Is the Sabbath a hell or heaven issue - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QFA_rvK6RA Transcript: (00:02) good evening and shabbat shalom from the Gulf Coast of Mississippi this is Shane Von and it is Friday evening the sun has set and therefore a new biblical day has begun several years ago my wife and I received the revelation of the Sabbath day and realized our era of not honoring the Sabbath day for most of our Christian Life we begin to plant the message of the Sabbath day in various ways and various writings and various preachings and uh with Bible colleges and helping to form uh of an organization of congregations that were Sabbath Keepers (00:55) and honestly believe this message with all of our hearts and and over the years when we talk to people about the Sabbath day we no longer get many arguments that Saturday is not the Sabbath day because we've presented tremendous evidence a cornucopia of of historical biblical evidence that Saturday the seventh day of the week is the Sabbath day rather than the nemesis of Saturday which is Sunday so we don't get much argument anymore that indeed Saturday is the Sabbath day but one that we do get quite often that I would like to address in (01:43) this quick little Sabbath greeting is this question is keeping the Sabbath day a Hell or Heaven issue will I go to hell if I don't keep the Sabbath day every time time I hear that question you know I've often heard it said that there's no such thing as a stupid question or a bad question but I really disagree when a question is framed in such a way to not have honest intent then the question is a trap you already know the answer but you ask it in hopes that your point would be proven that's not really a question that's a (02:28) statement hidden as a question so when someone says to me will I go to hell if I don't keep the Sabbath day I already know I'm dealing with a dishonest question why H because brother and sister who knows but Yahweh who's going to hell and who's going to heaven how could I ever answer such a a a question of such a d consequences I'm a human I'm a man a Broken Man a fallen man an imperfect man how can I say who's going to hell and who's going to heaven it's fine with me if the father decides to let us all in I (03:18) would have no problems if I did then that means I've got a bigger problem than than a lot of people no no brothers and sisters I cannot answer such a question but but I can answer the real question and here's what it is when I married my wife Karen we were pretty much set in our ways we married later in life and we each had our own Lifestyles and our own way of doing things when I first married Karen I was a night ow I lived My Life After the Sunset I woke up I was ready to live uh I love the uh going out having a good (04:04) time uh getting rowdy at night getting stirred up getting on the piano and I woke up at night that was my style of living Karen was quite the opposite when the sun set when it got night time she was ready for things to quieten down she was ready for the house to get quiet and settled and a little low music play in and not I'm total opposite so she expressed to me many times when I would be going through the house loud and rambunctious she would say to me what she liked she preferred for things to quieten down and you know I never one (04:47) time ask her this question I never said Karen are you going to divorce me if I'm loud at night I know never said it why that's a stupid question of course I already know the answer to that question of course she was not going to divorce me or end our marriage but I never asked that question because I didn't have to you know why I loved her more than that stupid question yeah I loved her enough to say if this is what you like if this is what you're asking of me then I will learn to quiet down at night time and I have (05:38) we've been married nearly four years and she's about got me trained but the point is this one day in your walk with God Yahweh you will grow up you will grow up past that crazy question well will I go to hell is it a Hell or Heaven issue you'll grow up hell will no longer matter to you heaven will no longer matter to you when you reach the point of maturity in your walk with God your question will change and here's what it will become does this please my father would this please his very heart if I kept the Sabbath (06:28) day once you ask the question in that way you've grown up a level in God for example I don't know the fifth commandment says that you should honor your father and your mother will God send me to hell if I don't do it I don't know but I do know this that pleases him when I honor Authority in my life father mother any Authority so therefore I do it not to skip hell and gain Heaven I do it because if there was no hell and there was no Heaven I would still honor my father and mother why it pleases him and anything that pleases him pleases me so (07:19) it's time to grow up brothers and sisters get out of this thing whether it's a Hell or Heaven issue and decide if it's an obedience issue if it's an issue of pleasing our heavenly father he said in his word remember the Sabbath day the seventh day of the week and keep it holy is there really any other question that's deserved or worthy to be asked I think not I think the question is will you obey the scripture you know the Sabbath day is to time what the tithe is to money I honestly cannot tell you whether God's going to send you to hell for not (08:09) paying your tithe I really can't I have strong feelings about the tithe but I can't answer that question either but I can say this giving the first part to the father pleases him now the rest is up to you now you know the rest of the story I pray that you will be blessed on this Shabbat as you enjoy this gift that our heavenly father has given to us a time to refocus to hit the reset button on our lives all week this week I've been out chasing what is needed to survive the dollar I've had to make the money to be the head of my home and to (08:52) earn that position by working working hard to make sure my beloved wife my children children the ones I love are provided for but tonight when the sun set the madness the insanity stopped and we hit the reset button and all Focus changes to Heavenly Father to his Commandments the things that he calls us to love we hit the reset button tonight and now for the next 24 hours we're able to refocus on what matters and it's not money it's not our jobs it is our heavenly father I pray tonight that you will hit the reset button in your life (09:37) on the seventh day of the week and focus on our father shabbat shalom may he richly bless you and yours

Summary

Is the Sabbath a Hell or Heaven Issue? addresses whether failure to observe the seventh-day Sabbath automatically determines a person's eternal destiny. Vaughn refuses to answer that question affirmatively, saying that he is not qualified to determine who goes to heaven or hell. Instead, he argues that the question itself reflects an immature approach to obedience. Is the Sabbath a hell or heaven… Using his marriage as an analogy, Vaughn argues that love seeks to please another person without first asking what punishment will result from disobedience. He then applies the same reasoning to honoring one's father and mother and finally to Sabbath observance. His conclusion is that believers should keep the Sabbath because Yahweh commanded it and because obedience pleases the Father—not simply as a means of escaping hell or obtaining heaven. Is the Sabbath a hell or heaven… The sermon therefore culminates in the unmistakable language of Exodus 20:8–11: “remember the Sabbath day” and “keep it holy.” Vaughn presents the Sabbath as a weekly opportunity to stop ordinary pursuits and refocus upon Yahweh.

Core doctrine

Exodus 20:8 - 11 - Vaughn teaches that Sabbath observance should not be reduced to the question of whether breaking the Sabbath sends someone to hell or keeping it earns heaven; rather, he presents the seventh-day sabbath as a divine command that a mature believer obeys out of love for and a desire to please the heavenly rather. He expressly declines to determine the eternal destiny of those who do not keep the sabbath, making obedience - rather than a specific heaven-or-hell verdicet - the central doctrinal point of the message.
