Our response to Hebrews Chapters 3 & 4 - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr9G6lPyYhA Transcript: (00:02) [Music] h [Music] [Music] [Music] everybody loves to go to the book of Hebrews chapter 3 and chapter 4 to try and discredit the keeping of Sabbath it's one of the favorite scriptures of our of our antagonist and we want to deal with Hebrews chapter 3 and chapter 4 I'm going to try to do it in about seven or eight minutes because Hebrews chapter 3 and chapter 4 does the exact opposite of what the (01:05) church would like for you to believe it actually endorses the keeping of the Sabbath I'm going to make it as simple as I know how to do it Hebrews chapter 3 is a warning Hebrews chapter 4 is a is a warning you can almost hear the Apostle Paul pleading and begging he's issuing a dire warning to the church the Ecclesia the called out congregation he is telling them in chapter three he's setting the stage by showing them the example and you can read the whole chapter but he's setting the example of how the children (01:46) of Israel failed to enter into their rest which was going to be the millennial Kingdom that God is going to set up on the earth that is when the prophet Isaiah said that the wicked shall rest the weary will be at rest the Lions and the Lambs will be at rest there is a rest coming up on this planet very soon and that rest is when the sons of God will be manifested they will be in governance over the earth and the entire Earth will be at rest the children of Israel were to lead in that government they were to be in that me (02:30) Messianic Kingdom however they failed to enter into that rest they uh disobeyed Yahweh and from that Disobedience they failed Paul is telling us in the whole of chapter 3 be very careful very careful of falling into the same pattern that your forefathers fell in of Disobedience to the law of God and in so doing you fail to enter into the Sabbath rest now we know and I'll try to make this very quick the six days of man are about over we've been in uh since Adam 6,000 years 6 days one day with the Lord is a thousand years we're (03:16) almost to the end of that sixth day we're getting ready now and we are beginning to transition into the seventh day the seventh day will be when Jesus Christ Yeshua the messia comes and Reigns over our planet when he sets up his government that will happen on the Sabbath day and thus the reason he is referred to as lord of the Sabbath day the Apostle Paul is teaching Us in chapter 3 and chapter 4 about this wonderful coming day of the Lord the rest that is coming up on the earth I'd like to prove that to you let's go to (03:57) the final verse of chapter 3 and here's what Paul says in his pleading with them let's go to verse 18 chapter 3 and 18 and to whom did he vow that they would not enter into his rest but to those who did not obey him verse 19 so we see that they could not enter in because of Disobedience now your King James version will say unbelief but that is just another gross mistranslation of the KJV there's over 27,000 mistranslations in the KJV so I'm reading from the book of Yahweh It's a Wonderful translation also the Holan (04:41) Bible says the same thing along with the sepher Bible and the new English version now it tells us because unbelief is uh it is um uh presented in Disobedience that's how we know that someone doesn't believe when they disobey so now we're going to go from that warning and we're going to go into chapter 4 verse 1 therefore since a promise of entering his rest remaineth let us fear so that none of you should come short of it now please ladies and gentlemen I beg you just to think past your denominational teaching just think with me if like the (05:25) church teaches we have already entered into our rest when we came to Jesus Jus when we said we believed on Jesus we entered into our rest that's what the church teaches that's what your pastor probably teaches that's what the church World believes but if that's the case then this verse verse one of chapter 4 makes absolutely no sense how and why should we be afraid why should we be fearful of not entering into rest when Paul himself is a believer in Christ everyone he's writing to here is a believer in Christ and supposedly (06:06) according to Modern Christianity they've all entered into rest when they were filled with the Holy Ghost when they believed on Jesus well if that's the case then what's the reason for this admonition does it make any sense to you why should we be afraid that we're not going to enter what we've supposedly already entered right I know let's go to verse two for this message was preached to us as well as to them but the word which they heard did not benefit them because they did not share in the faith of those who obeyed however we who have (06:44) believed do enter that rest now many people get confused right there they say see I've believed so I've entered into that rest that word do enter into rest is a future preposition phrase we are moving and we are entering we do enter that rest for example those that are doing your homework you do enter into the next grade eventually those that are doing what you're supposed to do you're entering you do enter because of what you're doing those of us that are walking in obedience we will enter into that rest when the Apostle Paul will (07:26) tell you let's skip down if you will and verse number four ofap chapter 4 for he spoke in a certain place on the seventh day in this way and Yahweh rested the seventh day from all of his works and in this place again verse five if they will enter into my Sabbath verse six therefore there remains that some must enter the Sabbath and those to whom it was first preached did not enter Because of Disobedience but again he designates a certain day not a certain man not a certain filling of the Holy Ghost but a certain day when we will all together (08:16) enter into our rest listen carefully and verse number um seven again he designates a certain day saying in David today after so long a time as it has been said today if you will hear his voice and if you will not Harden your hearts if you will not walk in Rebellion here is the promise of what you're going to receive verse 8 now Yeshua caused them to rest in obedience to the law spoken of by Yahweh in a day previously that's the reason why verse n that there Remains The Keeping of the Sabbath to the people people of Yahweh (09:01) now I know that the English version of King James here says in the they word it a little differently let's read it in the King James version verse number nine of chapter 4 there remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God but if you'll go study the word rest there it's the Greek word uh Sabaton there remain is a sabbatismos rather which is a continual keeping of the Sabbath so here's what Paul said because we do enter that rest and because we're looking forward to that rest because we're walking in obedience so that we don't come short of (09:41) that rest therefore in verse number nine therefore I love what my good friend brother Jesse White tells uh tells us he says when you see the word therefore in the Bible you need to stop and ask yourself what is it there for so most of the time when we say therefore it means the reason is so here's what he said the reason that we continue to keep the Sabbath the people of God is because we anticipate the final Sabbath day that we will all enter verse n therefore there Remains The Keeping of the Sabbath for the people of (10:26) Yeshua now we're going to get to verse 10 which is is very tricky and I'm almost done give me about one more minute in verse 10 here's where the church murders murders the idea of the Sabbath they think that verse 10 is talking about being and you you and I each other here's how they read it for he who has entered into his rest has also ceased from his own works as Yahweh did from his sadly they try to say that see it's not by works it's by faith we've ceased from our works and therefore um we have entered into our (11:04) rest because we've ceased from our works that is so far from the truth I'm going to prove to you that verse 10 is not talking about you or me it's talking about him he is the pronoun who is this he that is entered into his rest who is it that went to sleep and was resurrected and entered into his glory glorified body and is now at rest from his labor here on Earth who did that Paul sing to tell you exactly who he's talking about let's go down and we'll skip down just a little bit and uh go down to verse number 14 and you're going (11:48) to find out who he is that entered into his rest verse 14 seeing then that we have a great high priest who has ascended into the heavens yua the son of Yahweh let us hold fast our profession you see Yahweh ceased from his labor on the seventh day yua ceased from his struggle when he said it is finished he entered into his rest when he was resurrected and ascended to the father he entered into his rest it tells us in verse 14 that he had ascended into the heavens our rest will come when the seventh day Sabbath (12:36) comes upon the whole world and we rise from our grave and we enter into our Heavenly glorified bodies and Rule and reign with Christ here on the earth because we anticipate that day because our faith is in the Lord of that day and because we understand that we will all enter into rest whenever he returns and establishes his kingdom every week there remaineth for us a keeping of the seventh day a reminder of our rest God bless you I hope that helped you a little bit

Summary

This teaching presents Hebrews 3 and 4 as an endorsement of Sabbath observance rather than an argument against it. Vaughn teaches that the promised rest is a future kingdom reality associated with Messiah's reign and warns believers not to repeat Israel's disobedience. The weekly Sabbath is presented as an ongoing practice that points forward to the ultimate rest believers will enter when Christ establishes His kingdom.
