(00:37) I'm making this video tonight to deal with the question that we get many times here at first harvest ministries concerning the rich man and Lazarus now the reason we get a lot of questions about this subject is because most people that follow our teachings know that we have a different understanding of life after death we have a different of belief concerning what happens to the dead when they died and the majority of the church world does most people knows that we believe that the dead go to sleep they do not go
(01:20) to heaven or hell until the judgement of the saints and of course the first thing that people ask us immediately is what about the rich man and Lazarus whenever it says that the rich man lifted up his eyes in hell and surely this must mean that Jesus or Yeshua was teaching about the state of the dead so tonight I want to ask you if you don't mind I'm going to explain this to you I believe in such a simple way that you will not be able to help but see the truth of this parable so get your Bibles don't ever believe anything I teach or
(02:03) anybody else you got to read it for yourself and you've got to know this Word of God we're going to go to the Book of Luke where this parable is found in chapter 16 um when you get there we're gonna start around verse 19 as when I get through explaining this very quickly I believe that you will never make that mistake again we've all made that mistake I used to believe as well Lazarus lifts are the rich man lifted up his eyes and he'll tormented in these flames but brothers and sisters the truth is this parable has zero to do
(02:49) with life after death rather it has to do with what all of the parables of Yahshua have to do with and it is Israel now several people believe that this was not a parable they believed that this was a real story about two real men the reason they believe that is because verse 19 says there was a certain rich man and they say well you see it says it was a certain rich man not just any rich man but if that's the case then we're gonna have to say the same thing applies to the parable right above it in verse number 15 when it says concerning the
(03:37) prodigal son and there was a certain man who had two sons or we got to go to the one of the parable about the woman with the two coins there was a certain woman so that doesn't hold water this is a total parable it is a total story a picture story of a greater truth that Yahshua is trying to get to these people what people that is where we've got to get to the crux of the matter what people was Yahshua speaking to in this parable about these two men we find our answer by taking your Bible and flipping back one chapter that's all one chapter
(04:24) 2 chapter 15 so you're going to find when we get to chapter 15 verse 1 so I'm asking I'm begging you get your Bibles and go to verse 1 with me now you're going to find that in this chapter Yahshua comes into a house and he's in this house with several groups of people verse 1 now all of the publicans and the sinners drew near to him to hear him but the Pharisees and the scribes murmured saying this man welcomes sinners and eats with them so let's set the context chapter 16 about the rich man and Lazarus is the same
(05:14) setting the same room the same audience of chapter 15 Yahshua has entered into a house and there's three groups of people number one there's the publicans which are the tax collectors there's the sinners which would be your Gentiles and then there is Israel representative represented by the Pharisees and the Sadducees all of them have gathered into this room to hear the Messiah so as we study these parables keep in mind the context and the congregation that Yeshua is speaking to because when we get to the rich man and Lazarus it's
(05:59) on all start clicking the gears are gonna start coming into place so the first thing we see is that the sinners and the Pharisees and the publicans are all together and all of a sudden these Pharisees start in good church folks that they are immediately they don't want to be in the room because there's Gentiles and there's tax collectors and bless god they're so holy they don't want to be there because they believe that if they touch these Gentiles they become unclean and so they don't want to be there and so they just sparked
(06:33) something in this man called Yahshua and he's getting ready to preach to all three segments of his congregation it would be like today if I was preaching in a church and I knew there were sinners of the audience and I knew there were Saints in the audience I would gear the message to try to reach both audiences Yahshua is about to gear the next several parables to a gun barrel straight preach to all of these people and we see this very easy when the first parable he talks about is sheep the lost sheep and it is these
(07:13) sheep that he's talking about and he goes on to tell the story about how once she gets lost and he goes and finds it so he's talking to them now about the Lost Tribes of the house of Israel then here comes the next parable the parable of the lost coin he talks about a woman having ten silver coins we know that's the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel because we know that the whole Ministry of Christ was not for the world it was for the 10 Lost Tribes and the majority of his parables are always dealing with these lost tribes of Israel so the next
(07:49) parable is the parable of the lost of the lost coin chapter 15 verse 8 then here comes the next parable which is the prodigal son now the prodigal son is another parable about the Lost Tribes and the tribe of Judah the tribe of Judah is the older brother that stays home and keeps the commandments keeps the Sabbath days keeps the law of God the prodigal son is the Ten Lost Tribes just like the Ten Lost coins before it these brothers are these 10 tribes they leave their inheritance they squander it they go live among the pigs or the Gentiles or
(08:26) the sinners and the publicans they lose their identity they become lost sons the prodigal sons but one day while they're among the Gentiles they come to themselves just like we're doing right now in this timeframe the Lost Tribes are awakening the virgin bride is awakening around the world coming to herself realizing that she must go back to her father's house and so long story short that's what that product of that parable is about so here Jesus has already preached three great sermons to these groups of people he's speaking to
(09:02) the Pharisees of the Sadducees because they are calling sinners and publicans pigs they don't want anything to do with them yet they fail to realize that many of these are part of the Lost Tribes of Israel now here we come to chapter 16 now and still same rooms same setting same context Jesus keeps preaching and now he turns and starts preaching about the dishonest manager those that cheated the people and of course now he's preaching to those publicans for being dishonest and cheating the people and then first he
(09:41) talks about the love of money the publicans and then he goes on and now he's talking about the law how it's never been done away with and finally finally finally finally he comes to the last parable that he's going to preach to this group of people and it happens to be the parable of Lazarus and the rich man okay so we've set the setting now let's zoom in and find out the meaning of this parable is it about life after death how the rich man lifted up his eyes and he'll and that proves that we go straight to hell when we die
(10:19) hardly hardly hardly nothing to do with that what it does have to do is the exact same thing that all the previous parables that I've mentioned to you had to do with the Lost Tribes of the house of Israel and then also the tribe of Judah which is the Jews and this is going to open up in front of your eyes so plainly first of all let's start with verse 19 there was a certain rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen who feasted sumptuously every day so let's talk about the rich man real quick remember who is in the audience with
(11:00) Yeshua the Pharisees and the Sadducees what did they wear purple and fine linen these were the people that had everything they were rich indeed they had no need of anything they had the commandments they had the Sabbath they had the holy days they had the Torah they had the prophets they had the law they had the word they had the fire the cloud by day and the fire by night they had the burning bush they had Moses they had the prop they had it all they lacked nothing they had been highly and abundantly favored by Yahweh and give
(11:36) them everything that a man needed to be in a relationship with Abraham now this is where you've got to keep your thinking right now I'm going to pull up some verses here and try to help you understand something Abraham remember what did these Pharisees always brag about what did they always talk about always they talked about their relationship with Abraham do you remember when Joshua would try to talk to these Pharisees these men dressed in purple what would they tell him we have no need for you to teach us anything our
(12:15) Father is Abraham their religion their faith their salvation was based on the fact that they had a relationship as children are coming from the bosom of Abraham so it is here that Yahshua is going to turn and speak to these men who have placed their faith in their bloodline from Abraham so he said hey guys there was a certain group of men and these men had no need of nothing because Abraham was their father they didn't need anything now let's go to verse number 20 oh I tell you what before we go to verse 20 I'm gonna pull
(13:00) the screen up here and show you something I want you to see this what is a bosom now we're gonna get into Abraham's bosom in a minute and everyone's confused about what that is they think it's paradise or something it's simply a relationship with Abraham as one of Abraham's children let's just go here to Genesis 16 and 5 and it and Sarah said unto Abram my wrong be upon thee I have given my made into thy bosom all right where did Sarah give her made to Abraham I don't want to be graphic here at all but his bosom was his loins or where the
(13:42) seed came out into her and she conceived you see the scripture and when she saw that she had conceived she conceived with a child when she went into Abraham's bosom the whole terminology the entire thinking of bosom of Abraham was the loins the seed line of Abraham and if we continue to read down here and we come to the scripture here in Luke the book of Luke chapter 16 and it came to pass that the beggar died and went into Abraham's bosom oh we can see in verse 16 hang tight with me I want to show you this scripture Luke 16 and verse 19 thank you
(14:37) lord I'm sorry verse 23 there we go now let's go to the bosom and let's see it is the Greek word hypo and hypo is is reference to as the bosom and if you go down you will see that it is an analogy it's an analogy and it is the front of the body between the arms when you hug someone you're bringing them into your bosom a relationship with you so we have an Old Testament reference to the bosom of Abraham as being where the seed comes out and then we have another reference to where it is the relationship between
(15:21) the arms now let's go back and look again at some scriptures thank you Father oh let's go to verse 20 now are you following stay with me verse 20 it says now there was a certain beggar named Lazarus covered with sores and laid at the gate now a lot of people say see shame this cannot be a parable because they named the beggar Lazarus gave him a name it had to be a real story but actually it's not because when you study the word lash listen that makes it a powerful parable because it's not the name we need to be
(16:05) focused on but it's the meaning of the name and the very reason why Yahshua gave the name Lazarus let's look now at verse 20 and I'm going to change you to the screen here so you can see this with me luke 16 and 20 and there was a certain beggar named Lazarus or in Greek Lazaro's but look at the meaning of the name Lazarus means he who God has helped so what Yeshua is really saying is there was a rich man that needed no help there was a rich man that fared sumptuously every day he didn't need anything on the other hand there
(16:47) was another man that needed God's help the word Lazarus or Lazaro is laes are the same thing he that needed comforting that needed God to help him so now let's look and see the pit the congregation is the Pharisees that's your rich men the beggar is the one that they're sitting in the room with making fun of remember let's go back to 15 and one who all is in the room the fine men the linen purple men that need nothing and they're saying we're not going to be in here with these Gentiles or these sinners or these beggars are these that need
(17:27) Yahweh's help see the Jews didn't need his help they had his help but the Gentiles never had his help so if this is a real story we run into some major problems when we get to the next few verses so bear with me verse 21 and all this Lazarus this man that needed God's help all he wanted was to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table now I find this interesting and I'm going to bring you back to the screen because if you will notice we have another reference in the New Testament which talks about
(18:09) crumbs from the master's table let's go see what it is Matthew 15 and verse 27 Matthew 15 27 ah let's see let's start at verse 26 but he answered and said it is not meet to take the children's bread which is the Jewish people and cast it to the dogs now who is he talking to let's go back up to verse 22 and we'll see and behold a woman of Canaan this is a sinner a Gentile or one of the lost tribes came out of the same coasts and cried unto him saying have mercy on me O Lord thou son of David my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil but he
(18:54) answered her not a word and then as we go back down to verse 26 by the answered and said it is not proper for me to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs and she said truth Lord yet the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master's table then jesus answered and said unto her o woman greatest my faith be it unto thee even as thou wilt and her daughter was made whole that very hour and Jesus went on to say how that he had not found such great faith in all of Israel so there we have a reference to a Gentile being a dog
(19:40) wanting crumbs from the master's table so here we come back to our setting Lazarus and the rich man pick up at verse 21 all he wanted to do was to be fed with crumbs which fell from the rich man's table also the dogs came and licked his sores in that verse we're told that this Lazarus this man that needs God's help is a dog and he just wanted crumbs from the rich man's table who was the rich man well Yahshua told us in the other parable when he was talking to the woman from Canaan he told her that the healing she wanted belonged
(20:21) to the children of God which was Israel she was not part of that covenant therefore she could not claim on that she was a dog and she just wanted crumbs so when we come back over here to the Lazarus and the rich man parable we see the same scenario we see verse 21 all he wanted was crumbs from the rich man's table this oughta prove to you who the rich man is in verse 19 it is the Jewish people they were the rich man the Pharisees the scribes the Pharisees Sadducees they were the ones that needed nothing but the Gentiles the
(20:57) Lost Tribes are the ones that needed Yeshua's help did Yahshua say the physician does it come to heal the hole but he that which is sick well it was Lazarus or the Gentiles that was sick all right let's go to verse 22 now it came to pass that the beggar died and was carried by the Angels into Abraham's bosom the rich man also died and was buried so Yahshua is telling these Jewish people these Pharisees he's selling today he said listen I want to tell y'all something I'm gonna make it a story you're not even gonna realize what
(21:35) I'm saying but here's what's about to happen hey Jewish people there's about to be a transfer all hallelujah there's gonna be a transfer between you and Lazarus that's exactly right Lazarus is not in relationship with his father Abraham he has fallen out of relationship he's the Lost Tribes he's what will you call the Gentiles he's out of covenant with father Abraham he fell out of that covenant he's no longer in that covenant he's outside the gates he's outside the Jerusalem the city he's outside he's over in Samaria
(22:16) where the Lost Tribes built their headquarters he is a Samaritan he's a dog he has nothing he needs help so he's telling the Jewish people so let me tell you a story about this man that needed y'all's help and these other men that didn't need it they were about to change places oh yes your Jewish folks your pride and joy is that your Abraham's bosom you come from his loins you are in relationship with your father Abraham but there's about to be a change and he tells them it was written about my Moses the law the prophets they all
(22:52) told you about the coming Messiah that was going to restore the Lost Tribes to their inheritance it was the prodigal son same story all these parables the lost coins and now finally he closes it up with this tremendous story now when we get to verse 22 we see that it came to pass that the beggar died the rich man died now if this is a true story how ironic that they just happened to die at the same day the same time the same hour bla bla bla you see you gotta open your spirit you got to see this in the spirit
(23:27) no they didn't doubt the same day and they didn't just happen to die another problem we have here is when they died one is taken to Abraham's bosom which we always thought that meant heaven and the other is taken to hell supposedly we'll get to that in a minute so their only crime is being rich now think about this the Lazarus Lazarus the poor man goes to heaven because he's poor never accepted Christ as his Savior never believed on the Lord never lived a righteous life but because he's poor he goes to heaven
(24:06) and then the rich man goes to hell only because he's rich come on folks wake up smell the coffee and quit drinking the kool-aid all right let's go to the next verse verse number 23 and after let me read that in the King James Version because I want to uh I don't want to confuse anybody I've got I'm reading it out of the book of Yahweh which is in its original Hebrew and it makes a lot more sense but for those that are still reading the King James Version since it was good enough for Paul that's good enough for you let's see here verse 23
(24:46) I'm gonna read it to you in the glorious King James Version Paul never had the King James Version that was a joke all right and it came to pass verse 22 that the beggar diet was carried by the Angels add Abraham's bosom the rich man died and was buried and in hell he lift up his eyes being in torment and saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom we have so many problems with this if this is about life after death number one the problem we have is most dead folks in hell can't lift up their eyes and see anything but be that as it
(25:26) may let's start I'm going to bring you back to the screen and we're gonna look at a few things so number one the first thing we've got to get in our mind is in verse 23 when it says and in hell he lifted up his eyes let's go read the Greek word for Hell here we've always thought it meant the lake of fire but the truth is if you'll look right here it's the word grave he was in the grave look all these meanings there are several meetings for the word Hell che hole Hades Gahanna Tartarus so Gahanna is the lake of fire but this
(26:03) is not saying the lake of fire this is saying the grave so we all not add to the scriptures what isn't there so if you go back to the original let's take that word hell out and let's say and in the grave he lifts up his eyes being in torment now this word torment is interesting for some reason we automatically think that he's in the lake of fire being tormented day and night but the Greek word for torment is actually the word which is bassanio s' right there Bassanio and Bassanio simply means a place of examination the word
(26:45) there is touchstone look real quickly now you've got to know what a touchstone is a touchstone is something that they test the quality of a blade with when they're making swords or knives they put it to a touchstone it is to test the quality it is an exam nation to make sure that that is worthy of use so what the scripture says is being in the grave he was being examined or tried or tested now let's go back and read even more to get your mind right on this subject I thank the Lord for the revelation he's given us on these truths
(27:27) all right and so he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off and let's continue reading and let's see saw him afar off and Abraham's bosom verse 23 and he lifted up his eyes being in torments seeing Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom now if this is really hell if this is really the lake of fire I think you'd be a little bit too busy burning up in the flames to look off and see father Abraham know what Yahshua is telling this rich man these Jewish Pharisees is guys get ready you're about to trade places right now
(28:09) the Lost Tribes are in torment Lazarus is in torment they have no health but that the two days are about to come upon you the two thousand years where you are going to be as good as dead and forgotten and you're going to come out of covenant I'm going to allow you to be blinded for these two days remember in the book of Hosea we are told for two days we will be destroyed but in the third day we shall be revived these two days are about to start for the Jewish people that had everything they ever needed now he sees Abraham afar off and
(28:47) notice who is in Abraham's bosom or relationship it is those that needed God's help the ones that were at one time outside of the Covenant the Lost Tribes they look up the Jews look up now and they're jealous they see Ephraim they see the Lost Tribes back in relationship to their father Abraham in relationship and they see themselves out of covenant they see themselves in or meant notice the word here torment and let's go to verse 24 and he cried and said father Abraham have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip
(29:31) of his finger in water and cool my tongue for I am tormented in this flame now let's go back to the screen and let's see what these words mean when he said I am tormented it is the Greek word Oden Yahoo and it means sorrow remember the word touchstone remember he was going to be in the grave and he lifted up his eyes and torment or in testing or an examination that testing was going to bring the Jewish intense pain it was going to bring them great sorrow as a matter of fact 2,000 years of sorrow Hitler Mussolini on and on and on even
(30:12) to this day Iran great sorrow torment and distress was going to come up on the Jewish people for these two days and now let's go back to the screen and he said that I am tormented I've been great sorrow in this flame now the Greek word here flame is a root word for blaze or in other words it's sort of like Shadrach Meshach and Abednego whenever the trial and the testing was turned up so hot upon them that the torment would feel like a fire but yet it would not consume them so let's go back and let's read them this verse in its context and
(30:58) let's see if we cannot find the truth of this matter and he said father Abraham send Lazarus that he may dip his finger and cool my tongue from tormented in this flame or I'm in excruciating pain with the sorrow that we are now in in these 2000 years now if you believe that this is a story about life after death well now we've got Abraham talking to last to the rich man and somehow I don't think this should be happening a for him shouldn't be talking to him he should be talking to Abraham he should be talking to God but Abraham said son
(31:40) there's your revelation right there son the rich men are the sons of Abraham they were in covenant relationship with Abraham he calls him son he says remember that in your lifetime you received good things and likewise these lost tribes evil things are the ones that needed God's help the Gentiles evil things but now he is in relationship he's being comforted he's not in sorrow like the Jews are gonna be during these two days or 2,000 years and you are tormented the job the Gentiles are being comforted with the New Covenant
(32:27) you are being tormented by the New Covenant the fire that fell at Pentecost the fire of the New Covenant has brought them in and put you out temporarily now not like a Scofield teachers replacement theology absolutely not you're out for two days you're only in the grave like a dead man forgotten for two days but in the third day which is the seventh day you will be restored and then he says besides all this verse twenty sixth between us and you there's a great gulf fixed so that they would protest in other words
(33:04) there's a gulf made by Calvary there's going to be a division and a separation between the tribe of juda the tribes of Ephraim and now I'm gonna prove to you who this is right now let's go to verse 27 then he said who said this the tribe of Judah the Jews here's what they said I have five brethren if you will go study the children that came from Abraham and Leah Abraham and Rachel go count the children you will find out that in the tribe of Judah he had five brethren by his mother and his father these five tribes are his
(33:46) brothers that and he says that he may testify to them lest they also come into this place of torment but Abraham said unto him they have Moses and the prophets let them hear them here's what Yahshua is saying to the Jewish people you're gonna be tormented for these 2000 years the Gentiles are coming in for those 2000 years they're becoming sons of Abraham they're gonna become children of Abraham children of faith but he says the sad part about it is this did not have to happen because you don't have to believe me
(34:24) you had Moses that told you I was coming you had the law that told you I was coming every prophet told you I was coming yet what he's telling them without telling them so they would kill him right then he's telling them everything was telling about me Moses the law and the prophets and verse 30 and he said no father Abraham but if somebody went to them from the dead they will repent in other words Joshua is telling these Jews that he's going to rise from the dead and he's also telling them that even after he rises from the dead it
(35:00) won't be enough Moses wasn't enough the laws wasn't enough the Prophet wasn't enough and a resurrection from the dead by Jesus himself Yahshua would not be enough verse 31 and he said unto him if they won't hear Moses about the Messiah if they won't hear the prophets neither will they be persuaded though one rose from the dead Yahshua is telling these Jews that he was going to rise from the dead and they still would not believe and therefore he was prophesying their torment there two days of being in misery and he was telling
(35:37) them to get ready for the great transition was about to take place now I want to show you an Old Testament prophecy and we'll close this down it's in the book of Hosea and I'm going to bring you to the screen so you see it for yourself Hosea chapter 6 and verse 2 this is a prophecy that so few people pick up on come and let us return unto Yahweh for he hath torn us and he will heal us he had smitten us or tormented us and he will bind us up after two days after 2,000 years he will revive us in the third day which is the coming of Yahshua
(36:26) which happens on the seventh day which is the third day I don't have time now in the third day he will raise us up and we shall live in his sight now if you go to verse 4 Oh III um what shall I do under the Oh Judah do you see the two Ephraim and Judah Lazarus and the rich man brothers and sisters it really is so simple once you come to know how to read your Bible from a Hebrew perspective I say this most every parable is about the lost tribes we don't understand that with American thinking and I get that but brothers and sisters to try to say
(37:08) that this has anything to do with life after death would be a great disservice to your intelligence and to the voice of the Holy Spirit he teaches us these truths when we desire them I'm Shayne Vaughn with first harvest ministries and I pray that you now understand who the rich man was who lazarus was and who you are today in these last and final hours lord bless you shabbat shalom you
Summary
This teaching reinterprets Luke 16 as a covenant parable rather than a doctrine of conscious torment after death. Vaughn teaches that the rich man represents Judah or the Jewish religious order, while Lazarus represents the Lost Tribes/Gentiles brought back into Abrahamic relationship. The message emphasizes Hebrew context, Israel’s restoration, and the belief that the dead sleep until judgment.
