that verse says if you separate from your wife if you put her out if you put her away do the right thing now here's what he says in the (1:21:25) next verse but I say unto you he said that's what the law says you can put her away you can divorce her she can get remarried but here's what I say unto you that whosoever puts away his wife saving for the cause of fornication causes her to commit adultery and whoever shall marry her that is divorced adultery here's what yua is saying he's pleading with them don't just put her away and forget about her I'm pleading with you to do the right thing come up higher give her the bill of divorcement so that she does not (1:22:06) commit adultery now I want to show you the mistranslation in this verse are you ready watch closely everybody's eyes on this screen it has been said whosoever shall put away that is the Greek word apoo that Greek word is not the same as the next Greek word aposto now notice you better get this whosoever puts away his wife let him give her a writing of aposta which is a divorce so we have two separate things putting away divorce but I say unto you whosoever shall put away his wife now your Bibles will say divorce but that's (1:22:58) a wrong translation whosoever shall put away his wife saving for the cause of fornication causes her to commit adultery whosoever shall marry her that is divorced you see that word divorced it's a mistranslation I'm going to prove it to you look at your words what's the word for put away right there okay what's the word for divorce in Greek now when we get here look how they translated this word look how they how did they translate that word right there how did they translate that word right there you see the mistranslation this makes all the (1:23:51) difference in the world because this says who whoever shall marry her that is divorced that is not what Yeshua said you don't commit adultery by marrying a divorced woman you commited adultery by marrying a separated woman that is not properly divorced the one that been put away that's right listen folks what I just showed you 99. (1:24:21) 9% of our churches they have said whoever married a woman that is divorced commits adultery honey if that's what it says then we're all in trouble we're living in open adultery every one of us but look at your Greek words why translate it divorced right there and translate it put away up there same word ain't that something I want you to look at it and now let's change this to whosoever shall marry her that is put away commits adultery not her that is divorced amen because if she's divorced according to Torah she can be another man's (1:25:09) wife how can Yeshua come back and turn his father's law around and saying if you Mar Yahweh said if she marries another man that's that man's wife yua is saying that's impossible it won't work children it won't line up now yours is uh that one's even got it wrong and I'm shocked yeah that's right it's I'm shocked yeah the book of Yahweh has that one wrong and I'm very shocked by that what does your Bible say right there brother divorced or put away away I know but the last no go down to the last verse 32 the last line whoever (1:25:57) marries her that is what what does your say Mar her that is divorced okay see there's the problem it's not divorced what does yours say yours is right yeah what does it say it says uh this is um Hebrew anyway 32 says I say to you that whoever puts away his wife except for the matter of pouring makes her commit adultery and whoever marries a woman who has been put away that's the truth right there adulter this is the [Music] okay herment but I say unto you that whosoever shall put away his woman saving for the cause of fornication (1:26:47) causes her to break wedlock and who whosoever shall marry her that is divorced breaks that one's wrong it's wrong whatever Bible you just read out of they got it right because it makes a huge what's wrong baby oh it makes a huge difference it changes everything do you see that I see that smile on your face see when the light of Revelation comes it changes everything Church the your Bible never said if you marry a divorced woman that you're committing adultery it says if you marry a woman that's been put away without a proper bill of (1:27:31) divorcement and like being separated right still married you're still married see it see the good huh scures insti research they got they got it right okay see why you got to study because folks if that's what Jesus said that if you marry a divorced woman you're committing adultery if that's what he said we got to go with that but that is not what he said he said if you marry her that is Apolo which means put away commits adultery now here's let's read it again the way it's supposed to be read Jesus said the law says she commits (1:28:23) adultery if she remarries without a what of divorc then she Comm adul but I say unto you that whosoever puts her away without divorce papers that is unlawfully causes her what do you cause a woman to do if you put her away without giving her a divorce you cause her to do what s see now Jesus is fixing to tell them something he's fixing to tell them something what you say it again go ahead I'm still trying to figure out what is the true okay that's it's real simple let's let's start let's get okay I'm gonna make this simple you see the Greek (1:29:11) word a Appo however you say it see it how's it translated right there okay divorce is translated with a total different word okay how is the same word translated appoo right there appoo right there how's it translated put away now this is the same word as those two up there that says put away so why right there does it say divorced when the word for divorc is apostal okay so the bottom is where coming the bottom line that's it got it got the last line changes everything because if Jesus said he that marries a divorced woman commits (1:30:01) adultery that's what he said and and and I'm going to hell okay but thank God that is not what he said because if he would have said that sister Tess he would have been going against what his father said in the Torah because his father said you can give her a divorce and she can marry and that's that man's wife all right now so here's what he's telling those disciples he's saying listen guys do the right thing give her a divorce because here's what he said now Jesus here you remember a while ago he said he was going to perfect this law (1:30:40) and bring it to the next level here's how he does it now tune in with me please you're I know they've told you her W enforement so that she can get remarried but I'm going to because if you if not it causes her to commit adultery but I say unto you something else now get ready for the next level the spirit of that law I say unto you if you don't give her that divorce and she goes and commits adultery you caused her to do it and my father will hold you accountable just as much as her he brought it to the next level (1:31:20) see see the law of Moses that part that man would be just as guilty of the adultery as the wife would thank you see yesu said now they said unto you and I know you've read give her a divorce and if you don't she commits adultery but buddy I'm going to tell you something it ain't just her committing adultery you made her do it because you didn't give her a divorce you're as guilty as she is you both going to hell back at that time was all based on absolutely but Jesus says you better get you oh I'm going to give you a bill of (1:31:52) divorcement no no you better real if you don't oh was I I ain't going to give her a divorce she going to go out there and commit adultery okay don't do it father says if you don't you're as guilty as what she she's going to commit adultery because he said if you don't give her a divorce man you cause her right right to commit adultery because she's going to go find her a man that's how I created her right he put the woman for the man right she's going to go find her man and it's going to be adultery it ain't going to be (1:32:27) right why did yua tell the woman at the well you've had five husbands right husbands they were not livs they were husbands yua recognized that a woman had now if you can't get REM don't recognize remarriage why would we call them husbands oh yeah it's going to get so simple here in a minute you're going to leave out of here tonight knowing you've heard the truth of the depths of the word of God hallelujah whoever marries her here's what Els he said not only is the husband going to be guilty if that woman goes out there without a divorce (1:33:10) paper but the man that marries her is going to hell bud married to that man you with her see so do the right thing he's saying and this is in all of the sermon M he's telling us to do the higher thing don't just not kill don't kill with your mouth come up higher give that woman her divorce or else don't sit there and hope she commits adultery buddy cuz I'm G to tell you if she does you do too all right I'm praying we've got that now Hallelujah so this verse this verse actually endorses legal divorces people don't he telling you to go get a (1:34:10) divorce I'm telling you that he said it's the only way you can ever get remarried and not be in adultery is to get a divorce don't be shacking up while you're still married to another man don't ever be shacking up you got to to get married now so Jesus is condemning these men who put their wives under the Babylonian Style by just verbally telling them I'm divorcing you that won't work in Torah it's got to be a writing of divorcement because guess what can happen you know what can happen this woman can go under the Babylonian (1:34:45) code of Hanabi whatever it was she can go under that code well he said we were divorced go marry this man this husband says hey I told you you was divorced she's already remarried now they all kill each other Jerry Jerry Jerry Jerry [Music] right Jerry Jerry so God took care of that problem didn't he he said write it give her a writing of divorcement that way you can never come back on her and say I didn't divorce you give her the divorce so this scrip tell me if I'm wrong but this scripture Yesa not plainly say if you put her away (1:35:31) write her a divorce it's that thank you brother it's that simple after you put away give her give her a divorce if not she's going to commit adultery and you're God and you're responsible it ain't now you know we've never read it like that we've never understood it like that we thought Jesus said if you marry woman that's divorced you've committed adultery that's not what he said he said if you don't give her a divorce she's going to commit adultery you're just as guilty as she is now I'm not going to go through uh (1:36:09) the I was going to teach you what fornication is because remember that Clause says except for fornication I'm not going to teach it tonight cuz many of you are about to fall out on me but uh but I'll give you the slideshow and you can study what fornication is it is not just sex before marriage okay so uh I'm not I don't have time tonight to even go through all of this um all right so let's not discuss fornication right now I don't have time all right so now let's go deal with Paul before we get through tonight okay now Paul set (1:36:48) some things that we seems like he's against divorce and remarriage let's go to 1 Corinthians 710 and 11 now strangely when you start to read these verses they're going to really make more sense to you now that you know the difference in putting away and divorce 1 Corinthians 7:10 and 11 now to the married I command not but Yahweh a wife must not separate from her husband but if she does contrary to this Express prohibition she must remain unmarried or or else be reconciled to her husband and a husband must not (1:37:27) divorce his wife except for the cause of adultery wow verse 12 was that verse 12 no okay to the rest I speak not but Yahweh if any brother has a wife who does not believe and she is willing to live with him let him not divorce her wow we got some problems here cuz Paul just seem to go against everything I've taught you tonight no we got more Mist transations folks what did I tell you the Greek word for divorce is aposta okay now right so I want you to notice something in this verse that sister Von just read you may not be able (1:38:17) to see it real well but you will not find the Greek word aposta on anywhere in this verse now I heard the word divorce a couple of times it ain't in there now all right you won't find that word aposta on but I did hear the word divorce but it's not in your Bible so we're going to go over and see if we can't make sense to it now context is King yes what's the context of this chapter we'll find our context in verse one of the self-same chapter let's read it the same chapter verse one now concerning the matters which you (1:39:05) wrote to me it is well for a man not to touch a woman wo a man ain't supposed to touch a woman oh we got problems Houston CU I like touching my woman but we ain't supposed to touch a woman I'm going to tell you I can take this Bible and make it say anything I wanted to say Amen do y'all know I can take that one verse and say a man should be celibate his whole life a't that what it says that it's good not to ever touch a woman right this is what the Catholics use but the problem is the verse that my wife read to you a while (1:39:48) ago is in the same chapter Paul is writing letter to the Corinthian Church that has misunderstood what he wrote to them in an earlier letter when he told him not to touch a woman they've misunderstood his writing and now guess what's happening in the Corinthian Church the women and the men are separating because they thought Paul said they would be closer to God if they didn't touch a woman well the only way I can stop from touching a woman is to move her out of my house CU if if my wife's in my house she gonna (1:40:34) get touched okay so husbands and wi real touch husband and wives were separating if you don't understand the context I'm GNA edit that part out Hallelujah that's why I don't go live right there I don't do live for this very reason so I can control that video okay all right now notice what I've got highlighted here y'all the Corinthian Church had misinterpreted that line to mean that sexual relations prevented Christians from attaining a truly spiritual life thus the young people the preachers were up preaching from (1:41:26) Paul's letters not to get married and uh the married couple said hey separate Paul Paul in corre they he told him it was good not to marry yes Paul did say it's good not marry he did say that but he had a reason for saying that culture context everything matters okay I didn't tell him that go down to uh verse 26 of the selfs saying chapter you're going to see why he told them not to marry read I think then because of the impending distress that it is well for you to remain as you are what does that mean the impending distress what was (1:42:20) happening 60 years after Christ died in Rome what was happening to the Christians say it pers persecution what was happening to the young men they were being killed by the hundreds in the romes the coliseums of Rome so Paul is telling these young men until this distress passes it might be best not to start a family and then they're stuck without a daddy because the church was going through constant amazing persecution they were lining them up and he says due to the present distress it's good not to even touch a (1:43:08) woman right now because we're going through some things right now he said and we don't know what tomorrow holds so hold off on your marriage but you see if you don't understand that context I can take that one scripture and preach against getting married you see you need a teacher in your life somebody that understands the word of God now read verse 32 through 35 and here's another reason Paul was telling a man not to touch a woman but I want you to be free of concern he who is unmarried is concerned about yahweh's (1:43:43) Affairs how he can pleas Yahweh but he who is married is concerned about the Affairs of this world how he can please his wife and his interests are divided and the unmarried woman or girl is concerned about the things of Yahweh that she may be holy both in body and in spirit but she who is married is concerned about the things of the world how she may please her husband now what was happening in the church they were spreading the gospel very quickly Paul was unmarried now imagine if Paul would have been married he would not have been able (1:44:19) to probably do everything that he did because he would had been home providing making a living but at that time they were trying to spread the gospel quickly because what did they truly believe in those days that yua was returning any moment now I don't know about you but the church I grew up in we almost thought we was never going to get married because the Lord was coming well they thought the same thing he was like hold off let's just spread the gospel until this distress passes if you stay single you can focus on the gospel (1:44:58) with me and we can go travel you can't travel if you're married see context is king So he said it's good touch right now until the passes Us by now he said that some men read verse uh five of the same chapter verse five do not deprive do not deprive each other except by Mutual consent and for a time so that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of selfcontrol now what is Paul saying here that it's never good for a husband and a wife not to have sexual (1:45:56) relations because Satan will come into the marriage if you're not having sexual relations and Satan will bring a Temptation he said not to abstain from providing each other's needs but listen to what he said in verse 7 and verse 9 for I would that all men were just as I myself I he said I wish that all the men in the church would stay single like me for a little while read but every man has his individual gift from Yahweh but every man cannot live the life I live which is a celibate life read the one this way the other one (1:46:36) that way but if they cannot exercise self-control let them marry if you cannot keep your pants zipped up get married for it is better to marry hold on you know I'm not through preaching that if you if you cannot go with me and spread the gospel without having to go out with every girl and all the churches we're going to go to if you can't control yourself then by all means get married but how can we how can Paul say that when in the first verse he said it's good not to touch a woman well if you get married you got to touch your (1:47:18) woman do you see the madness here without context keep reading my love for it is better to marry than to burn it is better to get married than to be dying with lust and you can't control it and you're sleeping with all the women in the church go ahead and get married but he said it's good not to touch a woman now he's saying get married because the circumstances of the time now the Corinthian Church said it was right Wen to had a super spiritual problem now Paul is fixing a turn to the married folks and he's fixing to give them some (1:48:03) advice and here's what he's going to talk to them about he has heard through the grapevine that the husbands and wives were separating because of what he said now he's going to correct it okay let's do it uh in verse 10 you've already read it but read it one more time now you're going to see what he's talking about now to the married I command not now to the married I'm fixing to give you a command read but Yahweh a wife must not separate from her husband now hold on they were separating if you take that one verse you can preach a woman's not (1:48:50) supposed to leave her husband ever what did that ver say a woman's not supposed to leave her husband but they were they were already leaving their husbands because they thought Paul said that sex was a bad thing he said if a woman leaves her husband the word there the word there is aamos it is not divorce if she is separated and actually in this case the husband hadn't really put her away they have voluntarily chosen to live apart so he won't touch a woman it's so simple read oh 10 where you were at sorry again (1:49:38) read it again yeah well yes ma'am and then uh yeah keep reading okay but if she does cont contrary to this Express prohibition she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband okay now if you don't know any better you would think that verse says a woman can't leave her husband if she does she has to stay unmarried the rest of her life or go back to her first husband well how that be when Torah forbids going back to your first husband remember we read in Torah earlier that when the man went off to (1:50:17) war okay she would go get another husband the man would come home and she would come back to him God did away with all of that and now here's Paul saying go back to your first husband if that's what Paul's talking about but it's not here's what Paul is saying if y'all chose to separate because of what I wrote you ma'am you're not free to go get married to another man while y'all are separated or you'll commit adultery Hallelujah if you you have separated to draw closer to God or whatever the case is you are not an unmarried woman just (1:51:01) because y'all are separated if you want to be married you got to go back to your first husband because you don't have a Bill of divorcement you're still to your husband as long as he lives if you don't have a Bill of divorcement keep reading and a husband must not divorce his wife except for the cause of adultery and the husband can't just now that you've left the house give you a divorce just because y'all have separated without grounds for that divorce now let her not remarry we have used that scripture all (1:51:45) of our Lives to tell a woman she cannot remarry if she's left her husband and yet it has nothing to do with that aamos is the Greek word it's the negative form of gamos which means the unmarried state so here's what it says I'm going to read it let's start right here however it means let her not get married to anyone else since she is only separated from her husband so if we were to paraphrase this passage we would see that Paul is saying let not the wife separate from her husband hband thinking that this is (1:52:25) pleasing to God because she misunderstood what I wrote but if she does she should not get married to anyone else because she is still under contract to her original husband that woman is only separated she can never get remarried without a [Music] divorce now Paul PA is going to actually deal and this scripture is going to end the whole lesson and I promise you when you understand this next scripture it's going to seal the deal in this verse that we're fixing to read in 1 Corinthians 27 and 28 he uses the words bound and (1:53:11) loosed to be bound by law means to be married by contract to be loosed means to be loosed from that contract let's read 1 Corinthians 72728 and this is our last verse for the evening are you married do not seek a divorce are you unmarried do not look for a wife but even if you do marry you have not sinned and if a virgin marries she is not sinned okay however okay that's good oh was that 28 I'm not finished however those who marry will face many troubles in this life and I want to spare you this all right are you (1:53:50) bound let's read verse 27 in the Greek are you Bound by law the word Bound by law to a wife then do not ever seek for a divorce if you're bound to a wife don't sit there and think about getting a divorce if that other person has not broke the marriage contract you can't just go around because you want to sleep with somebody say I'm GNA get a divorce you that will never be legal in the eyes of Yahweh but watch what he says do not seek to be loosed from the bonds of marriage but are you already loosed from the bonds of (1:54:39) marriage and the how the only way to get loose from the bonds of marriage by Torah a divorce so here's what he said but have you already divorced then don't go around looking for another wife watch this but if you get married again you have not sinned I just answered the question with that one verse are you divorced then you ought to devote your time to God don't go out chasing a husband or a wife but if one comes and you get married y'all this scripture is as plain as the nose on your face you have not (1:55:43) sinned he acknowledges you're divorced and he encourages you to remain that way because if you get remarried you're going to have a lot of problems with the step kids and the step families and all it's going to be trouble but if you choose that blessed be the name of the Lord You Have Not s [Music] sinned you have not sinned he said I'll give you a little advice second marriage is hard third marriage is hard it's going to bring you some trouble you might just want to dedicate your life to the Lord now but if you can't burn if I don't (1:56:26) want you to burn and lust go and if you find another wife or another husband y'all how much pler can that verse be he said are you divorced might want to stay that way but if you choose to get married again by the authority of the apostolic word of God you have not sinned [Music] wow he said if you are married don't seek a divorce don't look for a divorce and if you're watching me around the world divorce is the last option and if you've got the Holy Ghost make your marriage work if that other person is willing if they failed the (1:57:20) Lord maybe they've had an affair where's that Holy Ghost that can forgive that work for your marriage as long as two are willing to work you don't have a Biblical reason to [Music] leave as long as two are willing to work but if you've tried everything if you have listen to me there's some of you watching me now you're tormented if you have tried everything if you have believed God prayed done everything you know to do then by all means don't just separate get your divorce and then don't go out Hound dogging and catfishing all over (1:58:02) town looking for every Tom Dick that and Harry wait on the Lord [Music] [Music]

Summary

This message teaches that divorce and remarriage must be understood through Torah, covenant law, and the difference between separation and lawful divorce. The speaker argues that Yahshua did not abolish Yahweh’s divorce provisions but corrected the abuse of putting away a spouse without giving a proper bill of divorce. The teaching concludes that remarriage after lawful divorce is not sin, while careless divorce, covenant-breaking, and remarriage without lawful release are condemned.
