Summary
Ezekiel’s cedar-tree parable explains how Yahweh preserved the royal house of David after Babylon removed Zedekiah from Jerusalem. Zedekiah represents the highest branch, while the tender shoots represent surviving daughters through whom the royal line could be replanted. Jeremiah’s commission to uproot and plant is connected with transferring that royal branch to a kingdom associated with the scattered house of Israel. The teaching identifies this replanting with Ireland and the later continuation of the Davidic line through the British throne. This preservation foreshadows the greater fulfillment of the prophecy: the restoration of Davidic government through Yahshua and the Bride in the coming Kingdom.
